It’s Wednesday so it’s time for our weekly open discussion post. Talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself.
Side note: So… how are you guys liking the new avatars? I think they’re a lot of fun and add personality to the comments.
Around the web:

The series finale for The Shield was just great. I thought it was a pretty perfect way to end the series.
Mike, I was going to make about the same observation.
Spoilers
My favorite characters, Claudette & Dutch, stayed true. I loved it when she told him “what he could do” and I really liked that she got in the interrogation room. However, maybe I missed something but it seems the case with the teen just jumped so far in the story. The many calls from Mom’s phone were obviously from the kid, but Dutch (and Mom) did not draw that conclusion on her doorstep.
But…did Claudette go a bit sadistic, arresting Ronnie for dramatic effect? And, can we be sure with Dutch & the kid, who was trying to “frame” who, considering that Dutch once strangled a kitten while looking in its eyes, in order to identify with psychopath killers?
I’m sure every reviewer will say this, what harsher sentence could Vic serve?
I’m sorry that the ensemble nature of the show gave way to the superstar visits and closeups on the main players. I really liked Danny and Julian.
Interesting that Julian’s storyline actually involved an apparent serious treatment of an “ex gay” journey. My impression, though, is that this aspect of the character was dropped like a hot potato, until the passing visual reference to it tonight.
One thing I’ll say, I always thought Ronnie was a “filler” character. Even to the last, when his grieving and rage could have given a lasting definition, I never felt *anything* from him as a character.
On the other hand, Shane’s character, especially when blubbering, has had me “convinced” time and time again.
Did anyone else think that they were going to have Shane’s wife have a miscarriage right on the screen, at an obvious point in the story?
HEROES
Is it any mystery that as soon as the eclipse is over, the powers come back? This is the longest lead-up to a predictable event, and the longest eclipse ever. I hope they don’t treat solar eclipses like they do the end of the world scenes–and have one every year.
Why did Daphne run home, since the prospect of going home was given as a threat by Mr. Petrelli. And what ever happened to Linderman? Also what about the black guy who has appeared in time travel/dream scenes with Peter–will he show up again?
@jc
He never threatend to send her home. He said he would return her to the condition in which he found her.Which makes more sense now. He was responsible for giving her those powers in the first place and we all know he could have taken them away and returned her to those braces and crutches permanently.
Just finished watching this week’s Heroes episode.
Characters, their actions and motivations are still as convoluted and nonsensical as always.
So powers come from evolution…nope. They came from a formula…oh no no, you can eat pastes and that gives you power… nope its the eclipse! Awesome! FAIL
This show needs a reboot.
We dont know how they get powers, pay attention. Those are just theories that the characters themselves have. Oh and im loving the Gravatars : )
im really glad I dont keep up with heros because it would just cause way too much frustration for myself lol!
I like the gravatars but one question… do you have to upload them evertime you post a comment?
Did you guys check out the updated Star Trek trailer over at FirstShowing.net? There is a little tidbit added to the end of the recent trailer!!
In regards to heroes, the prosepect of Peter getting his ability back really excites me, as i found him an useless charactor this season along woth Parkman (though i belived him to be useless since the begining). I think season has been very hit or miss, with no middle ground. Either i found episodes intriguing and exciting or an utter waste of an hour.
Now i want find out what everyone is thinking about Terminator:TSCC. I find that there is a diminish in quality in the story and in the episodes themselves. Its to the point where its frustring to watch the second season after such a terrific first season. I find that the charactors are just aimlessly wondering around, and the change in Summer Glau’s Charactor really pisses me off, she went from this really cool, kick a$$ terminator, to Sarah Conors Lacky ( ithink i spelled that correctly), and other than that, does not serve an real purpose. Brian Ausin Green’s charactor, Derrick, started out with such promise, only to end up sucking and suffering this “what about me” syndrome. I was glad when they finally killed Cromartie, I rejoiced, i even sang a little, and then they go and bring him back into the picture WTF? Introduce a differnt Terminator, holy crap people. And Finally, at first i was excited about Shirley Manson being and addition to the show, having been a fan of heres since the alcohol infused years of High school. But however, like the rest of the show, i am met with dissapointment, I really really really, wanted to see her kick some Butt, but all she has done is exp[lain things we already know, and sit behind her desk instructing Ellison. I wont even go into the acting. All in all, i am counting the days until Fox pulls the plug and i can buy it on DVD.
Does anyone else feel the same way?? Any thoughts??
Manhattan Bio up on official site…..
@Oscar
Loving the Gravatar
I have a Heroes question.Why didn’t Mr. Petrelli just take Hiro’s time traveling ability’s,instead of just altering his mind causing him to be a 10 year old?
I haven’t checked out Sarah Connor Chronicles at all this season. Weird, because I really enjoyed last season, but I have had no interest in watching it this season. Hmmmm, sounds like I’m not missing much.
@cleantalking chimp
My theory on that, is that while Arthur was taking his power, he was interupted by Ando, thus disrupting the process of taking his pwoer, reverting Hiro to his 10 year old self.
Just a theory, anyway, I don’t think it was Arthurs intention to turn him into a 10 year old.
I guess it’s time for me to set up an avatar! I need to watch this week’s Heroes. I don’t think it’s going bad this season, despite some plot holes and weird “maneuvering” of characters that doesn’t make sense to who they are, but to the plot of the story.

