Have you ever been riding your motorcycle, fighting crime, saving the day and talking in an awkward deep voice, while wondering what you could wear so that people would take you seriously as a superhero? Well, wonder no longer as a Canadian company, Universal Designs, is now offering an officially licensed replica of Batman’s motorcycle suit from The Dark Knight.

Yes, that’s right. This isn’t your run of the mill cosplay, or some Halloween costume with the rubber band mask. This suit has been replicated from the original patterns used to create suit Batman sported in TDK. With sizes ranging from XS to XXL, they can accommodate everyone from bat-men that don’t have any bat-muscle, to those superheroes that had a little too much “super dessert.”

Check out the official sales-pitch:

“In The Dark KnightTM Christian Bale’s new BatmanTM suit makes it’s debut in a stunning array of segmented armor allowing for ease of movement, comfort and delivers an overall sense of real world credibility like never before.  Our Replica Leather Motorcycle Suit takes this same concept one step further as a fully functional, ready-to-wear Screen Accurate Replica Motorcycle Suit. Make no mistake, this is not a costume. As a ‘replica’ of what BatmanTM ‘wears’ this motorcycle suit has been brought to life with real world function and use…all the while paying tribute to the screen used BatmanTM suit in a way fans of The Dark KnightTM expect to see in all it’s glory.”

Now, I know what you’re thinking, “But Anthony, I don’t ride a motorcycle.” That’s no problem, the folks at Universal Designs have thought of everything. Instead of ruining the surprise, I’ll let them tell you.

“Not a motorbike rider? No problem, the internal CE approved body armor is easily removable making this a truly easy and cool looking ‘fashionable’ BatmanTM leather jacket.”

Well, there you have it. Even the non-motorcycle hero-type can enjoy this wonderful suit. Alright, let’s get down to business. What does it all come with? Well, you will not only receive a wonderfully designed and custom made leather jacket, but also the pants and gloves as well.

What? Still not enough information? What’s that I hear? “Anthony, tell me more!” Alright, well I’ll hand it back over to the folks at Universal Design to fill you in.

All in all, it’s a cool idea. I like the look and when you first see it, you instantly want one. Well, maybe you don’t want one, but you’ll sure try one on if it’s available. That being said, there’s something about the back of the pants that look a little bit off to me (see pic above). Still, if you’re a fan of Batman and got $1000 lying around, why not go for it? Even if you can’t get everything, I’m sure some $79.00 gloves would still be cool.

With that, I’d like to leave you with some words to live by from Universal Designs, “Fashion, Function….all BatmanTM

I believe that sums it up nicely.

The Dark Night replica motorcycle suit is available for order until October 31st so if you’re interested you’d better order soon. icon smile SR Pick: Own A Replica Dark Knight Motorcycle Suit Orders will be delivered 1st quarter of 2010.

  1. I have one of these. I made it at home out of hockey pads :)

  2. Very cool! Now they need to make an Iron Man one.

Btw, the purple Joker Goon jacket:

Reminds me of the 1989 Joker outfits his Goons wore. Instead of Nicholson-Joker’s face in the yellow-and-black spiral symbol, it’s Heath Joker. This brought back instant memories to 1989!

  3. Cool stuff, makes me wish I had a motorcycle (and drivinglicense :P )

  4. “Akward” deep voice?? The Batman voice is awesome! And I totally want this suit, by the way.

  5. @neontiger21

C’mon, sir… You know that’s not true. If some man walked up to you all dressed in leather bat suit speaking with that breathy (and awkward) voice, you wouldn’t instantly think, “oh, he’s here to save me.”

  6. @Anthony

I agree with Neon. I always thought people’s “critiques” of the voice were ridiculous. At least Bale did the work of creating two distinct separate personas for Bats/Bruce – down to their voices. What’s stupid is every actor before that speaking with the same exact voice for both characters.

People just have to nitpick everything, I guess :-P

And, for the record, nobody ever thinks Batman is there to save him. One of Batman’s lingering issues in the comic is how people always seem to fear HIM while they love a hero like Superman.

  7. looks good but how about a helmet? i wish i was in america. and that i had enough money. but honestly though being a bike rider i wouldn’t wear the whole suit (atleast not in nepal). but the jacket and the gloves would be nice.

  8. That thing is actually pretty cool looking and at an unbelievably fair price.Unfortunately, people are gonna look at you like you’re crazy when they see you in it.Good thing I never really gave a damn what others thought of me.

  9. Ludicrous. Anyone who’d even contemplate wearing this, on a bike or not, deserves to be laughed at in the street by small children. And how pretentious are you going to look walking around with the jacket open and that unwieldy breastplate flapping about in the breeze? The arm fins alone would attract scathing comments and/or thrown objects…

  10. It makes an awesome (although very expensive) fancy dress outfit but bike leathers… erm no thanks.

  11. Amen to that, jordi. And I’m with neontiger21 and Kofi regarding “the voice”.

  12. Awkwardly Bad-ass for the voice.. Christian Bale has the voice as close as it will ever come without actually running into Batman though. Wouldn’t want to be the ninny who ran into Batman in a dark alley after he was dissing him in a geeky blog… haha

  13. Basically, they are selling a bondage suit, with a large bulge crotch piece, so you can go to fetish night at your local night club?

  14. I’m told Selina’s “Skinned” night at the Poison Ivy Torture Garden is the only place to be seen in chains this year, though they do insist on a zippy-eyed mask of some description. Drinks are free till 11 if you bring a sidekick.

  15. @ The Bug Dentist

Hahaha… I think the suit needs a choker and a dog leash attached so it can be complete.

“Dim the dance floor lights, kick the music up, and turn on the strobes!”

  16. “The Big Dentist”

Sorry man. I didn’t notice I got your name wrong.

  17. No worries, TrekFreak – Bug Dentist sounds pretty good!

  18. very cool indeed with kevlar and bullet proof vest this could substitute police bulletproof vest. you wish you have motorcycle to use this mgreen:
