The first official images for Resident Evil: Afterlife have premiered online and if you’re a fan of the franchise, you’ll be excited to see what they depict.

We know the film is the first in the franchise jumping into the fad of 3D and that it’s introducing some major characters from the Resident Evil video game franchise, not yet seen in the movies. While you may frown at the thought of this coming in 3D, it was planned that way from the beginning and there could be some sense of relief that it’s being done by the team behind Avatar’s 3D.

If you’re unaware of what the newest RE is about, here’s the official plot synopsis:

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Afterlife is written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who directed the first Resident Evil (the only good one in my books) and wrote/produced the second and third.

  1. I would just like to say this first:

    WEEEEEEENTWOOOOOOOORTH!

Wentworth Miller is one of my favorite actors, and I'm stoked he was casted into this movie.

  2. I think I might actually be interested in this now. The executioner looks perfect, an exact copy from RE5, and Wesker, Chris, and Claire?! I'm excited.

  5. I am more excited for this than any of the movies in the series. The stills look awesome and the casting I think is dead on.Heres hoping the movie is awesome. With the exception of part 2,I think all of the movies have been really entertaining…

  6. All I can say is….. **** YEAH!!!!

  7. A big yawn. Jovovich while still attractive is starting to look liek an old lady with a cat head

  8. lol what the hell is that supposed to mean?

  9. I'm still not buying it as a “good” movie but my interest is peaking. I hope they don't try to stuff too much stuff from the videogames into one movie (think Mortal Kombat: Annihilation).

Other than that, the images are great and they have the costumes down already. I'm hoping for the best.

  10. More interested then i was before seeing these… though what's going to be the deal with Alice's hundreds of clones. Any explanation on those??? I think the series got annoying when alice got mind powers. Not cool.

  11. Most of that looked like from Resident Evil 5. Awesome.

  12. These movies have always been just about being entertaining, and it looks like this one will, too. I'm still waiting for Anderson to do something in the league of Event Horizon again, but, if this movie turns out decent and with well-implemented 3D, that'll do for the time being.

  13. Page 3 is empty ????

I love the franchise, yet hate that they incorporated such up-to -date story line in to the film.

But If it is the last I guess it can be easy to rush it, will still see it, hope to god they don't do any dumb 3D crap that everyone does.

  14. Get deleted and am back again. Go ahead and screw up a movie about a craptastic game. RE5 will not even be played by the creator of RE so that says something. Just saying personal opinion that they have screwed everything up so far in the movies this one will be no different. Will Chris punch a boulder to death in the movie? If not I will not see it.

  15. well there was a hairstyle back in the day that teachers used to wear that made their heads look like they had cat ears, in one photo Jovovich seems to be sporting a smaller wetter version of this hairstyle, plus the combo with her eyes makes her IMO look like she has cat head syndrome, but I'd still take her down ;)

  16. I have mentioned this about comic book movies, and it applies to video game movies as well- Hollywood creates and/or excepts scripts/screenplays that do NOT go by the actual storyline to both comics/video games-

This is yet another good example- RESIDENT EVIL.

And yet, at the same time, the actual games are not set around one or two but many characters set in story arcs that tend to go backwards. RE3 game took place before and during the events of RE2, and RE zero was set before RE1. Even though RE3 had Jill Valentine, it introduced new characters, and RE zero as well. Alice is but one more character, and that's okay, I just wish they when into the RE1 mansion with Jill, Chris and Barry in the first movie. It WOULD have worked.

All in all, I AM looking forward to the new movie, which seems to have a MATRIX feel to it.

  17. I mean, 'WENT into the RE1 mansion.'