@huntthejest
LoL i know, i saw that. Soooo many Cap pics, but thats the most badass one : )
@cleantalkingchimp & Metallicat79
I read it was cuz he was using a power similar to the haitians power. He was erasing a little part of his memory but got distracted by the painting of the eclipse so he went a bit little to far lol. Who knows, if he didnt get distracted and Ando didnt stop him he could have/would have taken his power also.
@Oscar
Come to think of it, that would make sense
lol i hope it makes sense : ) it came straight from one of the writers. Here’s the quote: “It was not Arthur’s intent to turn Hiro into a 10-year-old. Arthur was in the process of using the Haitian’s ability to mind-wipe all the things Hiro learned from his spirit walk in the “Villains” episode. But yes, he got distracted by that eclipse. Who knows what else he might have done Hiro and Ando didn’t get out when they did.”
@Lawrence
Thanks for the update on the Watchmen site.
@Metallicat79
Yeah, I thought this season got off to a great start but it does seem to be wandering a bit lately. And Ellison digging up Cromartie seemed REALLY dumb to me.

Did anyone notice that the image they showed us when the Star Trek movie site launched earlier this year featured a different from what they’ve shown in the trailer…
From this:

To this:

I just remember reading an article somewhere that they were heavily influenced by the look of the Enterprise (Tv show) bridge and were doing some sort of hybrid update between that and ST:TOS bridge.
I wonder why they changed the look?
@Ash Ali
Those could very well BOTH be corriders on the Enterprise. I’ve read that different levels of the ship have completely different looks – with things getting more “industrial” as you go deeper into the engineering sections.
Vic
I agree about Terminator,
the Terminators don’t feel at all like the Terminator units from the first two films.
Yah, this season of SCC is pretty dumb. Everyone seems to be making a whole lot of dumb decisions.
And I don’t know about you guys, but if I was in John’s position, I would tell Cameron that terminators are not allowed to wear clothes in my house…
Oh, and Andy, thanks for pointing out the web trailer for Star Trek. I wasn’t really a fan of the old Star Trek, or any of them really, but I am familiar with it, and it was kind of cool to see that he’ll have a part in the film. Kind of like seeing the original Hulk in the Incredible Hulk movie. That was hilarious, he was the security guard. Now I was a fan of the tv show, I used to watch the reruns of it on Sci-Fi channel all the time, lol. I’m not old enough to have seen it back when it was new. I think it ran before or after Six Million Dollar Man, so I usually watched both of them.
Okayyyyyy-
Seeing as our fine host Mr. H has invited us to freely post as we will this fine week, I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the holiday by sharing a few thoughts about why there are plenty of reasons, even in these turbulent times, to be truly thankful…
In no particular order, yours truly is thankful for:
The small miracles that occur daily, and eventually form the life I am so grateful to have.
The sense of sight, that something might catch my eye and draw a tear of wonder.
The arm around my shoulder that always seems to show up when I really need it.
That someone once told me that stars are simply holes on the floor of heaven.
The stranger who makes me smile, because they smiled first.
The glory of music, the truly universal language.
The opportunity to express, create, and share my thoughts, and to hear those of others.
And for friends, family, and loved ones, without whom I would be lost.
Thank you ScreenRant, for being one of the good things in my silly little life.
Here’s wishing all a happy and joyous holiday season-
A prosperous New Year-
And serenity always.
@Ken J
I think the thing that is really making mad this season is the charactor devlopment for each charactor (John is excluded, as we are actually seeing John Conor take shape into the future Military Leader).
And i would tell Cameron the same thing, but no clothes anywhere. She must be naked all the time.
Well said Nowhereman
Happy Thanksgiving everyone here. From all the writers here to the fans who leave all the great comments, have a happy holiday.
There really has been a lot to be thankful for this past year, especially in the theater. The movie I’m most thankful for has been “The Dark Knight.”
Enjoy today everyone!
Happy ThanksGiving Everybody!
I am Thankful for spending this day with my family.
Movie wise,
I am thankful for the Resurgence and Dominace of Superheroes at the Box Office
and the pending return of TREK!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you as well and thanks for being a part of our Screen Rant “family.”
