Props to Sir Ridley Scott for maintaining secrecy about Prometheus, his upcoming return to the sci-fi genre (and former straightforward Alien prequel). While there’s been rampant speculation about just how exactly the film is connected to the Alien franchise, the only concrete information released about the project concerns its cast – which recently added Guy Pearce to the mix.
Yet another batch of plot details from “an inside source” who claims to have connections to the Prometheus production has recently made its way online – so those who wish to avoid POTENTIAL SPOILERS should stop reading after this point. Everyone else should take their customary grain of salt before continuing on.
Latino Review fished out the following post from a commenter over at Star Seeker:
“I was speaking with a guy who is working on the set of ['Prometheus'] and he showed me some pictures and told me [about] the storyline. The space jockey that you see in ['Alien'] who has had his chest busted open is the guy who engineers the aliens. He sends the aliens to planet that he wants to take over. The aliens kill the locals and he flys in and pillages the land of its resources. It seems as though he is responsible for the aliens creation, i’m guessing that he is some kind of super scientist.”
“The engineer is played by some huge guy who is 8ft tall. He appears even bigger in the space jockey scene from ['Alien'] as he is wearing a space suit. He appears to have died in a seat that looks like it is some sort of weapon control, this is in fact the navigation system that the space ship uses to open worm holes and plot its course. Perhaps the aliens revolted and, knowing that he has been impregnated, he is desperately trying to return home to have the alien extricated?”

The Space Jockey in 'Alien'
Rumors about the Space Jockey appearing in Prometheus are nothing new, so it’s difficult to assess whether these new supposed plot details lend further support to previous assertions about the creature’s role in Scott’s film, or if this material is just false information being spread by 20th Century Fox, in order to keep moviegoers in the dark about Prometheus. Sources behind past Prometheus plot rumors suggested that the studio could be spreading disinformation on purpose – all the more reason to be skeptical about anyone who claims to have insider knowledge regarding the project.
On the other hand: Scott himself has described Prometheus as being “the story of creation, the gods and the man who stood against them.” Between that tease and the film’s title (which refers to a Titan from Ancient Greek mythology who was severely punished for stealing fire from the gods and giving it to humanity), it seems all the more likely that Scott’s new sci-fi flick will tackle issues related to genetic engineering and manipulation. So the idea that the Alien xenomorph is the result of a mortal being with a major god complex (specifically, the aforementioned Space Jockey) messing with the laws of nature could very well play a pivotal role in the plot of Prometheus.

If nothing else, it’s looking more and more likely that Prometheus will in fact feature the Space Jockey in some form – and, presumably, the iconic Alien xenomorph as well. Previous rumors about the project also describe it as being “reminiscent of ’2001′” with regards to how it approaches some pretty big and controversial ideas about the natural process by which organic life-forms (and possibly even planets) are created and destroyed.
In short - Prometheus could feature a whole lot of sex, spaceships, and giant killer aliens. How’s that for a marketable logline?
Prometheus will arrive in theaters on June 8th, 2012.

The only thing that doesnt gel with the rumor is the revolt.
From what I understand they are to a degree just animals it just doesnt sound right.
Now to say all of that and end it with something goes screwy with his ship based on an escaped Xeno he was torturing leading to his crash, becoming food for eggs then I can understand.
And if you are eight feet tall and your suit is 15 feet tall your head is not magically stretched to 15 feet inside the suit…. meaning whats the sense in have a head section on a suit where your head does not reach.
The Queen on Aliens used the elevator…. The Aliens on Resurrection, although arguably “HALF HUMAN” also plotted intelligently to escape from the containment units by agreeing to kill the one in the middle to acid soak their way through the cage floor.
The smaller aliens on the first Alien Vs Predator movie released the queen from captivity using their blood to melt the chains.
I think they are much smarter than you seem to remember them being… Perhaps you should re watch the entire series.
“What do you mean they cut the power, they’re animals”, to quote Bill Paxton. From what I can remember from the various lore about those things they have a hive mentality and are able to communicate telepathically. They are as smart as an apex predator needs to be I guess.
