Over the past two decades, superheroes have slowly gone from a small slice of the television and film landscape to one of the dominating forces in genre entertainment. As the average audience member grows more accustomed to fantastical powers and eccentric costumes, producers and writers have started looking to more outré sources for adaptations. FX has found success with the somewhat obscure mutant character David Haler on Legion. Meanwhile, the long-running Archie line of comics has been reimagined as a murder-mystery drama on The CW. And of course, Image Comics’ The Walking Dead has been turned into one of AMC and TV’s most popular shows.

Last year saw AMC try their hand at another comic property, when they teamed with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to transform Vertigo’s Preacher into a television show. While not matching The Walking Dead in ratings, it’s still been a hit for the network and has certainly made up for the difference in viewers with lots of critical appeal. As such, anticipation has been high for the second season. It began filming in late January and we learned yesterday that Peaky Blinders star Noah Taylor is joining the cast in season 2. Now, we know when the show will return.

AMC has announced that Preacher season 2 premieres Monday, June 19th at 9 pm. What’s more, this season will feature 13 episodes (three more than its freshman season). For those hoping to catch up on Preacher season 1, or rewatch it ahead of the summer, it’s not only streaming on demand at at AMC’s website, but the show will be added to Hulu on April 5th. The network also released six exclusive first looks at the new season, which you can check out in the gallery below.

Naturally, Jessie Custer, Tulip, and Cassidy will all be back. In addition, comic character Herr Starr will be joining the new season. Despite a few changes from the comics, there were still a lot of great things that happened in Preacher season 1. Still, there are plenty of other things that fans hope to see in Preacher season 2.

We actually know quite a few Preacher season 2  details already, but hopefully we will be getting even more details about the season’s plot threads and new characters in the coming weeks. With the show’s return just a few months away now, there’s a good chance a Preacher season 2 trailer is right around the corner, on top of that.

Preacher season 2 premieres June 19th at 9 pm on AMC.
