Question: What do the movies Saw VI, Extract, Gamer, A Serious Man, Whiteout, The Hole, and Law Abiding Citizen have in common? They all have new posters that Screen Rant has for your viewing pleasure, that’s what!

First up is Saw VI, yet another installment in the surprisingly highly successful torture-porn horror franchise, Saw. Maybe it’s the fact that they kicked off this kind of horror movie trend, maybe it’s the marketing, who knows, but for some reason people keep going to see these movies. They lost any intellectual stimulation for the audience a few movies ago, and it’s now all really about how to cram as much gorey traps into the runtime as possible. Saw VI looks to be no different.

The posters show of a peculiar and sinister looking nurse with some sort of weird prosthetic half-face mask. Ever since the first movie, this “Blood Drive” ad campaign has been going on (you can check out some of the rest here, here and here), and this may just be the best example yet. Even if the sixth Saw turns out to be crap (as I suspect it will), I’ve gotta admit these posters are effectively creepy. Check them both out:

Saw VI hits theatres on October 23rd, 2009.

Next we have the new character posters for the new Mike Judge’s (Office Space) comedy, Extract. The film follows Jason Bateman’s character who’s on the verge of selling his flavor extract factory when a freak accident sets in motion a series of events that puts his personal and professional life at risk. I’m sure Judge has some funny tricks up his sleeve for that premise.

The trailer for the film looked really funny, and I like the cast that includes Bateman, Ben Affleck, Kristin Wiig and Mila Kunis. Here’s a couple of the character posters, featuring Bateman and Affleck:

For the other two character posters featuring Kristin Wiig and Mila Kunis, you can head over to Collider. Extract is due out on September 4th, 2009.

Next is Gamer, the new Mark Nevaldine and Brian Taylor (Crank) written/directed, Gerard Butler starring action flick. It’s one we’ve covered a fair bit here at Screen Rant, and I, for one, think that all the stuff we’ve seen so far from it has looked kick ass. The latest poster is pretty cool – I really dig the contrast between the carnage at the top and the… beauty at the bottom. Check it out for yourself:

Gamer is scheduled to be released on September 4th, 2009.

The Coen brothers are back this year with another film that is more in the style of The Big Lebowski and Raising Arizona than it is No Country for Old Men and Fargo. A Serious Man follows a man (he’s serious, ya’ know…) who seeks the advice of three very different rabbis because of problems he’s having at work and in his personal life. I’m not quite sure what to make of the first poster for it – I like it… but am not sure why. See what you make of it:

A Serious Man is out in limited release in the US on October 2nd, and on November 20th in the UK, both in 2009.

We reported on the first trailer for the new Kate Beckinsale thriller, Whiteout, last month and it looked pretty damn good. It’s set in, “the world’s most remote landmass… that has no permanent population,” aka Antarctica. It follows a U.S. Marshall (the ever-lovely Beckinsale) who’s tracking a killer amidst a location with harsh conditions (to say the least!). Here’s a new, very striking poster for the movie:

“See your last breath”

Nice! Whiteout is released on September 11th, 2009.

Next we have the upcoming Joe Dante (Gremlins) directed 3D thriller, The Hole. It’s about a pair of brothers who stumble across a mysterious hole in the basement of their new house which leads to the “darkest corridors of their fears and nightmares.”

Now, I really hope that’s not euphemistic in any way…

Here is the rather uninteresting poster for what sounds like an interesting premise:

The Hole currently doesn’t have a release date.

Last up we have two posters for a new Gerard Butler (the only actor to make two appearances in this slew of posters) and Jamie Foxx drama/thriller, Law Abiding Citizen. It’s about an everyday man (Butler) who decides to get justice after a legal loopholes allow his family’s killer to walk free. A corrupt prosecutor (Jamie Foxx) finds himself at the mercy of the vengeful man. The film is written by Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium) and directed by F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job). Here are the two posters:

Law Abiding Citizen opens on October 16th, 2009, in the US, and on March 26th, 2010, in the UK.

Wow, that was A LOT of posters! Which do you like best?
