Ok, fine. I can’t help myself. Here’s another bit of news that really annoyed me today… There is talk of another Predator film. Here’s the quote that really torqued me:
“…not a remake, not a prequel; more of a restart”
Why does this bother me? Because:
“There’s talk … that it might fix on Dutch’s (Ahnuld’s) grown-up commando kid.”
If it’s a “restart” why are they planning on using a character that is the son of the main character from the original film?
Wouldn’t a restart imply a completely different set of people and circumstances not related to the original?
Yeesh.
What’s the deal here? Does Hollywood think that if they start calling remakes “restarts” or “re-imaginings” we’ll be more accepting of them?
Not.

The suits should go see Son of the Mask when it comes out later this month, then have another committee meeting and see if they really want to “restart” Predator.
As the old saying goes, beating a dead horse ain’t gonna make it any deader.

The first Predator scared me witless. But it had to be watched you see, there were teenage boys in the house at the time….
But now that they are grown ups… they can go see it on their own! I’m done with really scary aliens hanging carcasses out to age.
Oy!
