Patton Oswalt recently orchestrated a dinner between David Harbour and Ron Perlman presumably to discuss the upcoming Hellboy reboot. It's no secret that fans had been clamoring for a third and final installment in Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy series for years, starring Perlman as the eponymous character. Despite unwavering interest from longtime fans, Millennium Films is pushing forward with an R-rated reboot, titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, starring Harbour (Stranger Things) as the new Hellboy.

Westworld and Game of Thrones director Neil Marshall will helm the upcoming reboot, based on a script co-written by Andrew Cosby and Christopher Golden. Having another Hellboy movie hit theaters is something comic book fans have been waiting for, but that also means there will never be a concluding chapter in del Toro's series. It appears, though, that Perlman has come to terms with the decision and is even offering his support to Harbour.

Yesterday, Harbour joined Perlman and Oswalt for dinner -- reportedly arranged by self-professed comic book fan, Oswalt -- and presumably discussed the upcoming Hellboy reboot. Oswalt posted a photo of the trio on Twitter, with the following caption joking around about the dinner being a détente: "The summit dinner was a smashing success. Now, to launch my new pop duo, Hellboyz." Take a look:

Perlman also posted the image to his Instagram page, while Harbour responded to Oswalt's tweet by saying, "I'd follow these two into the gates of hell." It's an appropriate response considering the character and stories they were likely discussing. In addition to meeting with Oswalt and Perlman, Harbour has been busy preparing for the upcoming Hellboy reboot. He met with Mignola and Marshall today and even had his right arm fitted for the character's signature limb/weapon, the Right Hand of Doom.

Not since Bill Clinton, Menachem Begin, and Anwar Sadat has there been such an epic summit yelding such a little result! Apparently Patton Oswalt aka balvenieboy thought it was a good idea to host @DavidKHarbour and yours truly for a detente dinner. The result: i gained 3 pounds and ruined my liver. Meanwhile, good luck kid! Signed, the babe. A post shared by Ron Perlman (@perlmutations) on

The timing of Harbour's meetings, and presumably his costume fitting, may confirm reports that suggest the studio wants to begin filming this September. Considering that promotional material for the film surfaced at the Cannes Film Festival indicating a planned 2018 release date, it would seem like the filmmakers are moving at rapid pace to meet that time frame. Of course, we don't know how far they are in the pre-production process. It's possible that they have already met with actors and actresses who will make up the supporting cast.

It makes sense that the studio would want to capitalize on the recent trend of critically and commercially successful R-rated comic book movies, such as Logan, Deadpool, and Kingsman. Acknowledging the fact that longtime fans have been waiting years for another Hellboy movie, this is the opportune time to release the first installment in what could become a new movie series.
