With Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince opting to move to July 2009, now comes word that Quantum of Solace (the highly-anticipated sequel to the James Bond reboot Casino Royale) has pushed its U.S. release date back one week from November 7th to November 14.

I guess that honestly shouldn’t be considered a surprise – what with the Potter sequel being its only real competition!

And although it will face off directly against the likes of Baz Luhrmann’s Australia and the “Meh!” looking comedies Role Models and Soul Men, I seriously doubt they’ll stand in the way of 007’s box-office domination that weekend. Hopefully this isn’t the start of a trend: fluid release dates.

My buddy Phil Gee (who lives in the U.K.) is probably laughing knowing he’ll have seen the film now 2 weeks before I will!

Quantum of Solace will grace the silver screen on November 14, 2008.

  1. Jamie,

You could always fly to England and see it on opening night before he does. 😛

I am looking forward to this movie. Even the bad Bond films (which hopefully this isn’t) are fun films to see in the theater.

  2. haha, you had me worried. I thought for sure you were going to say 2009.

  3. Mwuahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, ahah hee hoo haaaaaaaaaaaaa! Tentative release dates are like gravity. All they need are a little push.

No no, i feel bad for Jamie and for all Bond fans in the US and think its very silly for you to be punished like this.

  4. Wait, wait, so what are they going to do at the end of the trailer now they can’t morph the 7 in 007 into the release date? 007 can’t morph into Nov 14…

I am more curious to see what they do with that than to why they moved it, haha. It don’t bother me much, it’s only one week, if they had moved it into next year November (seeing as to how they like to release 007 movies in November) then you would see me complain.

  5. QUANTUM probably earned itself another $50 million to its worldwide gross now that HARRY POTTER moved to July 2009.
