The battle between Predator and Man gets an upgrade this summer in 20th Century Fox’s Predators, the new sci-fi/action thriller that is being produced by potential Deadpool director Robert Rodriguez and helmed by Nimród Antal (Armored).

We now have an excellent photo gallery for Predators that includes several detailed pics of the alien hunters’ slightly improved (but still recognizable) design – not to mention images of the human characters looking understandably distressed about their current circumstances.

Here’s the official description of the film, for those not in the know:

A bold new chapter in the Predator universe, Predators was shot on location under Rodriguez’s creative auspices at the filmmaker’s Austin-based Troublemaker Studios, and is directed by Nimród Antal.

The film stars Adrien Brody as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they’ve been brought together on an alien planet… as prey.  With the exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers – mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members – human “predators” that are now being systematically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators.

In addition to Brody, the film stars Topher Grace, Alice Braga, and Laurence Fishburne. Co-starring are Walton Goggins, Danny Trejo, Oleg Taktarov and Mahershalalhashbaz Ali.

The second Predators trailer was big on the foreboding atmosphere and dark, grainy visual design of the film, which itself looks to be more of a white-knuckle thriller than a non-stop shoot ‘em up.  These new movie stills offer an even better look at the flick’s top-notch production values and improved Predator design – enticing, to say the least.

So what do you think?  Do the Predators look even more intimidating than before?  How about their new human “prey?”  Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

  1. Looks great, but am i the only one who think that the helmet is really big for the body?

  2. I agree with Seth; it looks really silly. Looks a little shopped on the first and last pic, too. I don’t know what to think ;-P

      • well then they got way smaller guys to be the predators

        • doesnt matter, the dimensions are exactly the same and the suit adds to the height of the actors and camera angles help with everything. if you see a problem its just knitpicking. the preds look great.

          • they look great but seeing a predator running around with a head bigger than its body is going to distract some people

          • Weak.

            • weak?

  3. helmet looks too big or his heads too big for its body. Overall he looks way more intimadating with its helmet off than the original. Brody got ripped. He looks like he can take the franchise off of arnolds and dannys shoulders

    • hopefully he could do better than he did in splice, and doesnt have sex with a female predator in this movie

  4. Wow, pics looks great. The helmet is the same size as the original. Brody lookin’ good there.

  5. didn’t they get a really big guy to play predator in the originals, maybe the helmet looks so big because the actors in the suits aren’t as big as the original dude

    • yes, it was kevin peter hall if i remember right. jcvd was also involved in wearing the suit, but was too short for the directors taste lol

  6. I’m psyched, and thankful they’re using good ol’ makeup instead of CGI.

    • A-MEN to that Aidan!!!

  7. Here’s what I’m thinking as far as the size of the head. That helmet and character design looks like it’s based off the original predator, but the body is smaller. Maybe it’s a young predator in training?

    • looking at the trailer the predators dont look short at all. and these pics will look better once theyre brought to life on the big screen. there was never any mention by RR or Antal that these were young Predators. they look great though.

  8. I didn’t know Walton Gogins was in this. I’m guessing he doesn’t have alot of screen time though. He is a terrific actor he really doesn’t get enough good parts.

    • Walton is great, he is perfectly cast in Justified

  9. Looking forward to this more than I did any of the AvP movies.

  10. I hope the Predator homeworld doesn’t resemble Texas.

This looks like a lot of guys screaming, yelling, smearing blood all over themselves and shooting their big guns.

    That’s not gay? Right??? 8-O

  11. this is definitely a direct rip off of the 1st (do i really need to explain ?) and 2nd movie (main character using the disc as a weapon)
i really hope that this isnt a complete rip off and that im wrong, as it stands im sitting on the fence until i get a review.

