I remember years ago when I went to a movie theater in Portugal, they served much better food, beer and they added an intermission to the middle of the movie. People got up, had a chance to go to the bathroom and mingled in the lobby. Much more pleasant experience.

Well, I doubt too many teenagers would work there if, as the article says, the place is an adult lounge with drinks (Doesn't a servers age have to be 18+ to serve alcohol?) and food. Hopefully.

I have been to an independent theater that partnered their traditional snack bar with a pizza restaurant next door. You could eat pizza and drink beer with your movie. Made the experience that much better.

Yup, like I said... on paper it sounds great. In application, with part-time teenagers running the thing... I doubt it would as utopian a movie experience as they envision. :-)

I can see how this could potentially work out.... however I FULLY agree with your additions Vic. With the increased price we would be paying, there would HAVE to be some sort of control/authority system keeping unruly moviegoers in check. And KILL those stupid commercials!!!

1. Lower ticket prices.
2. Increase the quality of the films.
3. Put muzzles on those who talk back at the screen
4. Have a cellphone shutter-offer thingy that shuts off all cellfones in the room.
5. Stop showing commercials
6. Give me free money.

No commercials = great

That's one of the best parts of IMAX. Just cool trailers and the movie. What more could one ask for?

I do like the idea of making a trip to the movies more "special." I'm just concerned with the cost and unintended consequences.

In support of your statement, read my comments regarding watching "Spider-Man 3" in IMAX in my review. That is definitely worth paying a bit extra for, plus there were NO COMMERCIALS prior to the movie starting. :-D

As much as I agree with you, I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for a different "experience" once in a while. I can tell you it's not something I would do all the time but for the right movie, I'd spend the extra to get this "in your livingroom" sort of treatment.

As for "Bubble", I did see it and it's OK. Nothing spectacular but some great performances! If you're at all interested, the review is on the site.
