The free-to-play MOBA title Pokémon Unite has reveled a brand-new map, which will contain the Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza. Developed by TiMi Studio Group, the multiplayer online battle arena sees two teams of players face off while controlling a roster of iconic Pokémon. The first anniversary of Pokémon Unite was recently celebrated with a new Pika Party mode, and now even more exciting additions are coming to the pocket monster battlefield.

While many Pokémon games have Trainers collect creatures and command them in battle, Pokémon Unite sees players directly control the franchise's iconic monsters. At launch the title already boasted a large lineup of playable Pokémon, ranging from iconic creatures like Pikachu and Charizard to more obscure additions like Crustle and Cramorant. Since launch TiMi Studio Group has continued to support Pokémon Unite by adding numerous new playable characters and game modes. The developer has added notable creatures like Blastoise and Dragonite, and the Pokémon Unite anniversary brought six new Pokémon including Tyranitar, Glaceon and Buzzwole.

A new content reveal trailer, posted to YouTube by Pokémon Unite, unveils the new Theia Sky Ruins map and its powerful inhabitant Rayquaza. Situated amongst the clouds, this breathtaking arena is a wonderful change of scenery from the game's usual Aeos Island map. Players who decided to battle here will need to contend with Rayquaza, however, since the Legendary Sky High Pokémon will no doubt cause trouble for both sides of the conflict. While no firm release date has been given yet, Theia Sky Ruins will apparently be added to Pokémon Unite soon.

While TiMi Studio Group has officially confirmed the impending release of Theia Sky Ruins and Rayquaza, a Pokémon Unite Gigantamax Pikachu leak recently hinted at even more content on the way. An extensive datamine seemed to reveal a host of new content coming to Pokémon Unite in the near future, with Tyranitar, Buzzwole, and Glaceon leaking before their official announcement last month. Along with various Holowear cosmetic items, this leak also seems to show Pikachu grown to enormous size using the Gigantamax ability introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield. However, what role Gigantamax Pikachu will play in Pokémon Unite is still unclear.

Pokémon Unite puts an entirely new twist on traditional Pokémon gameplay by letting players cirectly control their favorite pocket monsters and battle across various maps. Theia Sky Ruins will dramatically increase gameplay variety by giving its players a brand-new backdrop to battle within. The presence of the Legendary Rayquaza in Theia Sky Ruins will no doubt make this map a treacherous, yet still beautiful, combat zone.

Pokémon Unite is available on Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.
