As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself – just remember to play nice. icon smile Open Discussion September 7, 2012

  1. I watched the raid and Chinatown yesterday. Chinatown was a great film, didn’t really like the end. but I’m glad I enjoyed an older film.

    • Chinatown is a classic!

I watched Shark Night yesterday…I didn’t expect much obviously, but god it was awful, probably the worst thing I have seen this year..

  2. I been watching Power Rangers seasons 1-7 dvd box sets. I just got into Zeo now. Memories, lol.

    • My personal faves are eye guy and that frog that ate them.
      And the tombstone monster.

      • @ Cody

I have so many faves to list, but Terror Toad as you refered to is one of my top favorites.

    • I am almost at the season 2 finale.

      • DrSam, you got the box sets too huh?

        • Sadly not, I couldn’t find them over here and the online price was quite horrific. So I, uh, downloaded every season.

          • Oh, i see.

          • How many seasons you got? I bought mine from I thought it was reasonable price for 7 seasons & some the special features on dvds are great. Though they i wish they had more, like toy commercials, power ranger music videos. Can’t believe how old the rangers look now from back then, lol. Can’t believe it’s been that long ago.

  3. I may go see Branded tonight, thoughts?

  4. Also I just read that shane black is direction the american death note film adaptation and has stayed steadfast in wanting to stay true to the manga.
To me this is good news, great director, a fan of the novel and wants to it right.

  5. Going to see Dredd on Sunday, 3D only unfortunately. No cinema in London is showing it in 2D that I can find. Oh well.

    • Let us know what u think of it. It looks good from what I’ve seen and heard.

      • Never in my wildest dreams did i think Dredd would get such universal praise it’s getting. I still think it’s 100% on RT ( for now ) out of 27 reviews. Hopefully the american audience will see the rave reviews and give it a go. The general consensus atm is it’s a breath of fresh air to have a hard R rated comic book flick and finally something that is faithful to the source material.

Erase Stallone from your memory, give Batman a couple of weeks off and enjoy a comic book movie not compromised for a wider audience. We need to embrace movies like this.

        • The first 20 reviews for Spiderman were 100% lets dial it back slightly lol

  6. Hey ScreenRant,
I just wanted to say that I love it when you put a poll at the bottom of an artical. It is a fun, quick way to share your opinion, and it is interesting to see the results.

    • Everyone loves polls… :)

      • Except politicians when their stats are down.

  7. Finally got around to watching Prometheus yesterday. Contrary to all the complaining on the internet about plot holes and dumb character decisions it was a very enjoyable and all too rare experience. There are not nearly enough movies set in space these days. Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender were great and visually the movie is just top notch. I also loved the score, especially the main theme. I’ll definitely purchase that soundtrack.

Just the scenes with Guy Pearce were very weak. I just couldn’t buy into that rather bad old man makeup and acting.

    • I liked the score also. but what threw me off was right when the movie ended slow piano music started playing. didn’t fit the tone of the film at all

      • Yeah, many people (including me) in the theater started laughing a bit when the credit music started, because it felt so cruely sarcastic after what we’ve just witnessed.

  8. Wow…I just read through almost 20 comments, and not a mention of Batman this or Batman that. I’m rather impressed.

    • Batman is awesome!!…just saying…

      • Agreed!! Batman, the worlds greatest detective :)

    • Look what you did…… By mentioning something that hasn’t happened you inadvertently made it happen. “Learn this lesson grasshopper, commenting on Screenrant is not for amateurs”.

    • Batman is my co-pilot.

    • After thousands of Nolan/Batman threads, do you really need another one? The trilogy is done, I´m sure you can find another thread to talk about that matter elsewhere.

      • A batman (or batwoman) is a soldier or airman assigned to a commissioned officer as a personal servant.

        “You rang sir?”

  9. Does anyone know what the house at the the of the street is called

    • house at the the of the street?

    • Barry

  10. Saw Total Recall in theaters today. I’ve never seen the original movie, or read the book, but for me the flick was okay.
The movie was definitely way too long IMO, and every time I thought it was done, they do something else… which was very annoying (especially the part about the “wife” at the very end – I don’t see any reason why they included that. It didn’t add anything to the story, and it actually raised the question: how did she escape the explosion?!)

The action was pretty good though, and while most of the story was predictable, there were a few surprises (that scene with the prostitute had me chocking on my popcorn… definitely didn’t expect THAT in a PG13 movie lol).
I’d give it a 3 out of 5, but it’s not something I’d want to re-watch very soon.

  11. Finally saw The Hunger Games. Pretty good. though i wouldve liked it more if there was more of a danger to the characters. half the time they seemed to be just sitting around, talking in the open. 7/10.

  12. Paramount has registered the domain names “startrekintodarkness” and “startrekintodarknessmovie”.

Not 100% confirmation of the movies title yet though, but it’s a massive clue.

  13. Hi all,

TV Channel hear is NZ have started replaying Nip/Tuck form the start one of those shows I missed first time round – is t a bad, average, good, great or excellent show…??

    • It has it’s moments

  14. i just watched Battleship on BD, and while it certainly had its fair share of some cheesiness, it wasn’t terrible, except maybe for rhianna…not really much of an actress. the f/x were good, and i liked how they incorporated some of the game play into the movie. i would give it 2.5, almost a 3 out of 5 stars for me. many people felt like it was more transformers-like, but i felt it had more of an independence day feel to it. some of the sound choices were not great, especially the overly loud radio signal going into space at the beginning, but it was worth a rental, or maybe a cheap purchase in the wal-mart $5 bin. there is an after credit scene in case anybody decides to watch it.

  15. We desperately need a Time Transporter so we can start the summer of 2013 NOW!
