For those of you that hated the rejected designs down below, here are some Granov-inspired 3D renders that the artist did as well. I actually liked the versions down below (except for the helmet) but these right here totally rock IMHO and if the producers don’t consider bringing this guy on board I think they’re nuts.
FYI, here are some Iron Man armor concepts that did not make the cut for the upcoming movie. Personally I think these are fantastic, straddling a line between realism and the comic book world that would really work with the James Bond/Tom Clancy vibe that director Jon Favreau is going for.

These were designed/rendered by Brandon Perlow who has done TV and movie computer effects work. Brandon met with visual effects supervisor John Nelson who said that although he liked the design and that in some cases it paralleled what they were doing, it did not fit in with their overall direction. They’re wanting to go in more of an Adi Granov design direction. It will be interesting to see how the final concept measures up to these.

Those look okay but they should use the current design in the Ultimate Marvel titile.

It looks very nice. The big chin thing on the mask is a little weird but these would’ve been just drafts I imagine.

Did you even bother to READ the post? Those were designs that were created by someone in the CGI field who had a sit down meeting with the VFX supervisor of the Iron Man movie in an attempt to get on board the film.
The designs WERE presented to John Nelson and the comments above reflect what took place during the meeting.

Im glad I’m not the only person who actually read the post.
By the way, Adi Granov is not the ONLY designer working on this movie.
It’s close. It’s got me excited. The helmet and the face need the most work, as well as the colors (more chrome, less black IMO), but it’s slim, it’s sleek, and it invokes the comics. If the real armor looks anything like this, I’m excited.

Go back to the old comics – REMEMBER, his name is IRON man… thats IRON man, not ‘Cheap-Looking-Smooth-Moulded-Plastic-Man!!!
When you see him you need to think IRON. Big, heavy, solid, well used, scared, rusting just a little. This suit makes me think lightweight, shiny, polished, vain, complicated (not in a psychological way, just in a ‘bad design’ way).
Its pretty simple – thats the point. Get rid of the complex muscle look. make it look like Iron, not muscle – whats the point of calling him Ironman if he looks like a Gym-freak?
BTW, i’m not a fanatic, or comic reader, i guess i remember drawing him as a kid, along with all the other comics. I’m your average movie goer who loves the cinema. But i wouldn’t go see Ironman if he looked like this plastic twat. For a point of reference i love the Spiderman movies (always been a Raimi fan), but i thought the Green Goblin suit was almost as bad as the one you’ve got here, whereas Doc Octopus was excellent.

#1: Ironman should never be “rusting just a little”. Thats crazy. Ironman does not rust. Period.
#2: The Green Goblin suit was 1000 times worse that this design.

Looks more like “Shiny Plastic Slightly Rubber Man” rather than Iron Man.
It’ll never happen but I think they should use this as a basis for the Iron Man movie.

Well i was a Pete Jackson fan back with ‘Bad Taste’ and knew his ‘Rings’ would be sweet, so swallow your own mouth ‘Punk’ (who is this anyway, Dirty Harry?

Second, no, I never doubted for a sec that LOTR would rock my world, and if you bothered to read some of my other Iron Man posts on this site you would see that I’m actually very jazzed and optimistic about this movie based on the fact that Favreau is directing and the comments he’s made so far.
