‘Resident Evil 5′ Set Pics and Videos: Catsuits, Villains, & Giant Guns

Principal photography on writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson’s Resident Evil: Retribution is currently underway in Toronto, Canada. Franchise leading lady (and Anderson’s significant other) Milla Jovovich has been keeping fans up-to-date on the process by releasing short videos and clips from the film’s set.

Today we have three new videos (courtesy of Miss Jovovich) that provide a behind-the-scenes look at some of the cast and crew of the fifth Resident Evil flick – along with a handful of photos that feature Jovovich looking (what else) stylish and sexy as Alice.

Retribution was once again scripted by Anderson, who has penned every installment in this blockbuster series, but previously directed only the original 2002 Resident Evil movie and the fourth installment, Afterlife. The plot involves Alice heading out on a quest to rescue Claire (Ali Larter) and Chris Redfield (Wentworth Miller) – along with K-Mart (Spencer Locke) – from the Umbrella Corporation. However, the situation becomes all the more dangerous when Alice has to face off against a deadlier breed of zombie, which is infected by the Las Plagas virus.

Larter, Miller, and Locke’s respective Resident Evil onscreen counterparts will not actually show up in Retribution. However, the film will include appearances by fan-favorite characters like Ada Wong (Li Bingbing), the villainous Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts), and the somewhat ambiguous Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory) – among other familiar faces from previous chapters in the video game movie series (who will return via flashbacks).

Check out Jovovich, Bingbing, Roberts, Guillory, and a collection of extras dressed for battle in the following three videos from the set of Resident Evil: Retribution:

Now have a look at Jovovich as Alice (wearing a form-fitting futuristic armored catsuit) in the gallery below:

You should know by now whether you view the Resident Evil movies as enjoyably fun and mindless action romps – or lame cinematic treatments of the original video games series. Retribution certainly won’t mark a drastic change in tone or style from previous installments.

If nothing else, though, at least still-dedicated fans of the franchise will finally get to see certain of their favorite characters up on the big screen – not to mention, grander-scale zombie violence and (hopefully) some impressive 3D set pieces.

Lastly – for those who are still waiting to see some actual footage from Retribution, Jovovich recently Tweeted the following

So we’re shooting a teaser trailer that shld b in theaters by Xmas! Im gonna shoot it now! Let’s govovich!

Resident Evil: Retribution stars the likes of Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Johann Urb, Li Bingbing, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Boris Kodjoe, Oded Fehr, and Colin Salmon.

It will arrive in 2D and 3D theaters around the U.S. on September 14th, 2012.

  1. I think what people really wanna see is whether Urb can pull off Leon, so where’s those set pics?

  2. This is sounding strange coming from me but she looks a bit odd in that cat suit. Her shape is flattening out too much for me…get that chick a samich stat!

  3. I’d really like to see her in – just the boots.

  4. Kudos to those who are making Milla look like an action figure. I suppose that’s what they’re going for. If not then someone should get chastised for coming up with such an awful looking thing…

  5. 2 words: Black leather

  6. what happened to her @$$ ??!????? its missing :(

  7. Bingbing is the bad casting choice as Ada Wong, she doesn’t one little resemblance as ada, plus she looks like an annoying chinese girl who think she is smart and cute and annoying.alice could just Die

  8. I love how they stole the Underworld costume and added some random shine to it. Milla Jovovich still kicks ass, but come on! At least pretend that the last movie taught you something… :-/

If copying The Matrix didn’t work, why would copying one of its rip-offs do any better?

Still: keep kicking ass, Milla! Fifth Element, woo!