“whats the sense in have a head section on a suit where your head does not reach.”
Simple:
You DO remember Ripley wearing
a “way over-sized” mechanical dock loader in Aliens 2, no?
Same principle.
Oh good, now those horrible AVP cannons can be ignored forever.
Nooo. Those books were GREAT! The movies (especially 2) fall short of the books but dont hate. Those are excellent stories for Predator and Alien fans alike…but like most book-to-movie adaptations it didnt live up to the actual story. Just my 2 cents….
Sorry, I should of specified the films. I enjoy the comics for sure.
sounds good to me
as far as the suit comment it could be an EXO SUIT
If you were repsponding to me I can understand that but why have a head/face on the shoulders when you head/face is at about chest level?
Using Aliens as an example when Ripley was using the crate lifter. Had you encased it there would be no (logical) reason to have a fake head put up there.
Thats all im kind of saying.
@Sully
Ever read the AvP Dark Horse books? I was so hoping that was going to be the AvP premise….. o well.
@Aknot
Yeah I have read a lot of them. I was hoping they would go that route to. Ya know actually set in the future. Have you read the Dark Horse Aliens GN that takes place right after Aliens that has Hicks and Newt and introduces the Space Jockey? It’s a cool read. I hope they utilize some of those ideas in this film as well.
@Aknot and Loco
Are they talking about a creature within a creature or an 8 ft. tall actor portraying the Jockey?
it reads like the creature is * ft tall in side a suit
@ Aknot
A very good reason to have a fake head on your suit are the facehuggers, so they think they put theyre embryo in your chest, but you hoaxed them and you collect theyre embryos in a bag that looks like a head.
So now you can hatch them and make experiments with them.
The Spacejokey-suit is a alien-embryo-harvester.
I have to apply that for a patent, when this is not the reason in the movie.
Sorry when my english is bad, i’m german and don’t write often.
I was thinking of that as I typed it earlier. However they dont (IMO) see the face. I think they base it on the carbon dioxide that we emit.
However this would discount the first facehugger….. hmmm unless of course there was a carbon dioxide release valve near the face of the suit…. yeah thats the ticket.
@ Aknot
You were hoping the AVP films would be somewhat canon still?
No I was hoping they would be originally. When the very first AvP was mentioned I was hoping it was based on the DH comics…. then it went downhill from there.
@ Aknot
Oh. I never read the AVP comics cause the closet comic book store shut down years ago. I liked the first film, not so much AVP-R,mostly because the cast was terrible imo. Thought it was good but not great. Id have to agree with James Cameron’s statement about AVP being the 3rd good Alien film, according to what i read on wikipedia or some site.
Sounds kinda lame IMO. I hope it’s just a rumor.
This sounds like another “Man Playing God” scenrio that Hollywood loves so much In this cas man being an aliean scientist, a metaphor of course. Where is James Cameron when they need an Eco Warrior.
I hope it’s a AVP story. Agree, the books had great stories, but Hollywood ignored them. Stan Winston’s shop is doing a casting call for Predator costumers for a hush-hush project. So cross fingers….
@ Anthony
What do you mean you hope it’s a AVP story? And Stan Winston’s shop doin a casting call for Predator costumers for a hush-hush project?
They could just be doing another Predator movie after the way they left the last one open.
When they try to explain stuff all the time, it can ruin things.
They’ll ruin the aliens if they go cliche and have yet another scientist-created monster. If by “create”, the pirate simply perfected the blend of Xenomorph by scooping up the strongest after each hit, that’s acceptable.
Xeno’s made in a lab? *yawn*
Word. I feel the same, this is a little different, but they tried that with a Metroid comic, and explained that Metroid’s were created for good, but turned out to be evil, and it was lame.
I don’t think the xenomorphs were intended to be used for good as stated in the above text. Sounds like they were made for exactly what they do: destroy, erase and concour.
Sounds great,,,!
To be honest, I always thought that the Xenos were created. Bio-engineered if you like.
Maybe that’s what H.R.Giger seemed to think too, especially if you look at how his other art influenced his Alien design. Boimechanoid art is his forte.
