Percy Jackson Lightning Thief Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief International Trailer

The International trailer for Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief has hit the Interweb, and it looks better than the previous trailer(s) that we’ve seen for the film.

The difference? This international trailer actually sets up something of an interesting (and action-packed) story, rather than simply providing us a glimpse at something that looks like yet another Harry Potter knock-off.

Speaking of Harry Potter, Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief is being helmed by Chris Columbus, the same guy who directed the first two installments of the Potter franchise. Percy Jackson is based on the popular young-adult novels by Rick Riordan, and tells the story of a young boy named Percy (Logan Lerman) who discovers he is the descendant of the Greek Gods, only to become embroiled in a god-war.

The cast of actors playing the gods in the movie are made up of some very familiar faces – see if you can spot them in the trailer:

In case you didn’t catch them all, the gods are Pierce Brosnan as Chiron, Uma Thurman as Madusa, Sean Bean as Zeus, Kevin McKidd as Poseidon, Rosario Dawson as Persephone Serinda Swan as Aphrodite, Erica Cerra as Hera, Luke Camilleri¬† as Dionysus, Dylan Neal as Hermes and Melina Kanakaredes as Athena. Also in the cast are Catherine Keener as Sally Jackson and Brandon T. “Tropic Thunder” Jackson as Grover Underwood.

What did you think, did you like the latest trailer?

Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief hits theaters on February 12, 2010.

  1. That last part with Medusa reminds me of Clash of the Titans, lol.

  2. not bad definetly checkin it out

  3. That is actually pretty good and February is not too long away. I’ll probably see it.

  4. Ooh, looks really good. My kind of movie. I love fantasy/action type movies, especially with teenagers.

  5. Now I’m interested.

  6. Just seeing Medusa makes me what to see this. Since I found out this was coming out I started reading the books, which are pretty entertaining and addicting. On the other hand, the casting of the Gods don’t seem quite on target, but I’ll put my trust in Columbus’s film making skills.

  7. Looks good. I’m not usually a fan of teens becoming heroes. I think that works better in books than movies but I’ll probably give it a look.

  8. That was pretty awesome, makes me want to read the books. I love the concept

  9. Never try to miss the chance to see me some Rosario. Yummie! :-) Looks pretty good to me, better than the first teaser.

  10. the books wer great except for the last one cuz i didnt read it yet

  11. lol this is a pen!

  12. Looks like a fun film.

  13. I saw a giant display for this in the theatre, except no “Percy Jackson” in the title. I’d never heard of the books or this movie. I had hoped a trailer would show. After seeing this, I still have no clue as to what a lightning thief is.

I’ll see it! Let’s hope this actor has 3 younger brothers who can act, so he won’t be still doing sequels in his 30′s.

  14. I read the books with my daughter. I have been going back and picking up a lot of children’s books to keep pace with the kids. These were very nice (simplistic at times) but on the whole well written for the age group they are aiming to hit. The trailer from the movie is enough to make me know that I will go see it. Sometimes we just need to be entertained and this appears to be one of those movies.

  15. Read all the books and i hope the movie is just as good.

  16. Looks pretty good! This kind of mystery, adventure and fantasy movies are always fun and entertaining.

  17. i think it looks nothing like the book when i imanged it lol but i am still gunna see it

  18. i LOVE the books i just hope it doesn't suck because when you compare the harry potter books to their movies the movies suck

  19. In the fourth grade, my son won a writing contest and was awarded the opportunity to meet with Rick Riordan, the author of “Lightning Thief”. Now he's in 7th grade and we've both read (and re-read) what became a series of four novels. I couldn't believe it when I saw the commercial for the first time. My entire family is psyched about going to see it tonight!
From what I've seen so far, the movie seems very similar to what I've imagined. Can't wait!

  20. Wow! I thought I was the only one rummaging through my kids' books. Sometimes simplistic is a nice break from adult novels. ;)

  21. Nice catch! This is also based on Greek Mythology. Can't wait to see it!

  22. I have reads the book it seem s pretty on target of the plot. It looks very exciting like the books can't wait to see it!!
