It was horror versus Keanu at the box office this weekend, with both turning out decent debuts.

In at number 1 is Ouija (read our review) with $20 million. That's the second best opening of the year for a horror film, behind Annabelle's $37 million earlier this month.

Although few expected they would ever see a movie based on the concept, Ouija did fairly well with younger viewers. It should also hold stronger than most thanks to the upcoming Halloween weekend.

The number 2 film this weekend is John Wick (read our review) with $14.1 million. The Keanu Reeves action flick has been generating a ton of buzz over the past few weeks, but that wasn't enough for it to take the top spot.

John Wick Action Scenes Sequences

Still, given that strong word of mouth we wouldn't be surprised to see the film hold serve for at least another week. Whether it will generate enough profit to secure a sequel is yet to be determined.

Fury fell to number 3 this weekend with $13 million. Analysts expected the Brad Pitt war flick would hold better than it did over the weekend, but $46 million after two weeks isn't bad.

Coming in at number 4 is Gone Girl with $11.1 million. Now at $124 million, Gone Girl is inching closer to becoming director David Fincher's highest grossing move ever. It should pass The Curious Case of Benjamin Button ($127 million) within the week.

Rounding out the top 5 is The Book of Life with $9.8 million. Like Fury, this animated film fell a bit more than expected, and at $29 million after two weeks is unlikely to turn off a profit.

Bill Murray and Jaeden Lieberher in St. Vincent

In at number 6 is the indie comedy St. Vincent (read our review) with $8 million. The film, which stars Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy, did very well in wide release and is now up to $9 million.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is the number 7 film with $7 million. The family friendly adaptation is up to $45 million domestic.

The Best of Me comes in at number 8 with $4.7 million. The romantic film continues to track below the average Nicholas Spark adaptation and at $17 million after two weeks will not do much better than breaking even.

The number 9 film is The Judge with $4.34 million. It may have star power galore, but at only $34 million The Judge is nothing to write home about.

Robert Downey Jr. as Hank in 'The Judge'

Rounding out the top 10 is Dracula Untold with $4.3 million, which brings its domestic total up to $48 million. Universal can't be happy about the film's turnout, especially considering they'd hoped to launch a movie monsters cinematic universe off this film.

Outside the top 10: Birdman (read our review) continues to do well in limited release with $1.4 million on 50 screens ($28,720/screen), and Guardians of the Galaxy became the third highest grossing movie worldwide with $752M.