Remember how Ash called them the perfect creature? Nature very rarely gets it perfect. Most, if not all, Earth creature however fierce and dangerous have weakspots. The Xenos don’t. It makes total sense and is completely logical to think that there were created in a lab.
Again, the more I hear about Prometheus, the more I’m stoked.
Waiting for this is up there with waiting for The Hobbit and The Dark Knight Rises.

Plot sounds lame at best, but a prequil to this film I’m all for. The first 2 films are great in this series. Looking forward to hearing/reading more about it.. and seeing a final cut trailer for it.
@ Aknot

@Aknot, if the facehuggers close in on anything that emits carbon dioxide, why not create a trap that emits carbon dioxide?
@ 790
That is exactly what i have written, the Exosuit with a fake head could be a trap to convince a facehugger to put an embryo in it, than it dies and falls off.
The only bad thing about this idea is, that a robot would be better for this, but maybe the spacejokey has a pervert sense of joy to this kind of work.
I have another idea.
Maybe the tall guy plays the chestburster who comes out of the spacejokey and the Spacejokey is cg.
The chestbursters are small at the beginning and than are as big or even bigger than the host, so at the end the alien must be at least as big as the spacejokey. So the alien is also cg at the end, or they make it lotr-style (playing with the perspective).
By the way, there is one thing in the first alien movie i never understood, how gets the little chestburster (coming out of john hurt) so big in a few hours, without killing anyone. What was he eating to become that big in such a short time, anabolic drugs from the nostromo fitnessroom, i thought he only likes crunchy human skulls filled with jelly brain.

In space no one can hear you scream PEST!
Mice and cockroaches apparently, or food storage bins. One thing about mixing genre’s is balancing the two. If you use the rules of proper science fiction the horror elements are thrown out. So a certain amount of story is left to the imagination. That makes for good science fiction though too. Personally I don’t like explaining the space jockey or much of the Alien origins. It ruins to an extent the mystery, which messes with the horror. These things are suppose to be too big for mankind. Put man in his place. He’s just a little creature in a unimaginably huge universe. By these rules if you reveal the space jockey and the Aliens you must replace them with an even greater mystery…
The books, Alien and Aliens, were terrible [the writing style was appalling]..nothing like the sublime films. Great ideas though..some things given [a little] more substance.
I remember; the alien chestburster gets so big by snacking on a diet of mostly metals and..silica/silicon-and only needs a little meat, later on, when it’s already big enough to kill. Dallas from ‘Alien’ is also killed; by the alien punching a hole in the airshaft-and dragging him through.
I’m extremely stoked to see this is nearly ready. I wouldn’t bet against Ridley pulling it off.
I, too, always assumed the aliens were engineered; as they’re too perfect-especially for starship combat (..they had laser-pistols in ‘Alien’ [the 'novel']; but didn’t dare use them-because the acid might eat through life support systems)..and HOW would they evolve? Surely; they’d wipe out all life..then starve/slowly die in hibernation over a few million years?? Evolution was the angle chosen in the Dark Horse AvP comics; but it didn’t make sense to me. The Alien warriors can convert a human into an egg-and breed that way; whilst the Queens eggs can lie dormant for thousands of years. The aliens can also communimicate telepathically..and what other sensors is that huge used head for? Perhaps they can ‘smell’ fear?? The book hints at that..but it was a loongg time ago; so I’ll leave it there, before I begin speculating:-)
I like the sound of a sociopathic alien super-scientist, wiping out planets [surely one of our colonies-making Yutani Corp even more evil, as they lied about it to Ridley in Aliens']; with his super-spaceship, and xenomorphs.
ANY epic dark sci-fi from Ridley, even if the Aliens are only in the third act; gets a thumbs up of anticipation from me:-)
Z
I hope there r xenos in the movie. Idk how u people got the idea that the spacejockey suit is a embryo harvester it would die if it is not put in a body it won’t get nutrients or the DNA to be made. This movie Better be pretty freaking good
I hope the space jockey bites a human head off and chews it while the other astronauts look on. That would be awesome…
This sounds exactly like the plot I was hoping for. “Worm holes, space-jockey creator, greek mythology, genetic mutations, and the Alien origin.
