Resident Evil 4 banner2 Ali Larter axe Resident Evil 4 International Trailer

A new international trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife has hit the web, just four weeks before the sci-fi/horror sequel makes it way into 2D and 3D theaters around the U.S.

Milla Jovovich stars (for the fourth time) as the lady warrior Alice in the new pic, which was written and directed by her hubby, Paul W.S. Anderson.  Ali Larter of Heroes fame will reprise her role as Claire from Resident Evil: Extinction and will be joined by Prison Break star Wentworth Miller, who will star as Claire’s brother, the iconic Resident Evil hero Chris Redfield.

Resident Evil: Afterlife actually has a plot too, as described below:

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety.  Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend.  A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

You can watch the new (short) international trailer below:

This is a pretty uninspired trailer, all things considered.  It features more of the same 3D gimmickry and mildly-stylish dark visual design on display in the most recent U.S. trailer and Comic-Con preview, which should please those who just can’t get enough of axes flying out at the camera.

The marketing scheme for the fourth Resident Evil flick has been overall pretty flat and might not do proper justice to the final product.  Still, is it really that difficult to make a heavily-armed Milla Jovovich slaughtering monsters in 3D look exciting?

Resident Evil: Afterlife arrives in regular, 3D, and IMAX 3D theaters in the U.S. on September 10th, 2010.

Its gotten a 4th installment because enough peoplke did like it enough to make the box office receipts of the film result in a profit and then some. There’s not one movie made that even a major majority of the regulatr movie watching community would agree on as being great. Therefore as much as you clearly don’t like the RE series there are plenty of movie goers who don’t like whatever your favorite movies are, series or otherwise.

  1. Sandy,

I know that the RE series isn’t for everyone but all 3 have been financially successful and at least the original received a good bit of positive feedback even if the 2nd and 3rd didn’t so your piece on the new trailer comes across more like a “I don’t like RE and neither should you” and not like something one would expect from someone posting an article on ScreenRant.

I’m not offended or trying to defend the series, I though the 3rd one was a letdown, but I do have 1 question. If you dislike the RE series so much why bother writing about it?

    • Exactly Blue. Well said.

  2. I think RE series is great fun..

  3. Each of these films has made an obscene amount of money with every movie making more that it’s predecessor. There a a lot of people who like them (me included) for the mindless popcorn films that they are. Real guilty pleasures. They’re very well made with with high production values.
Sometimes you jusy wanna watch people blowing s”!t up.
And if it happens to include zombies and a leather clas Milla Jovovich? Count me in.

  4. lame lame lame remake this like the first game that actaully scary. and give us some movies that are actually well thought out and good.

  5. I like the series and I hope they continue. I will always have fond memories of jumping out of my skin when the dogs leaped through the glass in the original re.
