The first official poster for this summer’s Public Enemies has been released and it’s almost exactly like a certain other famous poster from a certain other super successful movie.
Public Enemies (#7 on Screen Rant‘s Most Anticipated Movies of 2009) is directed by Michael Mann and its massive cast includes Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Billy Crudup, Channing Tatum, Emilie de Ravin, Stephen Dorff, Marion Cotillard, Giovanni Ribisi and David Wenham.
This poster is simple yet effective… but it’s been done before (pretty recently). It features the movie’s protagonist, John Dillenger (played by Johnny Depp) standing in the middle of the street with the big city behind him holding a submachine gun.

Wow, what a coincidence! It’s especially notable since many fans spoke of the potential for Johnny Depp being one of the few actors who could play the character of the joker in the sequel to The Dark Knight (if the character was to return).
Now, let’s put the two together (which Screen Rant master Vic so kindly did for us)… and ta-da!!

Well duh, this was filmed in Chicago and for some damn reason every film taking place here uses that street from The Untouchables on up.
that third pic was just hilarious.
On another note, it looks like the street in the background is the same street in Chicago where the Joker unsuccessfully tried to assassinate Gotham’s mayor at the funeral service for Commissioner Loeb.

When seeing the third pic, I just can’t help thinking Depp would make a nice Joker

It’s 1 thing to know it, but now you can almost get a glimps of how it would look if he did take the part

And Rambo (4) took Pacino’s Scarface idea for its poster. So these two look similar, so what? Big deal! Like you have said Rob, this type of thing has been done before countless times!
When I see this poster though, I just think that this is the unofficial sequel to De Palma’s The Untouchables. In terms of subject matter.

No probs Vic, it is just a mashup to see how it looks right, so far not bad.
Although, I do have to say that Depp’s jaw-line seems like a better fit for their Crow-like make-up.

But behind The Joker is the Northside of the Street.
The last pic scares me that someone might actually try to cast Depp as the joker. If that happens I may actually cry. This is the first Depp movie that I thought looked decent though I give credit to the rest of the cast.

That’s exactly what I thought. Not “Why so serious” by “Why so much emphasis between Johnny’s legs.
Man, maybe it’s late but all I see is a typical gangster pose with text being placed in an area to draw female and some male attention. Anyone remember those subliminal ‘sex sells’ ads that were made illegal in the 70′s I think?
This has gangster sex written literally all over it. Chicago’s in much better shape in gangster land, ironically.
They do look kinda alike but Johhny Depp is banging…the Joker’s definatley not.

Actually Johnny Depp was one of Ledgers good friends. I personally think if Depp was asked to play the Joker,he would be more than happy to take the role.
