Dust off your portal, dial in the symbols and make sure the seventh chevron is locked (sometimes it sticks) because Friday, October 2nd marks the two-hour premiere of the highly anticipated fourth entry into the Stargate series, Stargate Universe.
If you’re a fan of the Stargate series, then I don’t have to persuade you to tune in. You’re probably already donning your Teal’c costume trying to figure out if the gold paint will come off of your forehead (yes, but you have to rub really hard).
If you’re not a fan then you probably haven’t understood one thing I’ve said so far, but if you’re still reading this you might as well tune it, you’ll have fun. I promise. (I can’t guarantee that last statement. I can’t be held responsible If you’re a Negative Nancy.)

With this month marking 15 years since the release of original Stargate film, it’s amazing to see what all this franchise has accomplished. In the past 15 years, they have made a total of four films (including the original), 5 novels, 12 comic books and 4 television series’ (including Universe) lasting a total of 17 seasons with 342 episodes between them. That’s prettying good for a franchise that started out with Kurt Russell and James Spader. I don’t see any Tango & Cash: Atlantis or Pretty in Pink: PP1.

I saw the original movie and thought it was really interesting but I never watched anything after that first movie. I will record this tomorrow night and give it a shot considering you guys live by it. We shall see what happens.
Some things might have you confused though since it has like 13 years of back-story, lol. If you get interested, you have to rent Stargate SG-1 and see it from the beginning.

I’ll have to watch it on my own – I don’t think this series will be suitable for my daughter, unfortunately. We’ve watched every episode of both series and enjoyed them as a family.

I think Vic is referring to some of the clips that show sexual behavior or innuendo. I think those clips were more intense than any other SG version (even the movie).
My DvR is set for both Smallville and Sg-U.
And smallville keeps getting mentioned. I’ve never seen one episode. Is it really any good?

Depends on what your looking for in a Superman story. Smallville is about Clark Kent, not Superman, and the writers have strayed from the source material, making this series non-canon. There are some very good episodes in it but there are some stinkers as well. This might be the last season.

I’ve been a big fan of the Stargate universe for a long time, so I will be recording this tonight.
Oh, and the pilot episode of Stargate SG-1 that I have on DVD actually has female nudity in it when Daniel’s wife is kidnapped by Apophus. So I don’t think that Universe is going to go that route….
Anybody have any ideas where and when a Canadian can view this? I hear it is on tonight here as well but can’t find what network or time? I’m a Pacific coaster in Canada.

I’m a huge fan of the Stargate franchise having watched all the SG-1 episodes multiple times and every SGA episode. I wanted to like SGU, but it tried too hard to be dark like BSG instead of focusing on story or characters. The 2-hour series premiere was completely unnecessary and could have been cut to an hour thirty or an hour. Full review of the episode.

Oh, good, so I’m not missing anything, actually relieved it’s not something so great that I’ll have to keep up with yet another show…
I guess it’s still just House for me now, that’s good…