I’d really like to see Ridley Scott follow some of the ideas in the Alien comic series “The destroying angels” rather than make the story a small ordeal between the space jockey and the creation of the aliens. I wish the aliens would have a larger, galactic role rather than just be some creation of a super scientist.
What role would you like. They were created to destroy and die off. But the scientist messed up on the dying off part. Like everything that lives, they evolve, but their primary role is to destroy any and everything they come in contact with and for the smaller drone aliens, protect the queen. Like ants or bees, you choose.
Am I the only one who thinks a full scale alien invasion of earth would be off the chain? I’m not talkin some isolated outbreak, I mean an utter infestation in the streets mixed with elements of mass alien predator warfare. Absolutely bad ass!
Too soon. We’re still trying to recover from the travesty of AVP II. i thought that this novel would be perfect for a movie; “Aliens: Steel Egg” its from dark horse but i got it from AMAZON. Also, Aliens, Earth Hive Book 1, Nightmare Asylum Book 2 and the Female War book 3 that was a good 3 part series about the govt having an alien queen on earth and a radical group breaks in and frees her, thats your hell on earth movie.
You would like Predator: South China Sea, and Predator: Congrete Jungle featuring Dutch’s brother. Highly reccommend them all for movie production.
@ John Smith
A full-scale Alien invasion of on Earth? I don’t see it workin in a film itself, especially when people will remember a flashback scene from the first AVP film. That’s just opinion though, who knows.
@ Beserker
I gotta ask why AVP-R was hated so much? I have my reason, the cast sucked imo. I guess the idea of aliens & a Predator in a small town was alittle outlandish. But that’s all really that bothered me really.
first of all this is just my opinion. in a film like AVP, i would think the cast would matter much anyway, considering humans in a alien or predator wouldnt last long in that environment, unless they were the colonial marines. i didnt like it because i thought it was hard to see, everything was too dark. the concept of a queen predalien bothered me, only going after woman mainly pregnant women didnt make too much sense too me. in a movie like this you dont need a major cast, they werent going to make the movie good or bad since they were going to die.
A couple of scenes through the movie off its course; the predator skinning the cop, the predalien ripping the spine out of the cook in the kitchen, the veteran predator with no way off earth once he was done, and how the predators didnt realize their boy was impregnated with an embryo. Yes we all wanted to see what a combination predator alien would look like, but it was anti-climatic
I seem to remember an early Dark Horse comic that tried to explain the Aliens’ origin. Can’t remember what it was called… They were NOT the dominant species on their planet. Maybe in the top two or three, but under constant battle — much like ants and termites, maybe. So they evolved the defenses that caused Ash to describe them as “perfect” — not to be perfect apex predators, but to simply survive.
If you look at an ant, they are pretty close to perfect for their size. Super-strong, intelligent, capable, work in teams, etc. Just like the Aliens seem to be — perfect hive mentality. But if a human comes along, vs. a single ant, we can just stomp on them (even the largest and deadliest ones) and go about our day. Pound for pound, ants are better. We just out-weigh them considerably.
So, the xenomorphs from Aliens may not be top-dog on their world (might possibly even be like ants are to us here on Earth), but if they manage to hitch a ride on a spaceship of another race and go to another eco-system, then it’s very likely they’ll find many other species that are inferior to them, ie. humans.
The Xenomorph is perfect for its purpose. Kill or be killed trying. It can survive under water and in open outer space, there’s no other living entity like this therefore it wouldve had to be designed for that purpose alone. It has no home planet except for the planet it was designed or manufactured on and if not managed or monitored properly has the ability to turn any planet into his home planet. it kills everything not like itself. I cant see a planet where the xenomorph is second or third tier, unless the inhabitants are of great size and the xenomorphs are nothing more than mere ants in comaparison.
@ Berserker
I agree. Not to mention their blood is of acid & they know to use it as a defense against anything or anyone who’d wanna kill it. What year is this film supposely take place? I know im one of the very few, but i wished the AVP somehow were spin-offs since they were intended to be its own franchise. Just my opinion.
