Just a couple thoughts…

I’ve watched Iron Man 4 times since it has come out on dvd,,, 8-)
(Yeah I’m cool, lol)

Favs says the next film is gonna have more action ,,,
I sure hope they also have a great story arc and not just action-action-action… :-(
^
I also recently read an interview with Orci & Kurtsmen on Star Trek.
One thing that bothered me was that one of them said , “we want to get more Star Wars in Star Trek,,,”

What more Star Wars in Star Trek,,, “(What ????? -Vader voice) this could be a good thing, sigh,,,, take deep breth,,, this could suck !!!!!! “

I can’t imagine what they are talking about. If they mean more conflict or action why didn’t they just say that. Perhaps they are talking automation like robots or stranger looking aliens. In the movie “Ikarie” they talked about using robots although you only see an old antique. That movie was made in the early 60’s so I would think that TOS would have eventually picked up on that. I kinda wondered why they wouldn’t use semi autonomous robots for external repairs in TOS.

Well, if they mean it the way I hope they mean it, it would be a great thing. The reason why I was never much of a Trekky was because of the newer Star Trek with all of the hippy undertones. The whole “set phasers to stun” hippy BS was just so aggravating. They could have enemy ships in front of them threatening to attack them for no good reason, and the crew of the Federation ship would be like “well, we technically are superior in firepower and shields, we can blow them to pieces…. but let’s try talking to them instead…” Then when they do, the enemy would be like “ah ha, you are cowards” and they will start attacking them, only to be revealed that they have some secret way to do real damage to them… This happens in like every other episode of Star Trek, any of the newer series, Next Generation, Voyager, etc…

Of course, I’m at home going “just blow them up, holy crap, it’s not that hard!!” And mean while, the typical sparks are flying, and people pretend to get thrown around, and the “shields are down to 8%, we can’t take another direct hit.” I’m then saying, “see, should have blown them up when you had the chance morons…”

If it was more like Star Wars, they would have simply blew them all up and have been on their merry way…

I sure hopw you liked my generalization of Star Trek, but you can’t deny that this happens ALL THE TIME on the show…

Lol,Ken,,, Yeah that sums up Voyager,,, but then I loved that ship and Captain…

(Star Trek .11)
I don’t know, I’ve heard that there’s gonna be a Wrath of Kahn element to it…
Let’s just hope there’s no Transforming stuff going on. ;-(

Here’s something to discuss. How in the heck, that during the Terminator Salvation showing in Comic Con, there wasn’t a single video of it that leaked to the internet?? Seriously, not a single person made a cell phone video?? Come on… The closest one was a cell phone video where McNugget, I mean, McG goes “and here’s the clip” and then it cuts off… That was dumb…

I don’t know Ken, but I bet, good or bad T4 beats Star Trek down in its second week…

They should be almost done shooting that film.
I’m betting we hear more on the plot very soon.

@790
Within the context of that interview I believe Orci/Kurtman were referring to the epic quality of the way the space scenes were shot in the original Star Wars.

@Ken J
You’re describing ST:TNG/Picard not ST:TOS/Kirk. :-P

I’m a Kirk fan, not Jean-Luc “I rule by committee” Picard.

I would like to find some answers here hehe, i am an Elvis fan and i think the best answer i can find will be from here!

I would like to know if there’s any Elvis movie coming up, i mean a REAL Elvis Presley movie like a high quality movie.
I think there should be one, i’ve seen movies about the life of “Sugar Ray” or “Johny cash” but i haven’t heard anything about Elvis.

If there’s someone who knows i will appreciate the info!

Thanx

For me, I am actually glad that nothing has been leaked for Terminator, it heightens the intrigue. We as fans are exposed to so much of a movie before it EVER officially comes out to the point of movies being ruined because of it.

The more mystery lessens your expectations but excites your enthusiasm…in my opinion.

At First Showing they have a script review of the upcoming Green Lantern movie, what do you think? The write up is extremely positive and full of fan-boy excitement…are you as excited?

@ Wallace
The only information I could come up with is dated back in 2007 about an Elvis movie that would deal with his time in the Army. Here is the link to the story over at Cinematical.

Just read this morning that indeed New Line cinema is remaking “Escape From New York.” I guess Jonathan Mostow is writing the script. Will the remakes ever end?? :(

@Ken
If you want a captain to defend earth, you pick Kirk, he shoots first and asks questions later. If you want a captain to be a diplomat, you want whimpy Picard. ;-)

@790
The Dominion battle that ended ST:DS9, I felt, was very good; action packed with some Cardassian intrigue thrown in. Some of that stuff with Vic got boring though (the hologram Vic, not our Vic :-) ).

I read earlier today over on scifi that Shyamalan is reconsidering a sequel to ‘Unbreakable’

This is a movie I always thought deserved (or needed) a good sequel and is really the only Shyamalan movie that I truly like.

This news kind of excites me. I would love to see Willis return as ‘Security Man’ and Sammy J as ‘Mister Glass’

Am I alone?

Hey Vic, I heard some rumblings over the internet that there are allegations of “ticket fraud” for American Carol. Such as theaters selling the incorrect ticket to people who want to see that film to decrease it’s box office take, not putting up the posters, listing it with a R rating instead of PG-13, incorrect times on the marquis, or not having it on the marquis at all, etc. etc… Do you think it is worth researching and writing about?

On their site, supposedly it had a message regarding this that read:

“Please check your ticket. If you were in fact one of those people that were “mistakenly” sold a ticket for another movie please fill out the form below. Hold on to your ticket so we can have proof.”

But it has since been taken down.

What do you think?

As long as there will be decent footage of War Machine in Iron man two I will be satisfied.

Um is there any news about the Friday the 13th remake?? I also heard there was supposed to be a remake of A Nightmare on Elm street.

We need more writers. :-0

Hey, I just saw an interesting headline in filmonic, they quoted Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby regarding Hulk’s future. The comment expressed something I felt regarding TDK:

“I hope ‘The Avengers’ embraces that,” Fergus said of having the Hulk as misunderstood baddie. “You don’t want like 10 super-badass good guys fighting together. Where’s the fun in that? Let’s break it off a little. Friends or colleagues who become enemies is always an interesting thing because you know it’s based on love and friendship and that’s always the worst thing to have turn bad — is someone you actually care about and someone you actually believe in.”

That’s the exact point I was making before when it turns out in TDK, Harvey Dent and Bruce Wayne will not be friends before the setting of the movie like they were in the animated series. I thought it would have been a much more interesting dynamic if Batman’s villain is actually also his best friend, the same sentiment Fergus expressed in that comment about Hulk being a villain since he’s also a “good guy.” What do you guys think about this? Both the concept extending to TDK and just the mere fact that The Hulk might end up being the villain for The Avengers.

My only concern Is
I dont want the new armor and and too many villains to overwhelm the character aspects of the film
I reserve judgement until I see the film ,But i just hope we keep the villains to a minimum.

Gary, yeah… I need to write up a review for Body of Lies and I hope to see City of Ember this weekend.

Honestly, review writing is one of my least favorite things to do - but do it I must. :-)

Hint, Body of Lies was very, very good.
