Rejected Iron Man Movie Armor Concepts

For those of you that hated the rejected designs down below, here are some Granov-inspired 3D renders that the artist did as well. I actually liked the versions down below (except for the helmet) but these right here totally rock IMHO and if the producers don’t consider bringing this guy on board I think they’re nuts.

 

FYI, here are some Iron Man armor concepts that did not make the cut for the upcoming movie. Personally I think these are fantastic, straddling a line between realism and the comic book world that would really work with the James Bond/Tom Clancy vibe that director Jon Favreau is going for.

These were designed/rendered by Brandon Perlow who has done TV and movie computer effects work. Brandon met with visual effects supervisor John Nelson who said that although he liked the design and that in some cases it paralleled what they were doing, it did not fit in with their overall direction. They’re wanting to go in more of an Adi Granov design direction. It will be interesting to see how the final concept measures up to these.

    Look i have seen your ironman suit and it sucks, It doesn't put the iron in ironman, compaired to the ironman suit from the movie they have a better design.

    I thought the villain was way too underdeveloped in the Iron Man movie. I did like the movie but that's one major improvement I would like to be made to the second one.

  • Yes, they did a pretty good job. I hope the next two will be add up and be like the spider-man trilogy was.
    On the Hulk side, I don't know WHAT to think.
    The whole thing with switching actors almost ALWAYS has a downside. I just hope they know what they're doing.

    Of that, I'm unsure. I'm just very glad they made it so well. On the other hand, The Incredible Hulk with Edward Norton is coming out soon and I'm not sure how I feel about that. i know they purposefully left "Incredible" out of the first movie.

    I agree Ender. As for the Black Sabbath song, I was waiting the whole movie; wondering when they'd fit it in. I can't wait for the next to movies already (they signed a three picture deal).
  • WOW, I went to the premier (12:01 am, had to wait three hours, but it was worth it) and it was so awsome. alot better than I expected. I was kinda thinking it was gonna be kinda geeky, but no. everyone in the theatre wanted to be Iron Man when the movie was over (WOOHOO!) best movie of the year, I swear. (Go watch it NOW!!!)
    they even fit Black Sabbath's Iron Man song in at the end. ^_^

    Great movie... Good start for the summer blockbusters. And for all you "make the suit anime-manga style" ninnies; I hope you all get locked in a Port-A-John and set ablaze. It's recycled nimrod ideas like those that destroy any hope for creativity in movies, utterly dashed to bits by cookie-cutter mentality

    i dont like these at all. i undersatnd that people want to make the movie new and interesting, but youre dealing wih an existing franchise. so you can change the original too much because then you risk the chance of ruining it

    lol, my sister's birthday is may 2nd and i was gonna try to convince her to go see it, just so I could tag along :)

  • So I read also that Iron Man is making a new movie, sweet!! You know what's really cool is that we get to tease about this crazy politics stuff and madness in mediums such as tv shows, cartoons and comic books! I read on globalgrind.com today too that some artists are getting more political, not just 'Ye, in their videos and such. This is what I live for..awesomeness like that! America gets to have it's say in a humorous and light way, without (hopefully that is) getting hit with fed regs. Now that's no fun...

    I know i havent posted in a while, but i just watched the ironman animated movie, and i think they should go with the lava suit that he used to go into the volcano, that looks like the best choice, and it would be kinda stupid to show that in the animated and then change the concept, you guys agree?

    Yo, i'll say this... if u can't so much as draw a PENCIL rendering of tha designs here, don't speak ill. I'm a graphic designer myself (not CGI tho) but i know first hand tha time, effort and talent needed to render images, especially those that are computer generated. Also, given technological advances, and the tech that would be involved in the timeline of the movie, a "plastic" Iron Man may be appropriate. It's not entirely impossible to mold iron or steel into such shapes as those in the pictured designs these days anyway (although i'm sure it would exceed the movie's budget for the suit and use in stunts wouldn't be practical). It seems as though most of you rather enjoy being disappointed with these types of things... Nevermind. Please, continue your closed mindedness. It's healthy.

    I can't see this movie going anywhere.
    Reminds me of a cross between Spawn and Batman 3.
    It'll be a "comic book movie" alright. In the worse sense of the word.
    It's almost like they took the DareDevil approach.
    "Lets take some stars people recognize, a marginally inspired hero who isn't iconic in any way, and add big explosions... it'll be a hit!"

    no... no it won't.

    Sadly, this movie is destined to join the ranks of Spawn and Hellboy.
    A favorite among it's core fan base, but zero power to reach across movie goer lines to attract outsiders looking for a good movie to watch on a friday night.
  • If it's successful and we get a sequel I've read that we will indeed get to see the War Machine armor. :-)

    i finally got to see ironmans red and gold modern armor it total rocks it looks exactly like the andi granov iron man covers hopefully if ironman is a success i would like to see the next movie villians to be crimson dynamo and titanium man and maybe the warmachine armor.

    Guys these designs are not terrible. I agree they can be better, but making him look Iron like the original costume is redicilous. The new costume they are using in the Civil War comics are great it is lean, form fitting, and bad ass. So why are you all judging what the fil will be from the REJECTED armor?