Umm these aliens would not be better than us,we could wipe them out! look at Big cats yeah hand to hand they can kill us rather easy but….if we have a gun or a big sword well the outcome would be much different wouldnt it.
These creatures only have a little tiny bit of smarts not enought to beat us sorry.
How can you compare big cats to the xenomorphs from aliens? And how could we win when they have superstrong skin and acid for blood. If you know Alien cannon then you know Aliens are about as smart as chimps…so your argument lacks knowledge of how the alien universe works.
i think the xenomorphs have some intelligence. A species cant be as unique as they are and not have some form of intelligence. I wold say that they know their mission in life. they would be as intelligent as ants or bees if ants or bees were the size of Xenomorphs
Promotheus is a mining vessel from Earth. It’s mission is to extract minerals
from outer worlds.
On landing on a sand planet (I presume this to be the Morroco location) it
starts it’s mining process.
The miners and scientists discover a Pyramid structure below the surface which
has been covered by sand in it’s antiquity.
The crew discover it is an ancient ruin of a long lost alien civilisation.
Upon surveying and analysing the Pyramid it shows the civilistion to be
advanced technologically that suggests involvement in bioligical
experimentation.
The humans find a star map on an obelisk that charters a route to this
civilisation’s Elysium (Heaven or paradise).
The humans leave the planet’s surface and voyage in Prometheus to this
mytholical destination.
From orbit of the destination planet they send some probes to the suface as
they have already dejuced that their could be danger to this mission from
analysing their findings from the previous archaelogical find.
On the suface of this planet is an identical Pyramid which contains some
living Space Jockeys. They seem to be engaging in some sort of biological
experiments.
The Space Jockeys detect the presence of probes surveying them and are able to
manipulate the probes through a form of biological mechanical telepathy. The
humans are enticed to the Pyramid as the android human is taken over – sort of
alien possession – who deems it safe for three of the crew to go to the
Pyramid.
The three are captured by the space Jockeys and subjected to some terrible
experiments. These experiments seem to be with the objective in creating the
Alien spieces as seen in the orignal film. To get to the creation of those
Aliens requires experimentation on humans by Space Jockeys. There are
variations of aliens that are created that are reminiscent to artworks by HR
Giger. In particular one of the woman subjects who under goes the
experimentation metamorphises into a strangebeing that is serpentine but her
visage facial features remain – which seems inparticular distressing and
hanunting for the rest of the crew members.
The other crew on Promotheus start to realise that the android is a threat and
has been manipulated by an alien influence. The humans try to rescue their
comrades and the film is basically a cat and mouse situation.
The ending sees the remaining human turn the tables on the Space Jockeys and
unleash the fruit of their terrible experiments on the Space Jockeys. One Space
Jockey at the end escapes on a strange craft but has been impregnated with an
Alien and crashes the ship on a asteroid moon…scene of the original film.
@ greg
Wow, what you mentioned in that post sounds alot like what the first AVP was. Only that was on earth & this will be on other planets & space etc.
Greg: Your spot on here with this synopsis. I almost wish I hadn’t read it now as it seems to be on the right track….closer than anything else anyway and I have read it all !!
Wally: AvP the movie was rubbish and the entire storyline where Aliens and Predators co exist in the same universe is rubbish too !
Matt: There may be an element of time travel involved in this film….
I can’t wait for this film now……The GREATEST film of our time….:)
@ John
Well we’ll agree to disagree about AvP. I thought it had a better story to it than AvP-R. The films imo, stand on their own more than serve as sequels/prequels to the two franchises if thats what you mean. Take Predators for example, that film didn’t hint anything that took place in Predator 2 so really RR didn’t need to go & say i want Predators to ignore the AvP films.
I was skeptical at first but enjoyed AvP more than i thought. To be honest i think most people expected the films to live up to Alien films more than be crossover films to begin with. I still think AvP is better than Alien 3 & Alien Resurrection. I never read the Avp comics but after what people seen in Predator 2 & reading the comics, seeing the two species go at each other was long-awaited but not done very well.
