According to Reuters (and other sources) the TV ratings for the Academy Awards were down 10% from last year.
What did they expect?
You have an awards ceremony that “honors” movies that a relatively small percentage of the population has seen along with attendees who are pushing one agenda or another.
They seem to be purposely alienating the very people they want to tune in and watch the program. And then they’re suprised when the masses don’t tune in and watch?
Duh.

Yep, the Oscars are becoming less relevant every year. Still, I thought Jon Stewart did a good job as host. My favorite line of the evening was, “For those of you who are keeping score — Martin Scorsese: zero Oscars. 36 Mafia: one.”

Heh… yeah, I heard about that line.

Can you imagine being someone who has a great story to tell trying to pitch it to this lot?
Thank God for books.
Yeah, pretty pathetic, really. The little world that the denizens of Hollywood live in seems to be shrinking smaller year after year.

Lost my faith in the Academy since the 90’s.
