There are those who enjoyed the guilty pleasure that was Piranha 3D and have been waiting on an even bigger mouthful of chum with Piranha 3DD (pronounced ‘Piranha Three-Double-D’ by the way), the sequel film that has been delayed from its release date and dumped straight-to-DVD in certain overseas markets (sorry UK).
We got a teaser trailer for Piranha 3DD back in the fall, and it looked about as ridiculous as you would think, and probably even more so. Ving Rhames had a shotgun for a leg (’nuff said). Today’s full-length Piranha 3DD trailer pretty much equals its predecessor in terms of quality – only, you know, with more story (or at least what passes for one).

If you can’t tell by this trailer, the piranhas basically head upstream from their last meal at Lake Victoria to “Big Wet” for the second course. There’s some teen drama stuff thrown in there to tie it all together – but basically we’ll be getting more half-naked youths (and Ving Rhames) going up against CGI man-eating fish – only, you know, bigger ones this time. If you enjoyed the first installment, you’ll enjoy the second one; anyone else should just paddle on by.
Piranha 3DD stars(?) Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, David Koechner, Meagan Tandy, Paul James Jordan, Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, Ving Rhames, Paul Scheer – and once again, Christopher Lloyd. David Hasselhoff also pops up for a bit.
The film still doesn’t have a solid release date. We’ll keep you updated.

i probably wont watch this one b/c of how stupid it looks (haselhoff looks and sounds like a retard, even if it is his character). and i highly doubt this will top that super gory middle segment of the 1st one.

I liked the first movie Piranha 3D, it had a great cast, lots of blood & gore and the director knew what he was doing with the movie.
Still this trailer is either awful or over the top but still I might watch this because it’s got Gary Busey, Ving Rhames and Christopher Lloyd in it so hopefully Piranha 3DD isn’t over the top and turns out to better than the first movie.
I agree it’s always good to see christopher lloyd on screen but where is that fine MILF Elizabeth Shue?
I hated everything about the first movie. Even the “mindless fun” gore and sex came off as stupid and pathedic, count me out for the sequel