@wallywest- I agree with you. Still amazed at the so called logic that these producers come up with to build their story. There’s nj way in this universe that this upcoming movie would lead to any of the previous alien movies. And if they did meet the space jocks try weren’t that fond of humans based on the story’s I read. And the ending is obvious. No one lives at the end of this one.
Avp wasn’t rubbish. It was better than alien 3 and resurrection. The movies should fall from best to worstbin this order. Alien aliens predator. Predator 2 predators avp avp-r alien 3 and ressurrection
@ Beserker
Thanks, and i agree aswell. I could watch AvP more than Alien 3 & Resurrection. Im little more of a Predator fan because i enjoyed all the movies & only really enjoyed the first two Alien films. But the way you put those films in order as being great, seems pretty accurate enough for me.
@greg thats a nice plot but, when the found the ship in alien the jockey was fossilized, and that takes millions of years. so unless the movie takes place in millions of years pre history then in the original it would work.
BUT…since this one is 30 years prior to the original, maybe his body just doesnt decompose like ours just like the xenomorphs are made from silicon, maybe the jockey just petrified
The ending of your plot is that the lone remaining human self destructs the ship just as she is about to get ripped apart by some xeno’s that snuck on board leaving absolutely no trace of the ship and no way humanity is aware of the upcoming threat
If anyone wants to know more about the large alien found dead in the spaceship in “Alien”, all they need to do is read the Alien vs Predator books. These are the first aliens to get there hands on the banana heads (I don’t recall if it told how). My recollection is that they are highly intelligent and research based and they are now traveling the galaxy trying to erradicate the banana head plague that is spreading which the Predator species certainly isn’t helping by running around seeding planets with the banana head species for the purpose of sport (hunting planets). In one of the books, the large aliens species shows up, pushes a button, and instantly eliminates several hundred banana heads. I find it VERY unbelievable that they are using the banana heads to conquer occupied planets. Using them for unjust measures is already the m.o. of the Predators.
um derp, the eggs are bombs bro, lol. thats how they terraform it. then they come down with huge thermal-jetted flamethrowers and burn all of them out of the, boom, new planet to steal…oh and for all you noobs who keep arguing here, theres a bootleg trailer on youtube and avpgalaxy, so yea….WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE??? GO WATCH IT,ITS AMAZING!!!
Kaze: Whether a lifeform is made of silicon or carbon…there are certain environmental conditions that need to be present for petrifying to occur, which incudes the chemical and physical conditions present ! LV-426 is a barren wasteland with virtually no atmosphere….unless conditions there were different in the past….this process would have taken 10,000 years ++
Earth. Year 2058.
Archaeological digs in Africa reveal alien artifacts that humans were genetically engineered by an advanced alien race (space jockeys). These “Alien Gods” also terraformed Earth in order to make it habitable for their human creations. Amongst finds are coordinates to the Alien God’s homeworld, to Paradise. Months later the Weyland Corp launch the spaceship Prometheus and its crew into deep space to make first contact. Thanks to faster than light travel, a few years later the PROMETHEUS enters the Zeta Riticuli star system. Humans are greeted by their makers, then transported further into space to a scary yet fascinating world. The Alien Gods are proud of their “children”, their first creation to reach such levels of intelligence.
As a reward they share bits of their astonishing bio-based technologies with the humans. But for one crew member of the Prometheus, it’s not enough. In a treacherous act he steals the “bio-source code” to Terraforming, a technology at the origin of all Gods’ power, that could make humans equal to the gods. The Alien Gods may be scientists, but are also ruthless conquerors, destroyers of worlds who will not accept humans as equals. They unleash on the escaping human crew their favorite bio-weapon, a creature used to “clean up” worlds before colonization. But something goes wrong in the process and the humans manage to turn the bio-weapon against their makers. Giving birth to a smarter, nastier, bigger breed of gut eating creatures. Creatures that will be the demise of Paradise. What’s left of the Prometheus crew manages to escape the doomed planet. On their trail, a survivor Alien God in a very familiar ship with one ultimate mission: Bring the wrath of the Gods to Earth.
