Geez. Haven’t we grown up enough that we don’t need white folks to play foreign parts? Seriously, if you want to find racism in America, look no further than how Hollywood treats Asians.
Having said that, if they can get Gylenhaal to do the parkour, and not rely on wire work/digital stunt doubles, that will be the only thing that will make this movie not suck.

When I heard of this adaption I wasn’t sure it would really work out because of the whole story line of it but I still will watch it. But not until dvd lol

That picture looks animated to me, like in Beowulf. I’m OK that the main character is not Persian (it would have been better but if it works with Gylanhall, great); there are other great movies where the actors were not of the same descent as the characters they portray (10 Commandments, Spartacus, Ben Hur). I’m just hoping for a great movie.

last time I remember the Prince in Sands of Time didn’t wear leather, only in the Warrior Within.
I guess it makes the Prince be a ‘dark’ hero because ‘dark’ sells

Am I the only one perplexed by this entire concept? Like, from start to finish? I can imagine the meetings on this bright idea:

Exec 1: Okay, so video game to movie translations have been execrable so far, but I got a good feeling on this one; let’s throw together a movie about a video game character who jumps around like a coked-up spaz, spinning his hilarious knives about, and who can’t die (as long as he remembers he controls TIME). Who to cast? Who to cast?

Exec 2: Well, he’s the Prince of Persia.

Exec 1: Persia, Persia… Jake f**king Gyllenhaal.

Exec 2: That white ape from Donnie Darko who consistently proves he can’t carry a film single-handedly?

Exec 1: We’ll give him a tan, a crap wig and some leather pants. Is Aasif Mandvi still rented out for Airbouncer or whatever? F*ck him — cast British actors in all the rest of the roles to take the American stink off it. It’ll be like pooping money.

Exec 2: Sir. I love you. So much.

Who knows? Maybe it’ll be good. You throw enough money at a problem and it transforms into box office gold, right? But honestly, Jake’s crêpe wig and leather ensemble make the whole production look like a very special episode of “Jack of All Trades”.
