Disney attempts to recreate the magic (read: box office profits) of its Alice and Wonderland semi-sequel by next taking a venture into the land of Oz. Spider-Man Trilogy director Sam Raimi will have quite the diverse year of blockbuster projects under his belt, producing the Evil Dead remake and directing this Wizard of Oz prequel, Oz the Great and Powerful.

Watch the Oz the Great and Powerful Super Bowl trailer to see more of this whimsical take on the classic world created by L. Frank Baum.

Oz the Great and Powerful, from director Sam Raimi, follows the life of Oscar Diggs (James Franco), an ambitious circus magician who is swept away to the Land of Oz. Following his arrival in the faraway place, Oscar finds himself at the center of a power struggle between the Oz witches, Glinda (Michelle Williams), Theodora (Mila Kunis), and Evanora (Rachel Weisz), that could spell doom for the creatures and people of Oz. Not knowing who to trust, Oscar must find his own path in the mysterious land – a path that will prepare him for his role as the iconic Wizard of Oz.

  1. Whatever happened to RDJ?

    • Rated PG? Lame.

      I still might see this.

  2. Michelle Williams looks so gorgeous in this! I like the cast and Raimi, so Im in!

  3. Im a bit skeptical…….mainly because i cant see Raimi actually making a good film after the disaster of Spiderman 3 and the near disaster of four (which, luckily, never went into production). I dont know, this might be good. Im still going to go see it but i really dont have high expectations, i just hope this doesnt become ANOTHER cinematic mess.

    • Well hia last film was drag me to hell which was very successful

      • True, i cant argue there. But like i said, its going to take ALOT for me to try and ignore his past with the Web-head. Im willing to go see the movie but i just cant get the image of Raimi and his trilogy out of my head. Im probably going to be expecting ol’ Sandy to show up in Oz after having disappeared into the night at the end of SM3

        • Spiderman 2 was phenomenal, lest you forget…

    • Blame Raimi all you want, that was entirely studio interference ruining Spiderman 3.

      • I though Spiderman 2 was ok, it could have been better but its whatever to be honest. As for three, im sorry but i still blame Raimi. He really f**ked that one up in my own opinion, and i respect yours but i just feel that he personally messed it up.

        • Yeah, he purposely messed it up so the studio could stop making more Spiderman movies after forcing him to make the decisions that made Spiderman 3 garbage.

  4. Redboxing this one

  5. This looks amazing ! Raimi is one of the best directors out there, can’t wait for this one !

  6. not interested. Looks like Alice 2 basically. I grew up watching the original on TV every year. Not a fan of the Actor, the look, or the CG. I will pass.

  7. Well hia last film was drag me to hell which was very successful

    • Some one already wrote that and i responded homes……..

  8. This looks awesome and I am looking forward to it as direction is looking good this time too by Raimi.

  9. I’ll be honest, the cinematography is enough to get me to watch this one.

  10. COOL!
