The new trailer for the 3D video game/horror pic Resident Evil: Afterlife has hit the web and finds the unflappable Alice (Milla Jovovich) ready as ever to take down the sinister Umbrella Corporation and a whole slew of creepy, undead monsters.
While the teaser trailer for the new Resident Evil adventure focused primarily on the film’s 3D effects and its application of the same camera system and technology used to film Avatar, this full trailer offers a few details about the plot – with a few “stuff flying out at you” 3D shots thrown in for good measure, of course .
Resident Evil: Afterlife finds Alice up to her usual zombie killing/corporate butt-kickin’ ways, this time against the backdrop of a devastated landscape. She reunites with a seemingly left-for-dead Claire (Ali Larter) – with whom she parted ways in Resident Evil: Extinction – and the two eventually join forces with Claire’s brother, Chris (Wentworth Miller), on a journey that takes them to the city of Los Angeles.
Sadly, the city of angels is no longer overrun by isolated souls that are willing to total their cars just for the feeling of contact (thank you, Crash) but instead a horde of flesh-easting zombies. Cue the pounding rock music and slo-mo shots of Alice and Co. as they battle a legion of vicious undead.

Admittedly, Alice’s voiceover at the beginning of the trailer doesn’t make sense in terms of the Resident Evil series’ timeline (it’s been more than five years, I thought?) and some of the 3D footage looks a bit gimmicky – what with axes and blades threatening to decapitate the audience. But we watch these films for stylish action and visual design, not meaningful narrative structure, right?

Resident Evil: Afterlife hits regular, 3D, and IMAX theaters in the U.S. on September 10, 2010.
