  1. Okay, just saw Paranormal Activity tonight and I’ve got to say I was a little disappointed at the end. Over all I like the movie, but damn! No credits/nothing?? I usually watch the credits…it was a little strange.

  2. i watched the new stargate episode and i was very impressed. in my opinion it was the best episode so far.
in other news i was watching the screem awards, and when toby miguare(spiderman) was walking down the stares when he was introdused i thought maybe i dont hate him anymore. but when he started talking i was like oh ya i hate that guy so much.
i never seen twighlight, because it looked so dumb but when they where showing off new moon i thought hey i might watch this.

  3. Isn’t this weeks poll a little flawed? Genetic mutation may be forced through technology or not.
So one has to assume that the vote for genetic mutation is natural when perhaps you might fall into the category of favoring unnatural genetic mutation. While technology may be used for monstrous purposes, does is become so in the hands of humans and Aliens or are we talking all natural only?

  4. @the old man

When I made technology a selection I meant robots/computers/AI and that sort of thing.

On another note, The Fourth Kind was pretty damned freaky. I think it delivers the creeps better than Paranormal Activity. Very interesting and well done.

  5. Heroes is NOT predictable this season. There was no vision, time travel, or comic book painting of citywide destruction. I don’t like the fact that Sylar is EVERYWHERE. We can go a couple episodes without any of the other characters. Come on guys, overkill!

  6. I’m concerned that Monday from 7-8 pm on NBC I see a lesbian kiss, along with what looks to be an arc-long exploration of Claire’s sexual preferences. Then 8-9 pm on TRAUMA, the major storyline focuses on a paramedic’s apparent homophobia, in the setting of a cross-dresser Halloween carnival.

The paramedic’s ambulance partner turns out to be gay. Talk about drama queens–I believe a scene with the two partners facing one another, wordless, with dramatic music playing–lasted for almost a minute.

The Shield, Season 1, had a side story about a cop with a sexuality conflict. It was engaging and interesting and veered into a VERY politically incorrect direction. (I’m sure the writers made no friends over that.) I felt like Julian’s story was just that–his STORY, not a preachy Message Of Enlightenment. TRAUMA is based in San Francisco, so it’s natural that they have gay characters. I get it. But hope on either of these shows that it’s not “in my face” every week.

  7. Well for the first time ever i was told to sit down and shut up in the theater(there’s a first for all of us)… i sat down but i kept singing. I would rate it 4 out of 5 because it was only rehearsal footage so he wasn’t really giving it his all. Either way i liked it and i’m pretty sure fans will as well… “This is it”.

  8. I thought genetic mutations regularly occur without the aide of technology… I mean, I’m not a genetics expert, so please correct me if I’m wrong…

  9. I’m the projectionist, so I was DANCING upstairs while watching “This is It” I loved it !!! (Better than “Fame” cuz it’s real!) As a no-talent Thespian, I love behind-the-scenes footage & how things were done. I loved the making of the movie footage w/ the Zombies & the 40s gangster movies. All singers, dancers, musicians should watch this & see how Kenny Ortega does things!!!
“That’s why we have rehersal” — MJ

  10. “This is it,” would be a quief in the cinematic breeze if Jackson was alive.

    Says something about our culture,,,

  11. @790
If he were still alive this movie wouldn’t have been made… or so i think. I think this would just be extras for the actual concert movie which i would have seen. I understand you and several others don’t like him and all… that’s cool but at least we(the fans) got to see what could’ve been instead of what never was.

    @~Nancy~

Kinda jealous now… you got to dance.

  12. @790 and all
i just saw 2 threads get shut down for personal wars and whatnot. Just wanted to say i have nothing against people that don’t like mj or anything just saying i was glad to see the footage. Hopefully this doesn’t get ugly.

  13. Jago, my point was, how we (as a society) idolize music entertainers more when there dead… Elvis, Hendrix, Lennon…

I think its also ironic that AIG the mega corp that ultimately caused the pressure that led to MJ’s death will reap the profits on this movie…

  14. @790
Yes i know… i’ve mentioned that several times before like with heath, elvis, etc… but the end part of both my comments were mainly just in case somebody were to jump out and try to start some sort of argument.

In the Movie “World’s Greatest Dad” (which i’ve mentioned before) they explore that whole “people idolize the dead” in a dark comedy sort of way.

  15. … kay…

Let’s call it “a cinematic adventure into Kenny Ortega’s directorial genius with a big budget musical stage production.” And leave MJ completely out of the picture :-P Would that work better? It’s STILL a helluva show.

no disrespect to the King of Pop.

