Carl Lee says:

I completely agree, Rob. It just doesn’t seem likely that they’ll be throwing Wolvie around and that’s disappointing. The height disadvantage is a classic theme in all the Wolvie villains beyond just Sabretooth… Omega Red, Apocalypse, Black Heart, Cyber, Blob, etc.

I love these images, but what I really want to see is some Deadpool!

Am I the only one that’s excited for Wade Wilson?

steven the git says:

Being lazy I looked at the pics before anything else. It wasn’t until you said he was Sabretooth that I had any idea what character he was playing.

I totally agree. Sabretooth is meant to be a big brutal beast of a thug.
I really liked the bloke in the first movie, but I guess this is one of those times when the execs want a name in.
Although do like Schreiber too.

Daniel F says:

Let us not forget that he will not be able to say “Hey Runt”

manuel87 says:

is the war scene from world war ii? i thought they were using vietnam as the war setting. anybody know?

INK says:

I, for one, am getting sick of all the “Jackman’s too short to be Wolverine” stick. We’ve heard it for years and years now. Get over it, Jackman is Wolverine and that’s not going to change unless he is done with the character. Looking forward to the movie. I’m kind of intrigued (worried) as to how all these characters will be brought together.

@manuel87

I’m pretty sure it’s WWII.

T says:

Y’know, after a while when you ‘tweak’ a character here and there without regards to the source material, it ceases to be the same “character” others really wanted to see. If you go into a bar and order a Rum and Coke but get a Vodka and Cranberry, the only similarity is the alcohol itself. The movie might be good, who knows, but it isn’t the Wolverine from the Comics.

Whoaly says:

I agree. If they can’t make Wolverine shorter.. they should at least make Sabretooth taller. Maybe 7ft to Hughs 6′3.

tim says:

From what I have heard the movie features several conflicts including WWI, WWII, and Vietnam. The pics from the beach landing are totally WWII but the firing squad execution is Vietnam war.

As for the size thing I think they are going for the mirror image thing where Sabertooth is Logan evil reflection. Also sabertooth in this film is Logan’s brother according to what Shreiber told Empire.

Z says:

Uhh, INK. I think you ment to tall, not short.

But yea, I agree. Saber in the first x-men really made Hugh look like a “runt” Not much we can do.

wes says:

The problem is Hollywood is short on huge guys with serious acting chops. I heard the same complaints about Michael Clark Duncan playing the Kingpin in the Daredevil movie. I know he didn’t look like the comic version, but no other actor had the necessary stature without the use of makeup and effects.

HOMER says:

he will be fine!
many people complained about Downey being to short to play 6′2″ Tony Stark
and it worked just fine and no one ever said anything else

Wolverine has 3 movies out and everyone still loves him… i do agree that sabretooh could have been bigger, but i wont judge the material until i have seen the movie.

Jess H. says:

I was expecting Sabertooth to be bigger but im sure that it will all wwork out in the end (hopefully!)

Guys, we just have to accept that this is the “movie” Wolverine – similar to the comic book character, but not identical.

End of story.

Vid says:

I’ve never read Iron Man but has Tony Stark’s height ever really had any impact on his stories? I kind of doubt it. The difference between 6′2″ & Downey’s 5′10″ isn’t as significant as Jackman’s 6′2″ and Wolverine’s 5′6″. Wolvie’s stature does figure much into his character. If they had chosen an actor less than 6′ for Wolvie that would’ve been fine.

Anyway, I think Jackman does a good job of Wolvie. I just separate his movie and comic personas. Next time, we’ll see who they cast. Plenty of good “shorter” actors who could play the role in teh future.

jimmy says:

definately Vid

also stark is by himself and in all the scenes from the film hes not standing with characters who are supposed to bigger or smaller. its nto even comparable

phil says:

if anyone remembers the old xmen cartoons it shows sabretooths origins as a wepon x subject and he was the same size as logan and durining the experiment became the size that we all no him as … they film maker’s must of ignored that .

Rob says:

Aside from using some LOTR size manipulation the size differential is lost yes, but I will take excellent acting chops over dead on appearance match any day of the week. The limited ‘acting’ required for Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth worked fine with a less accomplished actor, but to be so central I think a better actor will make the better film.

jimmy says:

tru rob but no ones asking for dead on appearance. how bout simply one big guy, one small guy

Jess H. says:

I realy dont see the problem with the eight issue, sure Wolverine in the movies is taller then the comic books but their is one key thing about the two. One is a movie and the other is a comic book! Im glad Jackman got the part because he did a really good job, lets just leave it at that.

