No need to double-check, you read that headline right.
The folks over at Dreamworks (a division of Paramount) have reminded us of a time when being a movie studio actually meant something, by deciding NOT to remake the already-horrifying Paranormal Activity. In unrelated news, a recent survey of Hell shows the climate of the region down ten degrees from this time yesterday.
Paranormal Activity was a 2007 film about a young couple whose home is haunted be demonic spirits. The film was shot in the “Blair Witch” shaky-cam style and was the first film by writer/director Oren Peliwas. While undoubtedly an inferior remake would bring in millions, the original film was considered so good that… well, I’ll let you hear it straight from the horse’s mouth:

The man behind the quote is Steve Schneider, credited with producing Paranormal Activity (he’s also got several films in Development, including The Colony and The Flock).

I also recommend you read the review for Paranormal Activity as well. Bloody-Disgusting’s Brad Miska says “Nightmares are guaranteed.” Who doesn’t love to wake up screaming?
Paranormal Activity is set to play at Fantastic Fest on September 25th (check back then, as Screen Rant will be covering the event). As of now, theatrical release details have not been made public.
Do you think The Blair Witch could have been improved if it had been remade with a ton of money behind it? If so, I’d think the same could be said for Paranormal Activity. Then again, I haven’t actually seen the film – but if Hollywood thinks it’s good enough NOT to be remade, I certainly feel motivated to check it out.

however…. I’m not a fan of the whole shaky cam style of shooting ( Blair Witch is 2 hours I’ll never get back ) , so I’ll oass on any showing of PA .

Let me get this straight: They remade The Exorcist, The Ten Commandments, The Day the Earth Stood Still, but this movie is too good to be remade? There’s something rotten in Denmark, Hamlet!

Oh, wait a minute, they didn’t remake The Exorcist, they just made a prequel. Sorry about that. But they did do a remake of Ten Commandments and it wasn’t good.

@Rasta… No kidding. BWP 2 actually made me want to sue someone and I’m not that type of personality. I actually felt dumber having watched it.
I have tried hunting this movie down. Searched torrents and ended up finding it on binverse. Its called paranormal activity, dead zone 2007. It is not being released in the uk and i really want to see the film so the torrent way was the only way. I opened up trial account, downloading the movie now, then going to close account. Ill keep updated on wot the movie is like…. M
I have a question, and it might seem dumb. What is the difference between Paranormal Activity (2007) and Paranormal Activity (2009)?? Is it a remake? Ive been trying to find out, but I cant seem to find the answer. Someone help me out please.
