Why do these movies always have to use the “save our building” trope when it sounds like it would have stood just as well if not better if it just remembered it was a comedy and stuck with it?

I generally don’t like it when a movie can’t make up its mind about what it is. It shows a lack of confidence, in my opinion. If it’s a dramatic comedy, let it be that all the way through, but don’t switch gears halfway from comedy into drama.

I know you gave it a high score, Vic, but after hearing this and other reviews remark on the same thing (shifting gears), I’m rather inclined not to see it. It’s unfortunate, because the premise and trailers were so offbeat wacky that I would have gone to see a full length comedy based on that alone.

LOL, well it wasn’t his fault he was cast in that movie.

But I can see how you might find him annoying… much the way I find Will Ferrel annoying in his films. (Other than Elf, which I loved)

I will definitely be passing this one up, Vic, good review or not. I can’t stand Jack Black for more than 15 minutes at a time. He just gets really really really really really really really really really really really really really really annoying. Glad you enjoyed it though, but I would sooner watch a Pixar film than another Jack Black film. He ruined King Kong, IMO.

This film sounds
funny even with that ending.

Jack Black is one of my favorite comedic actors.

This looks good.
