  1. I dont know how many of you liked Crank, but i did. So this weekend i finally got to watch crank 2….. WHAT were they thinking??? It was aweful, i almost had to turn it off. The only reason i didnt was because i had nothing else to watch. are they really going to make a third?

  2. Ken

    I liked Crank 2. Just a crazy, crazy film. Loved the 70′s ‘homage’ moments and the Godzilla-esque part just had me in stitches.

    TBH if you go to see a movie with a plot where the hero’s heart has been removed and he’s powered by a battery needing constant top-ups are you surprised when that movie takes unbelievability to the nth degree?

  3. So anyone see House on Monday? loved the episode, was really good in parts (and kind of…eh in others).

    But I think you’ll find, if you trawl through the comments on this website, I kind of almost predicted the ending.

    *SPOILER*

    I remember saying somewhere that he’d likely get out of the asylum after a few episodes end everything would be normal from then on and lo and behold, he’s out after 2 episodes. :p

  4. Could “Interstellar” be the scientifically accurate version to this past summers “Star Trek?”

  5. Does anyone else die a little inside when they hear of a new ‘reboot’? Honestly, when there are an infinite amount of original stories to be told (including book adaptations that are begging to be made) it really boils my …. when studios want to re-cast and re-tell a story released only a couple of years ago.

    Note to studios – No, you failed. Try something new and come back to it in 10 years time when it’s fresh.

    This micro-rant doesn’t include sequels (hell, release them the next day if you like) but it just smacks of dollar-chasing opportunism to continually exploit and destroy the same intellectual property time and again.

    This frustration has mostly came about because now studios see ‘comic-book movies’ as cash-cows. They’re going to flog them til they die and much like the westerns of yesteryear we’ll reach saturation point and no-one will want to see another superhero movie ever again!

    Hands up who thinks Highlander will better the original? Nope didn’t think so.
    /rant off

  6. @jordi

    “Hands up who thinks Highlander will better the original?”

    Unlikely, but have you watched Highland lately? That film does not age well. :p

  7. Highlander had an interesting premise but the ending was weak and a little disappointing. Number two was a little less interesting with more disappointment. By number three even Christopher Lambert and the alien angle could hold my interest. The series and all the rest, I dodged it. Remake needs a popular strong lead actor and a better ending. I’m with you on the doubts. They should wait another generation. Which might not be a bad idea for “Excalibur” as well. Even with Copyrights extended out 50 years the properties will eventually expire, unless the laws are changed again. So remakes will be with us for a long time.

  8. Love Crank 2 Hope they do Crank 3

  9. I’m looking forward to the Smallville season premiere on Friday. I’m also looking forward to checking out Flash Forward. Not too often does a new series have me interested, but Flash Forward does. I just have this feeling that it’s not going to be too popular and it’ll be cancelled after I really get into it (i.e. Journeyman).

  10. I loved the fact in the first 30 seconds of the new episode of “Fringe” …..JJ gave us a LENS FLARE and then did not do it again all episode. I think he did it because he COULD! I agree with you on HOUSE joshi….do not watch much major network TV but House is an exception. Agree with Andy on Journey man…..

  11. OMG I loved Journeyman! Why would they cancel that show, it was such a fresh new idea. The Time Travelers Wife was kind of a copy of the whole story line.

  12. JJ still using lens flare? what a surprise!

    @Joshi

    I watched House last night and loved it. They didn’t get all crazy like most shows think they have to and they opened the season with some great acting. I was very happy to see the girl The Bourne Identity in it. I didn’t even know it was her at first.

  13. Yeah it took me a while to realise it was her.

    I actually loved that save for a very short scene with Wilson, House was the only regular in that episode. I thought at least Cuddy would show up at some point, but no, just House. That was kind of brave of them.

    What I wasn’t too fond of was *spoiler*

    the whole superhero guy “saving” the mute girl. Seemed like the emotion there was a little too forced. That and House’s room mate asking for meds at the end, I thought it’d have been a little more poignant for him to ask for a pen and paper to write his raps down on.

    But I’m just splitting hairs, it was truly a great episode, it’ll probably end up being one of my favourites.

  14. I finally saw Wolverine and I enjoyed it. I realize it was riddled with holes but it was an entertaining film. I can’t seem to understand the craze/excitement over deadpool however. I have the first appearance of deadpool in New Mutants #98 (I think) , he was poorly drawn and average then and thanks to Ryan Reynolds and Origins: Wolverine, nothings changed. Oh man, I really can’t believe that character is getting his own movie!! What about Collossus/Magik, or CYCLOPS/HAVOK or even a freakin’ Rogue movie. I’d rather see artie and leech get their own movie, not deadpool.

    AND

    Have any of you guys heard anything new on GHOSTBUSTERS 3?

  15. @ George:

    THANK YOU!!!! “The Bourne Identity!” I haven’t watched “House” since the second season, despite my admiration of Hugh Laurie, but this premise had me tuned in. And that girl… I couldn’t place her to save my life! Jesus, it’s so obvious right now! THANK YOU!!!!

  16. @jordi, I’m with you word for word but do you really believe it’s all about a good story with the studio execs?

    It’s all about the money, always has been, always will be.

    @Joshi. I respectfully disagree. Highlander has aged beautifully! Just like Blade Runner, Star Wars and The Sound Of Music.
    Just as there will never be another Freddie Mercury there will never be another soundtrack like Hightlander.