And I also agree with you – humans have a morbid streak that goes on forever. Elvis is still one of the top grossing entertainers in the country….

  16. @vic
couple of questions… whats with this wordpress thing and something about ads that pops up everynow and then? it leads me to other sites and stuff and then i can’t get back on to this site for a while.

  17. @vic
i was thinking of a topic for a thread you could use… Headline would be a genre of a movie and inside would be one of your writers giving what can be an original idea for that type of genre and in the comments section they could do that aswell or comment on what the writer wrote. Downside to it is that somebody might steal the idea… Upside is that it won’t be hollywood since they like sure things instead of “original”.

  18. I’m a little annoyed that 4 of my favourite shows are one hiatus this week (How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, House and Glee). And I’m pretty sure I won’t get another House until the week after next either.

During a week where I’m feeling pretty damn run down (stupid bug going around), I kinda needed my weekly TV fix.

  19. I guess MJ will now join Elvis and Tupac as the hardest working dead guys in the business.

  20. Im really glued to Flash Forward….I hope it doesnt get stale. Someone did a comparison to Lost saying they used all the extras from Lost lol. But I think John Cho and the fiennes brother lol.(I cant tell which is which, Its like the baldwin bros all over again) But Im curious to see how it all plays out.

  21. @jago

Are you talking about the double underlined text link ads? If you mouse over one of those just don’t click on it. I changed the style from blue single underlined to what it is now to make it more obvious they’re not regular SR links. As to your article idea, we sort of do that with our fantasy casting posts. :)

    Vic

  22. @790 thank you i needed that laugh.

  23. all right guys,

I got a general discussion question. What the heck is up the “Highlander” reboot?

I have said it before, I am a fan. So I am seeing it whenever it comes out. But it seems to be slower to develop than other movies. I know they just got a direct (Justin Lin – Fast and Furious). Just trying to put my finger on the Highlander pulse.

Does the idea of a Highlander remake have you excited? Apathetic? Horrified? Angry?

Also, any Highlander fans have any casting ideas?

  24. I think the highlander reboot was put on hold but I could be wrong Evan.

This poll drives me nuts. Can’t stand seeing vampires at the top. All this twilight crap has totally turned me off to vampires.

  25. M Cat, have you been out to a Barnes & Noble lately?
I had some time to kill yesterday so I walked down to the local B&N. Apart from the book store being practically empty (another topic) there were vampire books and spin off novels everywhere I looked. Making of Twilight, the romance of Twilight, the blah blah blah of Twilight,,,, on and on it went,,,,
Also in my face everywhere were the Twilight book series. They have all been republished so that the cover art looks like the characters from the film, and there’s gotta be 30 different magazines all related to Twilight and vampire stuff…

I’ve never seen such a completely stupid genre (vampire teen angst)have such a huge impact on todays youth…
Its like crack or heroin to some of these losers…
And I’m sorry but losers is the correct term (IMO). As I’m not directing that comment at an individual rather a group of people…
At this point I don’t care what Twilight fans think of me or my opinion.
Keep that in mind if your about to comment on this…
I won’t use hate speech but don’t get offended reading between the lines. Cause I don’t care anymore about twilight fans…

  26. Oh and if anyone is interested I suggest searching google for “The Cup of Tears”. Great new trailer out for this wicked looking samurai sci-fi movie.

  27. 790

you don’t care what Twilight fans think? Well, I can’t stand Twilight fans. Bash me for being a jerk all you want but the movie is Melrose Place or 90210 with vampires lol.

  28. @Ken J

I heard recently on a science podcast that each of us averages about a hundred unique mutations on the genetic level throughout our lifespans. So yes, mutations are commonplace.

    @others

For some anti-twilight fun check out (assuming links are OK, Vic?) http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1921792 Just, uh… turn down the volume, it can get annoying.

  29. @790…

I hear you and I do understand where you’re coming from on this issue, so trust me … I’m not offended in the slightest by what you posted.

This whole Twilight phenomenon is getting on my nerves, primarily because so many kids (including a couple of my ‘tween-aged nieces) are spending money on everything connected with Twilight — from books to CD’s to dolls — like it’s going out of style, and it’s all they want to talk about.

Seems like Twilight is everywhere, and after a while, the excessive saturation of the teen-angst vampire genre becomes tiresome because of the cookie-cutter books which have sprung from the success of Twilight (The Vampire Diaries, for instance), with different versions of those angsty teen vamps floating around.

Even though I still like the vampire genre, I’ll be so glad when Twilight finally runs its course, and we can get a break from angsty teen vampires. I’m not hatin’… just being honest. :)
