Open Discussion – November 25, 2009

Nov 25, 2009 by

vic-screenrant-thanksgivingIt’s Wednesday again, time for our regularly scheduled open discussion post (Thanksgiving Edition). On a side note, I apologize for all the website issues we’ve been having over the past few weeks, but you may have noticed that now the site is loading MUCH faster. We’ve moved to a new web hosting company and we’ve upgraded our server big time, so things should run much more smoothly (and faster) now.

As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself – just remember to play nice. :)

  1. @790

I aware of how corrupt and flawed the justice system is.

  2. Here are the things I’m thankful for this year…

I made it through a minor health scare and I’m feeling just fine.

Star Trek — I was rather skeptical whether J.J. Abrams could breathe new life into the classic franchise, but he did, and the results are amazing (I got the DVD earlier this week, gonna watch it again over the weekend).

ScreenRant — where I get my movie news without the sugar coating, and the message boards always give me something new to think about.

I’m also thankful for … Up, Zombieland, James Cameron, 24, House, Thor, Iron Man 2, family & friends and … all of the cool people who post here.

    Have a great weekend! :)

  3. Anyone else not receiving subscription emails?

Also, if you’re on Twitter, you can behold my most excellent Christmas avatar here:

  4. I am thankful that the Cowboys won.
I am thankful that the comicbook movies are making soo much money.
I am thankful that 790 and Ken J are not arguing 8-) .

I am thankful I am not a weakling humaan!!

    Who cares. :-D

  5. For anyone who cares, I just read some remarks by Tobey Maguire on MTV about the villains in Spiderman 4 and it was pretty interesting.

Tobey was presented him with three fan-selected choices: The Lizard, Carnage and Mysterio.

“I’m more familiar with Lizard and Mysterio, and I don’t know — I like them as villains,” said Maguire. “I think they’re great, and Lizard obviously has a very personal relationship with Peter Parker, so we often will go towards that kind of stuff.”

So it seems that nobody is hiding the fact that it’s time for The Lizard to appear in the franchise. And Bruce Campbell has already been rumored to play Mysterio, or at least set up the character for future installments. But will we ever see Carnage on the big screen?

“I’m not that familiar with Carnage, I’m aware of Carnage,” Maguire added. “I know that Sam [Raimi] is a fan of the early Spider-Man comics and Carnage comes much later.”

Raimi previously revealed that he knows very little about Carnage and now that Maguire said that the director is only a fan of the old comics, it is likely that we will never see the character. Unless Sony forces Raimi to put him in, and then we’ll get another mess like Venom.

  6. I thought SherlockHolmes was coming out December 18th.
I just saw an ad that said it comes out Christmas Day.
    When did it get moved?

  7. No one watches Sons of Anarcy? I don’t recall seeing this show in the TV section, its pretty awesome I must say.

  8. @Gary …

Apparently the Dec. 25th release date was the original release date for Sherlock Holmes.

If it had been scheduled for Dec. 18th, it would go head-to-head with Avatar, and due to the massive level of hype surrounding Avatar (which is even bigger than New Moon), it would run over any movie which had the misfortune to open on the same date.

By Christmas weekend, Warner Bros. is hoping the Avatar hype machine will have cooled enough to give Sherlock Holmes a chance at the box office.

Personally… I’ll wait for both of them to make their DVD debuts. :)
