A few months ago we gave you a look at the teaser trailer for [REC 2], the upcoming sequel to the Spanish-language horror film [REC]. Today we have the official full trailer for the film, giving us more of a peek at the horrific mayhem that’s bound to continue on from the conclusion of the first one.

I’ve already expressed my admiration for what writer/directors Juame Balaguero and Paco Plaza did with the first [REC] (short for “Record”, FYI), making one of the 21st century’s truly great cinematic horror experiences. And I’m glad to see that they’re staying on-board, writing and directing the sequel, instead of passing it on to someone else to ruin attempt. It looks like they’ve successfully re-captured the terrifying nature and atmosphere of the first film.
Just in case you haven’t seen the first [REC], the film was about the outbreak of a mysterious virus within the confines of a Spanish building complex. The building is sealed off, with the people unlucky enough to be trapped inside trying to fight for their lives as the infected attack.
[Warning: Major SPOILERS ahead]
Pretty much everyone was either dead or infected by the end of the first movie, with the last victim (the lead) you can see being dragged away from the camera right before the credits roll, presumably getting infected or killed. The sequel takes place straight after that, with authorities being sent in to investigate. Needless to say, they’ll be in for one hell of an ordeal.

Great horror movie. I like the look of the sequel but it just doesn’t feel as “fresh” as the first one
Definitely disagree with it being “one of the 21st century’s truly great cinematic horror experiences”. For me it was great but not that scary. I can see how it would terrify people. We all have our own “fears”. Stephen King’s IT is the most terrifying movies I’ve ever seen and I still can’t even look at the DVD (which I own) cover on my shelf lol

I saw this movie, the first one- that is. And it was great.
But here is what I dont get- why does Hollywood need to remake every great foreign film? Such as REC (Quarantine) Let The right One In (Let Me In) The Ring etc..?
The original is basically SCENE BY SCENE the same movie, only that Quarantine has 3 extra scenes.
Thing I loved about REC- is tht its intensely scary- but short! What is it- 75 minutes??
Look good, I’ll definitely watch it because quarantine totally sucks. I just don’t understand why in 2009 whit every movie and game about zombie or infected people, armed people still don’t go for the head shoot instead of emptying their entire clip in the chest?

Yeah, Quarantine was almost shot for shot, and that made how much it didn’t measure up to the original stand out even MORE.

Awesome. I hope this gets picked up and released in the U.S. Maybe that way we won’t get a Quarantine 2… ugh!
Trailer looks cool, if I’m wondering how it will work. Could be a quick, go in, find the infected and chaos ensues. Lacking the tension and mystery of the first.
But really look forward to it.

Do you honestly think that if you were confronted with something like this, you wouldn’t freak out? I doubt that you’d be able to shoot straight either or resist trying to empty your clip. Hardened military-trained soldiers would not be used to zombie-like creatures coming after them, so it seems realistic to me. There are a few who might be able remain level-headed, but not many.
Just saying…
To be perfectly frank, I’m SICK of the “epileptic cameraman” effect. I don’t find “action scenes” where you can’t tell what’s going on in the first place exciting at all. This film looks as full of drek as the first “Rec” film was. I MIGHT wait for it on video, but I sure as hell won’t pay to see it in a theatre. (P.S. I felt the same way about the American version)
The final scene of rec was true horror, it was brilliant.

In some instances a moving camera makes sense, although in the American version of the film at one point I thought “can’t this guy stand even REMOTELY still?”
