The 87th Annual Academy Awards ceremony is now finished, with Neil Patrick Harris having served as the host for this year's Oscars show. A handful of acclaimed films ended up taking home some gold for their technical qualities. Meanwhile, screen performers ranging from seasoned vets like J.K. Simmons and Julianne Moore (along with relative youngsters like Eddie Redmayne) ended up taking home an Oscar in an acting category.

Overall, while such films as The Grand Budapest Hotel and Whiplash secured multiple Academy Awards, it was Birdman that secured the top two prizes of the night: Best Director and Best Picture. Interestingly, though, all eight Best Picture nominees this year ended up winning at least one Oscar, for elements ranging from sound editing to screenplay, acting, and more.
