well then send a memo for your people to get on it Vic. I agree that Leverage is orth keeping an eye on. It’s not great but it does have it’s moments and watching the bad guys slowly adapting to being good guys is a lot of fun as you get those wonderful moments of conflict. Plus the appreciation of the skills that each of them bring to the job.

Piratedan, what’s the jist of (Leverage)? I’ve heard of it but not much else,,,, :-)

piratedan says:

Leverage – the main character is played by Tim Hutton, former insurance fraud investigator who loses his own son (and eventually his job and marriage) due to the insurance company that he works for, denying the claim for his sons’ medical treatment. Dwells in drink and is just getting by when someone makes him an offer that couples him with some known ne’er do wells to steal back a secret formula ala corporate black ops style. The maguffin is that it’s a setup and sham. They narrowly escape and turn the tables on the folks that used them. They make enough money after righting the initial wrong by stealing the bad guy’s money that they all end up comfortable and set for life. So they are convinced by Hutton’s character to try righting wrongs for a change by using their combined skills to help those that can’t help themselves. The crew involves Hutton as the mstermind,plus a grifter (and potential love interest for Hutton), a thief, a hacker and a “hitter”. It’s formulaic, but the characters have some decent lines and they do a decent job of disguising their twists.

Vic,

THanks for adding the latest comments back to the screen. I also like the latest headlines links too. It makes things alot easier to navigate instead of having to hit the homepage after every article. Site is as great as usual.

@Andy

You’re welcome – I hope more than a couple of people use the latest comments feature. :)

Leverage: corporations are evil, crooks are good if they steal from corporations and blackmail them.

Best I could do to summarize it in one sentence. :-P

790 says:

Yeah I picked up “Leverage” season 1 for 20 bucks on Dvd the other day.

Haven’t watched it yet but buyers beware some of the episodes are out of broadcast order. You have to pay attention to the air dates. Thankfully those are labeled inside the case.

Nice to hear the comments on Leverage. For fans of it, I’d also recommend renting the BBC series “Hustle” which certainly had to be known by the creators of Leverage. Similar grifter team-based show doing long cons, but less Robinhood going on. Stars Robert Vaughn.

piratedan says:

well Ken, based on what the news has been broadcasting lately about corporate excess, maybe they’ve struck a chord. I know full well that there are plenty of businesses out there that do good, even great work, but I think it’s obvious that there are others that certainly fit the profile.

Ken J says:

I’m sure the news has no agenda to report the way they do, but anyway, it’s a tv show. I’m sure it’ll be entertaining to some like Robin Hood is a good story for some…
