paranormal activity 2 New Paranormal Activity 2 Trailer Has More Than Meets The Eye

Paramount Pictures has kept the plot of its upcoming supernatural horror sequel, Paranormal Activity 2, thoroughly under wraps.  The recently-released second teaser does not so much hint at the film’s plot as it requires viewers to literally dissect the short preview in order to learn anything new.

Paranormal Activity was a micro-budgeted project that became a hit sensation following a unique viral advertising campaign that promoted the feature as an utterly terrifying filmgoing experience.  The marketing scheme for the sequel has been more minimalist in design and has virtually gone out of its way to keep moviegoers in the dark about everything related to the movie.

What is know is that Paranormal Activity 2 was directed by indie filmmaker Tod Williams and scripted by Michael R. Perry.  Who exactly stars in the movie is another question – even Katie Featherston (Katie in the first Paranormal Activity) has not been officially confirmed as a cast member.

The original Paranormal Activity 2 teaser was composed of footage from the conclusion of its predecessor and security camera shots of a different house – with particular focus on a nursery that was populated by a baby, German Shepherd, and a woman who may or may not be Katie.  Watch the new teaser below and see if you can spot anything else on your first viewing:

Chances are the only difference you noticed between this new teaser and the original one was the reverse-motion footage at the end.  MTV meticulously broke down and analyzed this second trailer frame by frame and discovered a handful of intriguing, if enigmatic, Easter eggs.

First, here is a better look at the mystery woman that appears briefly – and the baby whose reflection in the mirror is visible, even when he (or she) is not actually visibly present in the room:

Is it a possessed Katie?  The baby’s mother?  Or a entirely different, possibly possessed woman?  Nothing is clear at this point – other than the fact that the baby seems to be important to the plot of Paranormal Activity 2, as is also implied by the next image that appears very briefly in the teaser:

Who is leaping out at the baby in this frame?  Is it the woman from before?  One of the child’s parents?  Why is the kid outside?  And who is the individual with the green thumbnail, holding the baby in this next “don’t blink and you’ll still miss it” image from the new teaser?

The marketers for Paranormal Activity 2 have taken what could be dubbed the “Cloverfield approach”: reveal as little information as possible in order to pique the interest of moviegoers and convince them to check out the film in theaters – if only so they can find out just what exactly the movie is about.

Paranormal Activity 2 arrives on October 22nd, 2010 – just in time for Halloween.  We shall have to wait until then to find out how excited moviegoers are to discover the secrets of this sequel.

  1. In the second tailer, i believe, there’s a girl with a picture, and it shoots back to the first PA where the picture of the little girl is burned.. remember, Katies house burnt down? And by watchign the trailer for PA2, i SWORE i saw candles, but i’m not completely sure..

I think, that it’s a movie about Katie, as a child,.. before anything in PA happened…

In PA, remember how she said that she’s ALWAYS had a demond?!

But there was also something said about the sister..

All i nkow is that i am SO excited for this to come outtt. haahaha.

  2. If you look at when the chair is rocking a baby pops up beside it and goes bk down….dont know what is means but look out for it!

  3. From what I have heard from people and read on different websites, PA2 is about Katie’s sister’s family and the baby, who’s name is Hunter, is Katie’s nephew. I watched a small 15 or so second clip today that actually featured Katie playing with Hunter, so it is hard to tell if this story is taking place before or after PA. Depending on which ending you watched of PA, Katie didn’t actually die, she just disappeared. I’m excited to see what this is really all about!

  4. The sequel contains a back-story where we learn that Katy’s childhood possesion was actually brought about by Micah himself, though neither of them have ever realised this. They have both been manipulated by the demon since early childhood, who is attempting a sort of “Rosemary’s Baby” incarnation into human form.

  5. is the baby hurt in the movie? well the question is “does he die”?

  6. The trailer was different to the movie I saw last night.
    There was no baby outside
No one walked out from the closet
the baby didn’t disapear in the mirror
And looks like different camera angles

Is there 2 versions or something?

    • Yeah the trailer is definitely different from the movie. Wtf. Im assuming there are 2 different versions of the movie…

    • Just saw the Movie this afternoon and The trailer is much more sexy and intriguing than the Movie. It seems like the new Hollywood strategy. They show more appealing micro-stories in the trailer in order to gain potential audience attention. Same happened to me with RED where the trailer shows them all young and that is not shown in the movie.

  7. If you look up the plot for paranormal activity two, it says that it takes place DURING the hauntings to Katie and Micah.

The film starts 3 months before the hauntings of Micah and Katie. Katie’s sister moves into a new home around the corner from Micah and Katie, during this time Katie’s sister’s family begins to have suspicious feelings they are not alone in this house. They return home one day to find a trashed house but nothing stolen. Katie starts to talk with her sister about what happened when they were younger and how they were tormented by a demon. Micah is fascinated with the HD camera that Katie’s sister has bought to document their youngest son Hunter’s first months. More creepy and paranormal things begin to start over following nights around the same time things start to happen with Katie and Micah. The family doesn’t seek help from anyone and the family goes through terrifying nights of distress. Hunter, the 3 month old baby, starts to be tormented by the demon, as does the dog. The youngest daughter starts to investigate the mysterious happenings and tries to convince the family but nothing seems to come from it.

found this from a website. going see the movie in about an excited!!

  9. so is there 2 versions this is driving be crazy

  10. i couldnt help to say but in the trailer it shows the baby being dragged along the baby bed type thing cought or whatever you want to call it, however it dragged up the end of the bed head first (head to the roof) whereas i have seen the film and in the film the baby is dragged up the end of the bed on its side (feet and head on either sides of the bed) i dont get how they trailer could possibly be different from the film although paranormal activity 1 had like 3 different endings ?

  11. notice in the picture were katie is that in the mirror, hunter is standing up in the crib, thn look at the crib and hes laying downn..

  12. it isnt katie, its her sister

  13. Scary movie. Saw it yesterday. Highly reccomend!
