We’ve got the first pic from the upcoming Prince of Persia movie, with star Jake Gyllenhaal trying his best to look the part of titular Prince Dastan. (What, they couldn’t find a Persian actor to play the part?)
I bet right about now Naveen Andrews is feeling pretty slighted.

Anyway, Prince of Persia is based on the popular video game about a young prince (Gyllenhaal) who is tricked by an evil wizard (Ben Kingsley) into unleashing the evil sands of time. The film is being directed by Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and is currently slated for a May 28, 2010 release.

Well animated moives normally take way longer, but with some studios it can go just as fast a real life moives. But it’s clear that the bottom line is we will just have to make our own moive. Or remake the moive if and when this disnsney one flops.

Hey Tony, it would be awsome to make our own film. i’ve made plenty of my own little movies. Nothing big, just small film with friends and family and i want to become a director and show these idiots how to make a moive. But i shouldn’t really talk yet, cause i havn’t put out anything really decent.
I can pull off the wall run, and i have had plenty of weapons training. so i could, but i like being behind the camera if possible. As soon as i get enough money to make any movie i’ll let you know and we can somehow work it out.
Oh and here is my youtube account. I just loaded some small films where i was trying different filming looks and shots. I had comedy contest moive in there too. i know they moslty suck, but let me know what you think. Soon my cousin and i hope to put out a full moive with the animation stuff i’ve leanred. i think is good but just one think the prince is not europ or american pop he is arabic and persian i think the actor not look like realy one of the lot of prince of arabic world it s like if u want to do movie about Mohammed ali and u put actor tom cruz is not possible
hiiiiiiiiii i wanna just say that i saw jake many times here in my town while he was here for the same film in ouarzazate and i ahd the chance to take a picture of him from behind because he was very quick.but he was very handsome and beautiful too.

They should have used Oded Fehr from the Mummy 1 & 2.
I think this could work. Sure he looks like the Warrior Within version, but I’m pretty sure Disney can work with that.
And the whole issue about the name Dastan is that the director simply had to name the character, for the film’s sake. It would have sounded strange if everyone in the film referred to him as “The Prince.” ‘Dastan’ apparently means ‘trickster’ in persian, according to another site I read about this film. People should try and read around subjects before slanting them on forums.
And about the running on walls stuff, have you ever seen ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’? You think those actors actually ran across frikkin trees? No, they probably used harnesses and ropes, which get edited out. So Jake or his stunt doubles will probably be able to do the acrobatics, with some CGI to ramp up the final version.
Looking forward to its release, I hope Jake will do the Prince justice.
Oh, and about the boots, in my opinion they’re awesome! Trying to find a pair similar for myself. Try freerunning in sandals people, if your not hurting or losing a shoe mid walljump, I’ll be impressed.

buff up again huh jake. easy on the steroids. lol. it would have been funny if they casted Will Smith and called it “The Fresh Prince of Persia”.