High Kalibur says:

I don’t see why it was decided not to make Sabretooth bigger like in the comics — that’s one of the great dynamics of their rivalry.

Similarly, Venom is puny in Spider-Man 3, I don’t know why the studios go against making the =villian a lot bigger like they are in the comics but oh well.

I definitely think that Liev Schreiber is a much better choice for Sabretooth, I mean, he can act. And to truly bring the fantastic story of these two arch-rivals to the silver screen will take acting.

I overwhelmingly excited for Wolverine, I’m looking forward to it more than any other movie with a release date. I really hope that Fox does not stay true to its recent reputation of studio meddling and I hope Gavin Hood had the creative freedom he needed to bring Wolverine into manifestation — THE RIGHT WAY.

Hugh Jackman is Wolverine. He does such a great job that I wouldn’t accept another actor playing him. If they would have stuck with that wrestler dude playing Sabretooth there would have been a serious gap in the acting talent. A recast is an excellent decision.

In ‘X-Men’ the Wolverine/Sabretooth rivalry was betrayed drastically. So I am totally down with ignoring those films in relation to Wolverine. In fact, I hope that Wolverine is nothing like the X-Men films. I really hope that Fox redeems themselves with this one.

I’m waiting…

dc says:

we just have to wait and see what comic book movie is gonna bring it…cause i still think Dark Knight will still be on top and ur not gonna get the good effects from a comic book it’s gonna be a little different. just like the first Punisher movie and now look at the new one different people…thats how sequels are. i hope Apocalypse is in wolverine orgins

Sid_Vicious says:

Sid Vicious from WWF/WWE fame should have gotten the part to play Sabretooth.

Sean says:

Hey i now your all p!!!ed about sabertooth being to small but ive read up alot on this movie and i dont think you need to worry. Remember he’s victor creed just like deadpool he’s evolving due to the weapons x program theirs a rumour we’ll see a fully evolved sabertooth by the end of the movie.

shaun says:

ever looked at it as, maybe sabretooth grow over time? his powers make him stronger but bigger too? if not then wow you have too much free time and are very picky.

film looks good cant wait and i think i might just about be able to get over the horrifying fact, theyre the same height lol

Quicksilver says:

As a comics fan i can tell you that silverfox betrays both wolverine and sabretooth in 1963, and shows up sometime later and attacks them both. while the scene looks like WW2, i wouldn’t be surprised if it is vietnam.

Quicksilver says:

@ Whoaly

i agree with your statement. if they couldn’t or refused to use a shorter actor to play wolverine, then they should have made sabretooth much taller.

Quicksilver says:

frankly, i think hugh would have made an excellent gambit. he does have the prettyboy looks (but let him keep the look/beard he had in the movie he made with nicole kidman). gambit and hugh are both 6′3. hugh would have been great for him. or maybe he’s just a bit old. anybody?

Rage says:

I thought i would add this one in the mix. Wolverine was sent by the government to fight the hulk before he ever joined the x-men. while i don’t think we will see the hulk fully in this movie, i think we may see parts of him to let us know that it is the hulk.

JayJay says:

If your a true fan of the X-men your always going to be bitter with the liberties these film studios take. I know I’am. Ok from what I can tell the movie takes us through the history of Wolverine…from the 1800’s through WW2 and Vietnam…all the way up till the time he joined the X-men. My pick for Sabretooth was always Brock Lesnar( The guy is massive and with an acting coach I think he would have done wonderful (plus he’s in his 20’s so he could do sequals) I like Liev but I have a hard time convincing myself that he will be believable…dont get me wrong though I had a good feeling about heath ledger pulling off the joker, but i dont have those same feelings about Liev

pain says:

so far it looks good,am shure the guy playing sabretooth did good, but i would have thought that the same guy from x-men 1 would play him,he had the good bodymass and hight, and even the same hair as sabretooth,so i dont get wy the took this guy,no offense havent seen the movie yet but it looks al in place.
o 1 last thing the side burns from both sabretooth and wolverine are good but a litle exadjurated close to there mouths, making it look to mutch, but he nothings perfect

doriangray says:

ya know . liev acted great . was too small ? , yep . movie was good tho ,,, i like sid vicious as sabertooth . now dats a great ideal ..

Kratos says:

IT IS THE COOLEST MOVIE EVER

Kratos says:

it made wolverine be my favorite superhero and movie.he is awesome and if you hav’nt seen the movie you dont no almost anything about him
