Thanks everyone for your comments!

Soundtack? Hmm, yet another dandy sample that totally passed me by without notice from a TRUE soundtrack pro. Thanks for the note and I'll snatch that up this weekend!

I agree completely with having a "longer in the tooth" somebody to take this one in. I don't know I'd take the people you have there but I agree completely that it needs to be someone older. I've just finished up JERICHO, season 1 with my wife in some on and off marathoning of that DVD set, and WOW: Gerald McRaney, anyone? I REALLY like the character they've made there and - couldn't you see him here? Perhaps too geriatric, but he's got moxy for sure.

Keep the comments coming and again my thanks for pushing them through!

Loved Outland for how downbeat and grim it was, and the suspicion, for good reason. Felt like a darker High Noon, as well as a scifi version.

Not sure another version is needed, but could be cool.

It's a terrible shame Jerry Goldsmith has passed away. One of the truly remarkable things about the original Outland film was Goldsmith's absolutely fantastic score.

I'd have a lot of trouble imagining a remake of this film without that gorgeous music.

I would rather see someone like Willem Dafoe play the protagonist and someone charismatic like Liam Neeson or Harrison Ford play the villain... Although I haven't seen the original so I don't know if there would be a conflict there or what...

well you need someone on the supposed down side, i.e. a nice grizzled old action star to take this one, so I would suggest someone like Liam Neeson, Harrison Ford, or perhaps Danny Glover, since they are most definately a bit longer in the tooth than they used to be. It all comes down to the casting, because the story is strong enough on it's own as long as they can adhere to the basics (not something that Hollywood is always good at tho). Just like the original High Noon, Gary Cooper was iconic, Grace Kelly was equally appealing as the woman who understands, but doesn't, if you get my drift. Outland had Frances Sternhagen who did a fine job in Outland, as did the late Peter Boyle, although no disrespect to the actors cast, the wife and son were certainly disposable. Charlie Sikking had a nice turn as the corrupt Deputy. Maybe if you're looking for a baddie to cast, you can scrounge up Willem Dafoe perhaps.

As long as Peter Hyams isn't allowed anywhere near it, it should be okay.

I loved Outland. One of those handful of great gritty peter hyams Sci-Fi films that had the look of the original Alien film sets and atmosphere. Space was dirty and gritty in those films. Not sure about a remake but the premise of the original, High Noon is space was quite good. Not sure who if anyone could play the Connery role. Saw Clive Owne at another site, I suppose he would be ok
