resident evil 4 Resident Evil: Afterlife Trailer

The new trailer for the 3D video game/horror pic Resident Evil: Afterlife has hit the web and finds the unflappable Alice (Milla Jovovich) ready as ever to take down the sinister Umbrella Corporation and a whole slew of creepy, undead monsters.

While the teaser trailer for the new Resident Evil adventure focused primarily on the film’s 3D effects and its application of the same camera system and technology used to film Avatar, this full trailer offers a few details about the plot – with a few “stuff flying out at you” 3D shots thrown in for good measure, of course icon razz Resident Evil: Afterlife Trailer .

Resident Evil: Afterlife finds Alice up to her usual zombie killing/corporate butt-kickin’ ways, this time against the backdrop of a devastated landscape.  She reunites with a seemingly left-for-dead Claire (Ali Larter) – with whom she parted ways in Resident Evil: Extinction – and the two eventually join forces with Claire’s brother, Chris (Wentworth Miller), on a journey that takes them to the city of Los Angeles.

Sadly, the city of angels is no longer overrun by isolated souls that are willing to total their cars just for the feeling of contact (thank you, Crash) but instead a horde of flesh-easting zombies.  Cue the pounding rock music and slo-mo shots of Alice and Co. as they battle a legion of vicious undead.

You can check out the new Resident Evil trailer below:

Admittedly, Alice’s voiceover at the beginning of the trailer doesn’t make sense in terms of the Resident Evil series’ timeline (it’s been more than five years, I thought?) and some of the 3D footage looks a bit gimmicky – what with axes and blades threatening to decapitate the audience.  But we watch these films for stylish action and visual design, not meaningful narrative structure, right?

What do you think?  Does the new Resident Evil look enticing?  What do you think of the use of 3D technology so far?  Let us know in the comments section below.

Resident Evil: Afterlife hits regular, 3D, and IMAX theaters in the U.S. on September 10, 2010.

  1. Waste of money. Period!

  2. Does she need to introduce herself in every film? I think after 4 films, we know who Alice is.

While i love the previous 3 and will see this one too, it seems as though they’re taking more and more liberties with the back story to visually appeal to us and keep us awake in the theaters. It’s gotten wholly unbelievable. The feel of this film is starting to encroach on Ultraviolet. I’m hoping this isn’t the case. That was one horrible film.

  3. I think it is time to move from Alice’s story and move on to the other stories supplied by the video games. For example Leon Kennedy, this will make these events and this world much bigger. Other than that it looks like the same old Resident Evil film, which I guess is cool. I have seen them all, so I guess I will see this one also.

  4. Agreed, these movies have just gotten stupider and stupider and I think that this this film is teh culmination of all stupidity from the prior films manifested into one big 3d super piece of crap.

I was hoping that the studio would have gone with a more creepy and class RE video game direction but I was way off judging by this trailer. It seems to be the same mindless fluff that filled the last 2 movies (the first was okay)

I was hoping that they would tone down crazy action scenes a bit and focus more on creating an element of fear like the RE games did, but I was wrong.

This movie will suck that I am sure of. Please, please, please dont waste 15 bux on a ticket to see this crap

  5. im pretty sure she means 5 years from extinction but i thought the same thing the first time i saw the teaser trailer and i could be wrong too

  6. I thought the Alice in this film was supposed to discard her powers and just be a normal person. By the looks of the final couple of scenes in the trailer, either that information was wrong, or she gets her powers back.

  7. well i think shes supposed to lose them sometime in the film so she will probably have them for most of this film

    • Lets not forget that she’s got some clones with her there too so they might be the ones who still have powers???…and where did you ever hear that she was giving up her powers up in the first place???, she never did…not all of them at lest

      • I thought I read it on this site, but scanning through likely posts, I don’t see it right off.

  8. i cant believe they decided to keep that telekinesis BS from the 3rd movie hehhee definitely not going to watch this now.

on a side note whesker looks insane, good to see they kept him almost exactly like he is in the games.

    • Wesker was always the badass since the very frist game on the Playstation. in 5 he was just totally crazy insane though lol

    • yeah wesker is the only reason i am watching the next one lol, it doesnt seem the same as the others, like there trying to cram all the action in and get rid of the story, god knows

  9. One of the very few movies I’ll watch because the chick is hot. Alice is skinny but damned fine. Tight little legs, limber, attitude, oiiiiihyessss!

  10. Im tired of people complaining, its based off the games,
    not a movie-remake of them.

get over it, its for entertainment.

I admit this trailer looks quite crap, but i think the movie will be worth watching.

  11. Listen up guys you guys will complain about anything now a days its just entertainment so if you dont like it stop ruining it for other people who like the movies. And do yourself a favor keep your comments to yourself and just dont watch it you guys cant expect it to be just like you imagined sure that would be nice but they go on there own fresh take of it with elements of the game. Also you know what in the end all those who say its crap youll watch it I know you will so like I said if you want to complain about it DONT and yes the movie will be worth watching!

      • Thanks at least someone donsnt ruin things now a days.

      • its good that its not like the game, if it was then there would be no point watching it cause its all been seen lol looking forward to seeing wesker and chris redfield in this one, apparently leon is dead but not sure, there was apparently a newspaper saying jill had left s.t.a.r.s after the death of her partner (leon) dont know if thats true need to see the third movie again lol anyone confirm anything

  13. I’m seeing it! Oh yeah!

  14. lol u should see my room its filled with resident evil movie based posters anyway i really want to see this movie infact ive been counting down there is 80 days left intill it hits the theaters yay!!!!!!!!!

  15. Eased up y’all! I think this is more entertaining than watching freakin’ “HURT LOCKER!” and “Shutter ISLAND!”

    • I Totally Agree!!!