    Most ‘Reboots’ are cinematic sacrilege! Again, it’s all about the money.

  17. interested in flash forward. glad heroes is back, even though it has slowed down, could be a good season. looking forward to the final season of lost. sad sarah connor chronicles isn’t coming back.

  18. @JessSayin

    Heh, fair do’s, I have friends who swear Highlander is one of the greatest films ever. To them I also respectfully disagree, it was good when it came out, but I stand by my statement.

  19. btw good debut episode on Castle to start their 2nd season. Good chemistry with the cast and they find a way to keep the dialog real and the relationships more so. Then again, I have a guy crush on Nathan, but it’s just because he’s got that mischieveous lil boy thing workin for him that I am so envious of.

  20. Btw, Sarah Connor Chronicles final season just came out on dvd yesterday.

    The new “Halo ODST” game is outstanding!
    I recommend starting out on Heroic difficulty.

  21. Hey 790 Quick question; Does the New “Halo” get more under the helmet, more characterization? :)

  22. Yeah Old Man it does actually ,,,
    You play a rookie shock trooper that lands in a Covenant occupied South African city. As you go along throughout the campaign you uncover remnants of your squad. When that happens you then relive what happened to that character in his perspective. Once you’ve played/lived through his landing the chapter/story ends and you play the rookie again right where you left off,,,,,,,

    Its actually a original new concept in campaign gaming.
    There’s plenty of banter and character interaction… However I’ve yet to see what the rookie looks like. :-)

  23. Thanks for the rundown 790!!!

  24. I think were talking game of the year Old Man,,, ;-)

    The levels are huge and the game is just as epic as any of the previous Halo games. It also includes characters from the Halo novels.

    I forgot to mention that the game comes as a 2 disc release. The campaign on one disc and the Halo 3 multiplayer experience on the other. That disc contains over 24 maps including “Sandbox” and 3 brand new maps. 8-O

  25. Jessie

    the thing that stinks about the first house episode is that the woman from the bourne identity left at the end. I was excited to see her appear and then thought she might stay on. But then they had to get rid of her and totally bring me down. I guess house can’t have a love interest.

  26. @George Costanza

    Yeah, but that was the way he was “cured”. She had to leave, else House would have likely had to stay in that asylum for a bit longer.

    I’d be interested to see if House can make anything work with Cuddy actually.

  27. Joshi

    I didn’t think about that. I guess they had to figure out a way to cure him and get him out of the nut house.

  28. Plus, she was married, she had kids, it never would have worked.

  29. @joshi

    ***SPOILER ABOUT HOUSE SEASON PREMIER***
    I worked through House, but downloaded it and watched it last night. Pretty good episode, it had its moments, the music box moment was kind of weird, a little too simple, and predictable. But it was cool to watch House meet his match with the head Psychiatrist. One disappointment was not seeing that stupid Doctor that tormented Freedom Master get owned in some way, I was expecting it, but it never came… oh well.

    Oh, and about no other regulars, I believe Cuddy had a short short little part in the very beginning, you see her peeking in the window of the room during that beginning sequence where you see him being weened off the drugs.
    ***END SPOILER***

    @the old man, jordi, and joshi re:highlander

    I’m not a fan of reboots but at the same time, not completely against it. While some reboots are definitely not necessary and only risk to ruin a classic (Red Dawn, Highlander), some reboots were definitely worth the time and gave us something memorable (Batman Begins, Casino Royale, The Incredible Hulk), and then those are the movies that NEED to be rebooted, like Fantastic Four, and if they can only reboot X-Men 3 without messing with the rest, I’d be all for that. If they can do that, they can target T3 next, lol.

    But about Highlander, as much as I liked Christopher Lambert for the role, I am really interested in seeing Kevin McKidd take a crack at it…

    @Andy S re: Journeyman

    I was opposite of you with Journeyman, I liked it in its first few episodes, but the whole anti-government pro-hippy stuff started to make the later episodes dumb. I started to care more for the romance between the characters than anything else, lol. Weird… But anyway, I could see why it was cancelled, it started to get a bit repetitive and lost its charm after a little while for the most part, at least in my opinion.

    @Wickamo re: Journeyman

    Fresh new idea? Have you seen Quantum Leap?? :-P

    @George re: House

    I thought that blonde chick playing the doctor was great… but then again, it might just be because she was so cute… So not sure if my opinion of her is completely objective, lol.

    @790

    I never found any of the Halo games to be “epic.” Too much of a console arcade shooter, but then again, that’s exactly what it is, lol. I’ve already preordered Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (for PC of course, the way shooters are meant to be played), that type of game is more what I would consider “epic.” Hopefully it lives up to the original Operation Flashpoint, which I’ve played through completely 4 times at least, each time trying to beat every mission in a new and unique (read: stupid) way, lol. I love the open-endedness of that game… I can’t wait for news on Half Life 2: Episode 3 (name should have been Half Life 3: Episode 3, but they made a booboo and admitted it lol). My friend has become quite the Xbox fanboy, so perhaps he’ll get ODST, then I can try it out and say for sure, right now it’s all just speculation based on the other Halo games I’ve played. Can’t wait for Bioshock 2 though.

    @George and Joshi re: House

    Yah, I’m not sure how nuts I would be about him having a relationship with someone who was married with kids… I know a lot of guys don’t give a crap and are completely open to cheating as long as they don’t get caught, but I’m very very against that…
