Not to hijack the thread, but since most of you who comment here are regular readers, I have a question:
Would you be interested in a comment system that was threaded (indicates more clearly who is replying to whom), the ability to have avatars and “scoring” (thumbs up, thumbs down) of comments? Let me know!

Hey, is there a way we could get slightly larger avatars? And what about ones that move?

Bigger avatars in place (looks better, thanks for the suggestion). I searched around and didn’t find much on concerns with using gravatars.
As far as the gravatars updating, I believe in can take a few minutes, plus the caching we use on the site might make it take a while to show up.

I’m relatively new to this site. I just discovered it through Fandango…I came here to see the latest HP HBP trailer. But I digress…since I’ve been here I’ve enjoyed the site and also receiving the daily newsletters.
I was one of the many who did go see the Quantum of Solace and thought it was a great movie. Course they had the omage to Goldfinger in there and then of course close to the end they did something like the Bourne Supremacy. I don’t know or believe that this new Bond series is trying to be like the Bourne movies. The camera work is similar but not the same. The action was definitely there and very enjoyable. I remember when Casino Royale came out it was said that it was mostly going to be back to basics for Bond. Each new Bond brings something different to the screen and also the way the movies are done. I look forward to more in the future.
Vic, your site is one of the more pure movie sites out there. No bling, no blang, just good ole’ fashioned movie news. Migrating to a more complex comment system, I think, would take away the classic feel your site has.
Either way, I’ll still be a regular and support whatever you do.

So, apparently I am the only fool that has no idea why his avatar wont work
It shows it on Gravatar, then when I click on it to select it for this e-mail address, it only shows a little X instead of the picture. Kind of odd.

AFAIK you log into gravatar.com using the same email you use for your “INK” commenting here.

I’m afraid I don’t know what the issue is with your gravatar. When I look at your comment from the admin side, I can see that you have a custom avatar. Why it’s not showing up on the live site I couldn’t tell you.
One idea… could you try replacing the .png image with a .jpg?

I figured out my problem and am wondering if it is yours, as well. When I uploaded my graphic I picked it to be a “PG” graphic and I am guessing this is a “G” site so it was defaulting to the SR avatar. I re-uploaded my image selected “G” rating and Ta-daa!

Thanks for pointing that out. I just upped the gravatar level on the site to “PG.” However I still don’t see Doom’s avatar showing up. I think he needs to try using a jpeg file. That’s the format for all that are showing, and I don’t know what here on the site might not be allowing .png files to display.

I am all for an extended and updated version of the comments section. I think it would be a positive change and make things more fun.
In regards to movie news, we are getting deluged with Marvel news: Captain American, Thor, X-Men Origins: Magneto, X-Men: First Class and so on. The only news we are hearing from WB?DC involes negative news, Jonah Hex losing its writers.
That being said, going into the Thanksgiving Holiday is a prime area to release news as studio executives all disperse for a week or so, and it gives the fans time to discuss. Is WB/DC holding out to finally make the slate announcement they promised months ago before Thanksgiving, if not then Christmas? Or…are they still debating where the heck they are going with these projects?
Honestly, the only thing WB/DC has going on right now that I am excited for is Supermax. Although the name is bad, the Green Arrow flick to be has me pumped. Green lantern has my curiosity piqued, but not much more than that until I hear a definite that its going to be Hal and not Jon. I know people have rumored that, but I want it in writing from WB before I get excited. The rest is all just…….eh, whatever.
With tat being said, if they drop a bombshell about a JLA movie staring Christian Bale and Brandon Routh then I will be super excited, I just know it aint gonna happen.

I’m so sick of movie and tv story lines dealing with high school situations like who’s the hot new kid or the girl with the vampire boyfriend… (WGAF)
And another thing, the stupid animated dog “Bolt” looks like he’s on Crystal meth !!!

It was apparently the Jpeg thing and then after that it was that the e-mail address recognition is case sensitive so I had to change that here.
I like the site the way it is Vic. The only thing that I might like to see is maybe on the main page next to the # of comments you can post the name who posted last so we know if there are new posts on some of the longer threads.
Any way you do it, I will still be stopping by almost daily. Actually, this site and Yahoo movies are the only 2 movie sites I read.
Oh, and did EVERYONE see the plot twist coming at the end of Chuck this past Monday??? It was more obvious than Flamestrike’s dislike for the new Trek. LOL.

I saw Chuck monday and yes, it was bloody obvious what was coming. That’s why I like the show so much, they put some thought into it but not a lot to make the viewer feel dumb if they miss something. It’s a silly little escape… I look forward to it more than heroes now.
The 3 last doctors
Now that David Tennant is quitting as Doctor who, what better way to conclude than the tre last doctors? in the past we have the 3 doctors, than the 5 doctors.
Now I say we bring back Christopher Eccleston and the 8th doctor from the tv movie – Paul McGann, and have us a good old tripple doctor special- Tennant allready bumpt into the fifth doctor in the charity special “Time Crash”, a special episode written by Steven Moffat for Children in Need. So why not make the fans happy, the more doctors the merrier…