    • hows it a rip from the first? the Predators hunt. therefore their movies have to center around a group of characters being hunted. here there is a variety at least instead of just a team of soldiers. its not a rip of the 2nd one give me a break. was the second one a rip from the first in that the Predator used double wrist blades? or that the main characters both use guns? or that they both survive in the same fashion? no. all that matters is the events. and this movie has a story and events that are extremely different from the first two Predator movies. maybe some similar things, but still a totally new and different film

      • umm have you not watched the trailer and previews ?
brody yells out some pretty familiar lines that where in the 1st movie, he is dressed similar to arnold’s dutch and there’s even a waterfall scene. i think its more then coincidence wouldn’t you agree ?

rodriguez pretty much said it himself, that he couldn’t top arnolds predator and so he decided to basically remake the original and ass people from around the world to replace the macho men from the original.

please watch the trailer thoroughly and then was im wrong.

i’ll repeat this until the day the facts change – hollywood is so stupid that they’re resorting to remaking/rebooting old favourites in a weak attempt to make $$$$$ just watch, in another 10 or so years you’ll see another AVP then simply rinse and repeat.

  12. I’m a fan of the Predator franchise I just think that we as humans could think of a better Predator sequel then this recycled (man is the prey) story line.

Brody striking a bloody shirtless pose is all we got, maybe the Predators should kill us for sport???

Sure it will be entertaining to see the species again but whatever.

  13. Adrien Brody as an action hero is not something i will be able to swallow, he looks too funny, too much like a gentile Danny Kaye!

The big helmet makes the bodies look smaller.

    • he doesnt look like an 80s action hero. but he would totally blend in in Black Hawk Down. and as stated abouve in the 3rd reply, the helmet/body proportions are the same as the original

          • lol…yeah i know what you mean about the face, but i think alot more people have problems with the physique. I dont know why? its like they seem to think that being big and muscular automatically makes you a worthy opponent…lol.

      • No the proportions are not the same, that is quite obvious from the photos even to those who haven’t been painting and drawing human figures for the last quarter of a century. Perhaps the difference is that Kevin Peter Hall was 7’2″ and these guys are certainly shorter than that – let’s face it, it’s hard enough to find one guy that size much less several.

  14. Something that has been bugging the hell out of me but i guess can only be answered by the movie is:

If Noland killed a Predator then why hasnt he gone home??? I thought the Predators had a code of honor? Does this mean RR will totally deviate from every other movie? or is it that they just cant find him in order to send him home? which is a little worrisome to me.

Then again I just thought about it Arnie never encountered the Predator Clan…just Danny and Sana…Maybe the Predators only like black people? lol…I kid, I kid. so thats a little food for thought though.

    • i believe he’s in hiding, thus avoiding the predo’s.
i know what you mean about your above post, it does seem like a desperate plea for cash. i think i know the ending, brody will vs the purple round headed predator (he’s the sole survivor of the group (this is obvious as we see most the guys get killed, and its safe to say the story will mainly revolve around brody, the chick, trejo and maybe topher)) and will just win, only to turn into the planets new scavenger (like lawrence’s character).*

      * if he doesnt become a shadow amongst the jungles then he might escape… or wake up to realise he dosed off ;)

i could be wrong though, as i very rarely am ;)

      • funny, seems like youre wrong ALL the time actually….

“brody yells out some pretty familiar lines that where in the 1st movie”

“he is dressed similar to arnold’s dutch”

“rodriguez pretty much said it himself, that he couldn’t top arnolds predator and so he decided to basically remake the original”

“its safe to say the story will mainly revolve around brody, the chick, trejo and maybe topher”

-all false comments made by you

  15. Wow. Lost for words about the pictures above but cant wait to see the movie. My only thing is, i thought they mentioned they were gonna make the Predators look as the original in the first film? I cant speak for Arnold but that one picture of the Predator without it’s mask looks more uglier. I was hoping the mask would be the same as the original’s, but maybe it will look better on film. I liked the different mask in AVP on the 2nd Predator that got killed. That guy w/ the sword fighting the Predator looks like a pretty good scene in the film. Lol gosh that Predator is One Ugly Beep Beep. It looks like he holding a dead Predator in his arms and is very ticked off.

    • there is one predator that looks like the original in this film, they refer to it in the script as the classic predator. the rest are berserkers of another tribe in the predator species

  16. Taking another look at this, I think Rodriguez has managed to install a hispanic twist to this film in,,,

It seems he’s creating a new race within the Predator species. This would be a new twist on the Predator canon.

