The Punisher wrap poster, drawn by Joe Quesada, for Marvel and Netflix's upcoming standalone series is revealed. When Marvel and Netflix began releasing their original Defenders series together, beginning with the first seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones in 2015, it became clear to fans right away that the two companies were dead set on making sure the depictions of the show's characters were as faithful as possible. And coming off of the critically-panned 2003 Daredevil film, which starred Ben Affleck in the title role, it turned out to be exactly what the Devil of Hell's Kitchen needed.

Marvel only continued to right some of their previous wrongs again with the second season of Daredevil, released on Netflix less than a year after the first. Featuring the return of Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock and his friends, the series also officially introduced the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Frank Castle/The Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal. His performance as the character wound up being so beloved in Daredevil, that Marvel and Netflix quickly went ahead and began development of The Punisher solo series.

After filming The Punisher for several months on location in New York City, principal photography on the first season has officially been completed. So in honor of the production wrap on the season, Marvel's Joe Quesada has created a new promotional poster for The Punisher, which in all black and white, teases the series' dark tones and main set of characters. The GOAT Film Podcast recently shared a picture of the poster online, so you can check it out for yourself below:

Not much is known about The Punisher standalone series as of yet, other than who the show's creative team are, which characters will be playing the biggest roles in it, and that it'll feature the return of both Bernthal's Frank Castle and Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page from Daredevil. While the latter's inclusion might seem odd at first, the characters ended up spending so much time together in the second season of Daredevil, that their relationship carrying over into the new spin-off series should give it even more connective tissue to the rest of The Defenders Netflix series.

But other than that, very little details about The Punisher's main plot or story have been revealed as of yet, though most of the set photos leaked from the show's production only tease even more death and destruction lying ahead for Bernthal's Frank Castle. To say that the actor's interpretation of the character in Daredevil was just well-received would be an understatement as well, and following the release of that season, talks of a Punisher solo series went from just mild rumors to something the fans were begging Marvel to do. Thankfully for all those Punisher fans out there, the studio quickly obliged, and because of it, they won't have to wait nearly as long to see Frank Castle on their TV screens again as they may have thought.
