Can You Identify These 25 Marvel Superheroines?
When you think of Marvel comic book heroes, you usually envision a male superhero like Iron Man, The Hulk, or Spider-Man. Though comics are often dominated by male protagonists, heroines have been carving out a larger chunk of the superhero mythos. And it is not like female superheroes haven’t been around since the launch of Marvel Comics. With the founding of groups such as the X-Men, the Avengers, and the Fantastic Four, iconic female superheroes have been at the forefront of these new teams. Some heroines have even become the leaders of such groups or branched off to form their own formidable organizations.
But, the balance between male and female superheroes is still uneven. In fact, a 2014 poll shows that only 30.6% of heroes in Marvel Comics are women. Considering 51% of the world’s population is female, this representation still has a long way to go. Thankfully, the popularity of Marvel heroines has risen over the last 17 years, with more female-driven comics with diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and beliefs. Hey, the world could always use even more kickass Marvel heroines!