  17. Are people proposed to ignore the AVP movies? Or still consider them as sequels/prequels that bridge the Predator & Alien franchises? Reason i ask is so i know what order i should watch the films in since Predators comes out this years and we got Ridley Scott’s Alien two part Prequel films coming in the next two years that are said to take place before Alien.

    • I myself wont ignore the AVP movies just because i think they work, albeit (maybe another time line or continum). I always believed that if in The Predator and Alien universe, since the Technology was so out there…then why isnt it possible they could have worm holes, time travel and parrallel universes??? Plus the comics in the 80′s and 90′s that dealt with AVP had sealed the connection for me as well as im sure many other fans along time ago.

I dont recall if the Predators had time travel capabilities in the Comics…but I do remember in a few of the earlier games you were able to go back in time to hunt famous humans.

  18. Im glad im not the only who doesnt wanna ignore the AVP movies. They werent the best from ethier franchise but i find them both enjoyable to watch. AVP may of been PG-13 but was still good, and had a good cast i thought. AVP-R on the otherhand had a terrible cast, the only characters i considered good was that military mother & maybe Dallas. Anyways i just wonder if the films would still be connected to the past films and future films being made. Id like to watch them all, especially if they all excisted in the universe etc.

    • From what have heard, Predators takes place after the first two predator movies but before the AVP movies and Alien Movies, but thats only what i have i have heard and read.

      • Thats the way i figured they should be, in that order. That way i can enjoy watching all the films in a row. Know what i mean?

        • Wrong, RR and Antal confirmed that AvP is being ignored completely. they are just uncanon spinoffs. the canon franchise is: Predator, Predator 2, and Predators

  19. For the record I enjoyed Predator, Predator2 and AvP.

But AVP-R was offensively offensive to the franchise and Alien films. Horrible film.

    • AvP shoulda been R. nuff said. P2? sorry, i didnt like it as much as everyone else i guess. i never saw any of the alien movies after the second one, the filmmakers were retarded in conjuring up those story lines

      • i dont care for Predator 2 also. And I agree with you about AvP

  20. Hey Anthony, Alien 4 is pretty good.

Great cast, cool story and loved the Directors Cut ending! Reminds one of Wall-E. :-)

  21. Do I think this will be a good movie (3/5 to 5/5)? No

Will i enjoy watching it over and over? Definitely

  22. Lol, the preds are shorter than the weak ass cast!

    • get some glasses

  23. Yeah Alien 4 had a great cast and I loved the way it took place years beyond the 3rd film.
Space was more like a western landscape then a Earth controlled area.

The final scene on Earth (extended cut) was a classic.

The film was also the genesis of the Tv show Firefly.

  24. I, for one, am thrilled with the idea of this movie and can’t wait to see it. I enjoyed the first AVP. They actually kept a lot of the same ideas from several of the AVP books. I was glad to see a Predator in a “hero” role. Although, I refuse to acknowledge the existence of AVP Requiem.
As to jwalka’s comments on the complete lack of originality from Hollywood. I can respect a reboot as long as it isn’t only a couple years after the first (Spiderman anyone?????)

    • i cant respect any reboots, or remakes, screw those out there that say “its a fresh take”

      • you cant RESPECT it?? you dont have to respect the movie, its made for YOUR entertainment, not to win awards.

and it IS a fresh take because ITS A DIFFERENT STORY, (as in SEQUEL). they arent re-inventing the wheel here, they are adding to the franchise.
get off your high horse like youre too good to see a movie like this.

  25. XFringeDivisionX, yeah there’s nothing gay about Avatar.

On the helmet deal, as you can see the Predator isn’t wearing his enviromental suit. His helmet is part of that suit in terms of breathing and vision. It looks like the Pred is wearing the helmet so he can see in a different spectrum.

  26. this will be a benefit movie to watch adrien did amazing job with his body at least he look tough even though its not the same as arnol schwarzenegger but adrien is amazing actor plus the predator looks dangerous to be near i have faith toward robert rodriguez predators

  27. “the predator looks dangerous to be near” that’s for sure can you imagine the bad breath those things must have.

    Seriously ,,, ;-)
