What I thought interesting was how the talking 2D squirrel was robbed of that ability in the 3D world…would have sped the plot along too quickly, I’ll wager.

I loved it… That feels strange to say when you’re a man, but it was good. The singing scene didn’t bother me at all. I thought it was funny. The end battle scene kind of got boring, but overall it was fantastic. Amy Adams did a wonderful job.

Re: The “scene where bystanders in the park break out into a synchronized song and dance” part was one of the highlights for me…consider how, in all the 2D Disney Classics, there’s at least 1 number where all the people get into/contribute to the song (i.e., the song-sequence “Belle” from “Beauty & The Beast”); seeing it transfer, along with the Doctor Doolittle-ian animal communication that resulted in a CGI Vermin Housekeeping Squad? I just laughed my a** off at seeing how the conventions of the 2D world followed her to the 3D world.

And Amy Adams? If I wasn’t already married (and if she weren’t engaged), I’d be crooning love songs at her as well!

This movie impressed me and I had a real fun time with it. However, the first 20 minutes are the girl constantly saying “ohhhh ohh ohhh oh! ohhh ohhhh!! ohwoweee! oohhh ohh! ohhhhohhhh!”. If that didn’t bother the hell out of you and bring the movie down a few notches, watch the first 20 min again with what I said in mind and you will know exactly what I mean.

So for that reason alone, you’re being overly generous with a 4.5

Yep – quite enjoyed it. Amy Adams was awesome and James Marsden was a revelation. Especially after his limp performances as Cyclops in the X-Men movies.
