Actually the ‘shots’ the police heard was the sound of the door slamming behind them (the door to the room where the attic entrance is). If you watch the clip again carefully you will see this happen in the background.

When I originally watched this film (via a download), I was greeted by the ending where “Katie” returns to the room, after apparently killing Micah, and proceeds to slit her throat in front of the camera. I did not become aware of a “theatrical” ending until I discussed the movie with someone who had seen it in the theatres. I just watched the “theatrical” ending after all these years, and while “the Micah body through the air” is worthy, the idea of a possessed Katie killing her husband and then herself is hair-raising. I think the idea of not only hurting someone you love (of course not of your own free will), but also yourself (and by such a brutal means), just adds salt to the wound so to speak. Hearing the thuds and screams of Micah allows for the movie to create a sense of fear in the viewer- for we know not what is happening, but can only expect the worst (whatever that may be). We are a helpless observer, such as the passerby who witnesses a mugging but cannot expose themelves for fear they will be shot. Once we get passed the fact something wicked is happening to Micah, we are then truly introduced to the possessed Katie, who then takes us full throttle from having to use our imagination to being completely immersed in obvious violence. Personally, I expected Katie would become possessed, however, I wasn’t expecting the spirit to force her to cut her throat that close to my face! I felt like that particular ending was very dark. I have yet to see the one where the police enter the home, perhaps I’ll think differently once I do.

hey the film your talking about is made by the same guy apparently it was made following the success of paranormal activity hope this sheds some light for you, also thought the film was well made and would be that a lot of people actually think this happened as it sets a real chemistry between the couple and the acting on Katie’s part was brilliant as she actually seem terrified right the way through.

i saw the theatrical version and thought it was a satisfying end to a good film, though if it were upto me i would have had it end with micha running downstairs the scuffle then silence as katie walks back covered in blood with the shadows on the door again but katie’s shadow holding hands with the other then katie getting in to bed then the bed depressing as the demon lays beside her, and then the scene with the police, but thats just me

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can somebody tell me where i can get the paranormal activity 1 ending where she’s rocking. i saw the one where she goes downstaires, screams, kills micah and throws him at the camera, then returns upstaires and stares at the camera. then its over. but PLEASE tell me where the ‘rocking’ ending is, where she’s shot by the police. im DIEING to seee it!!thanks xx

I saw this movie on dvd first, and it was the version where micah’s body flies into the camera and where katie disappears. I liked that version sooo much better than the version I saw later on tv and on the internet (the ”police version”). I’m trying to find a video of it but I can’t find it, the only ending I can find is the police version.Does anyone know where to find it?

I saw this movie and thought it was ok. Not very scary at all. I think it didn’t really scare us because before we saw this movie we had watched another movie called “Paranormal Entity”. I thought this movie was way better than Paranormal Activity although it almost the same story line. Watch Paranormal Entity and see for yourself if you don’t like it more than Paranormal Activity. I thought Entity was way spookier and creapier and so did my girlfriend and her sister. Do not know who copied who but to me Entity was much better than Activity. Check for yourself.

My co-worker and I were talking about this film yesterday and I told her the only thing that was kind of a dissapointment was the ending. I didnt feel like it fit the flow of the rest of the movie. It felt disjointed. The only ending I have seen so far is the one where she lunges at the camera. I was very happy to learn of the ending where she sits on the floor for days. Especially if what fishglen says is true about the cops not knowing where the shots came from. I think this fits much better. I guess I will have to see it before I can be sure.

I almost hope there is no sequel. If there is a sequel I hope they dont do to Paranormal Activity what they did to Blair Witch I thought the sequel to Blair Witch was just a cookie cutter money making marketing opportunity. Although I enjoyed it I dont think It fit with the first film at all and should not have carried the blair witch name.

Please dont ruin paranormal activity by making a big hollywood sequel the couldnt possibly compare to the original.

no, u r not…believe me, the slow pace of the movie made the movie seem more original, captivating and made the audience more & more anxious about whats gonna happen the next night…. the best horror movie I have seen post “The Ring” in 2002

The police ending: She was not shot by the police as they radio “SHOTS FIRED” , you dont see any flash from there guns, and if you listen, the cops are saying ” where did the shots come from? thats why they go to check out the other rooms.
