The Real Housewives of Atlanta do know how to put on a good show, which is why RHOA has had some of the most explosive and entertaining reunion episodes out of all the Real Housewives franchises. Since the reunions are meant to address the drama that builds up during a season, the housewives get a lot of room to air their grievances on a platform where they can be heard.
In the last decade, the reunions have seen some hilarious clapbacks and dramatic confessions, and they've even included some endearing moments where housewives were able to patch things up and move forward. Here are some reunion conflicts that were simply wild.
Nene & Kim’s First Big Reunion Fight
Nene Leakes and Kim Wozniak brought the drama in the very first reunion episode of RHOA. The frenemies had shared a rocky relationship in the first season and had a lot to say to one another. And during the reunion, Nene demanded that Kim come clean about her personal life.
Kim was dating a man who was never shown on camera but who gifted her with jewelry and other expensive gifts and was known only as Big Poppa. Nene alleged that Big Poppa was actually married during the reunion, leading to a huge fight between them.
When Kenya Accused Nene Of Flirting With Peter
During the season 7 reunion, Kenya accused Nene of flirting with Cynthia’s husband Peter. Nene’s husband Greg, along with Cynthia and Peter were all present at the reunion and this allegation made everyone pretty uncomfortable.
But Kenya could not prove her claims and Nene demanded that they should ask Peter to simply clarify that this never happened. And though the matter was never resolved, it did lead to a screaming match between Kenya and Nene.
The Reunion That Addressed Serious False Allegations
One of the most intense storylines on RHOA was the one involving Phaedra Parks and the allegations she was spreading about fellow housewife, Kandi, that went beyond the normal scope of disagreement on the show. In the reunion of the ninth season, Phaedra admitted to spreading these rumors falsely.
Phaedra was also shown lying on camera during filming and though she had claimed that she heard this rumor via an unnamed source, it caused a rift between her and Porsha. “I repeated it because I heard it. Something was brought to me. I just repeated it. I repeated what someone told me. I’m not saying I didn’t say it. I’m saying I repeated it,” Phaedra commented.
The African Prince
During season 7, Kenya Moore’s alleged African Prince boyfriend was a big part of the story, when the women, particularly Nene, claimed that they had never interacted with him and that he wasn't real. And during the reunion, Kenya was asked to come clean about her partner. It turned out that Kenya's partner was actually an African singer named D’Banj who was not royalty and Phaedra even referred to him as ‘Casper the Friendly Boyfriend,’ which implies that they thought he was imaginary and as real as a ghost.
Things got messier when Kenya claimed that her boyfriend had met Nene and blamed Nene for being rude to her boyfriend, but NeNe explained she had barely met the man.
The Donations Confusion
In the Season 6 finale, Nene promised a $20,000 donation to the Detroit Public Schools Foundation to rectify her snub of Kenya at a previous charity event. She had also urged Kenya to donate the same amount.
But in the following reunion, things got ugly when it was revealed that while Kenya had kept her word, Nene had not donated as she said she would. And though Kenya took the opportunity to criticize Nene for not sticking to her word, it was eventually revealed that the charity had not received any donation from Kenya either.
The Parking Spot Debacle
At the season 10 reunion, Kim and Nene got into a huge fight over Kim’s claims that she saw Nene park her car in a spot that she reserved for people with disabilities, and apparently also took a picture on her phone. Kim claimed NeNe had used that spot without merit.
Nene was not having these accusations and took the feud outside the show when she tweeted, “Yes, @kimzolciak saw me but SHE pretended to not have! Yet she had enough time to turn around and take a picture of my car! Listen to me, it wasn’t about where I was parked, it was about what I was driving,” Nene wrote but fans weren’t entirely sure what she meant.
When Phaedra Went After Kenya For Talking To Apollo
Things took a nasty turn at the season 7 finale when Phaedra addressed the rumors that Kenya was making a move on Phaedra’s husband Apollo. And even though host Andy Cohen weighed in to remark that Phaedra should demand an explanation from both Apollo and Kenya and not just blame the latter, Phaedra consistently slammed Kenya for meeting with her husband behind her back.
It didn’t help that Apollo piled on and called Kenya a liar and also questioned her fame. In fact, Kenya’s friend Kandi also criticized Kenya on this issue. “I don’t think you exercised good judgment on this… the texts were not cool, none of it was okay,” Kandi said. Apollo really should have shouldered equal blame in this case.
When Kenya Shaded Phaedra’s Workout Video
Kenya and Phaedra did get into competition mode over their respective workout videos and not only did Phaedra think her video was better than Kenya’s, but she also accused Kenya of stealing her idea for a workout video during the season 5 reunion.
Kenya on the other hand insisted that her video outsold Phaedra’s and said that Phaedra was out of her league. “It made sense for me to make a workout video, I’m a beauty brand and I’ve been on tons of magazines so people know my body,” Kenya said.
When Marlo Called Kandi A Sugar Mommy
Season 4’s reunion turned out to be quite surprising as it saw Nene turn a peacemaker between Kandi and Marlo, with Nene claimed that she saw herself as Marlo’s big sister. Marlo had called Kandi a ‘sugar mommy’ to her new boyfriend which implied that she supported him financially.
Kandi pointed out that Marlo knew very little about what her boyfriend does and she didn’t know that he owned his own place and a Range Rover. Kandi found an unexpected ally in Kim who said, “Kandi, you don’t have to prove anything… she’s just jealous, you got your own money, honey. Don’t worry about it,” Kim said.
Eva And Porsha’s Fight During The Virtual Reunion
During the virtual RHOA reunion in 2020, Porsha revealed that she wasn’t happy that Eva Marcille had commented on her daughter’s appearance and found it disrespectful. Eva has commented that Porsha's daughter PJ looked like her father, Dennis McKinley, with a bow on her head.
Though Eva insisted that there was nothing wrong with saying that a kid looks like her father, Porsha was having none of it and started shading Eva rather harshly.
