  1. That’s the “guy”!
    I think he’s a guy?
Hard to tell from color tones and bat nips,,, ;-)

    ^
Couple of Directors I’m defiantly looking forward to seeing more of their work,,,
    Duncan Jones: (Moon)
    And Neil Blomkamp (District 9)

Joel S, Mcg and Ewe Boll can quit the biz as far as I’m concerned. Grh!

  2. @Zipper, that kinda sorta has to happen with Brock out of the picture, you gots to make do with the leftovers. Liked the angst of Henchman 21′s trials without his buddy 24. Although I have to say that the revenge of the Phantom Limb was inspired (loved his use of Dr. The Monarch’s Girlfriends stilletto) and while I agree that the first episode felt like a cubist painting with a side of Dali, the ones that followed are doing their best to pick up the pieces of the carnage of the end of season 3.

  3. Hey

Just finished my Complete Galactica series Blu-ray set and now I’m depressed because I have nothing to fill the void. I could watch Babylon 5 again but I already did so a couple months back, and I’m a bit Lost-ed out. So you dorks, what can I watch to get my genre fill and satisfy my short attention span syndrome? I had thought about giving Stargate Universe a whirl as it is on Demand. Anyone watch it? Is it garbage? Help me out here!!

  4. Lord Garth, did you also watch BSG the Plan?

Anyway check out the sci fi show, “LEXX” I think you’ll totally dig it, its a 4 season set

  5. Also, Farscape and the new Doctor Who also rock!

  6. ditto on Farscape…would have to imagine that you’ve already been Firefly’ied as well. If you’re feeling retro, maybe Avengers ’66 would do. ;-)

  7. Do you guys plan to cover the Cowboy Beebot movie ?

  8. RE: Criminal Minds – open thread

As a fan of the series since the beginning, I appreciate the respect the producers/writers show to the guest stars of earlier episodes. It’s a nice touch to see former characters resurface in new cases. This show always seems to be top notch in the actors they choose for guest stars and having them return for more than one tale makes the canon of the series more interesting in my opinion.

  9. You know, I’m perfectly happy seeing directors who only work within one or two genres branch out and try new things, could be they spend their time directing crappy rom-coms and then one day, try a sci-fi and find they have a knack for it, you never know. Same thing with actors as well, I love seeing actors break out of their niche and do something completely different from what they usually do.

Yup I was all over the plan, liked it quite a bit.

Farscape, hmmm I had always wanted to give it a whirl.

  11. LEXX is better and has hotter space babes but that’s cool…
They just re released Farscape in a complete series set on dvd, came out this Tuesday.

  12. Farscape is one of the best Sci-Fi shows around! Shame they cancelled it and kept on CrapGate-SG1

  13. Really? I just thought it was some really hokey cheesy sci-fi show that even the cast members from the show chose to poke fun at in an episode of Stargate… Oops, I meant Crapgate that lasted 10 years…

  14. IM2 trailer in front of Sherlock Holmes this Christmas! Woot!

  15. I dunno Ken, Stargate started on Showtime for it’s first five and was then moved over to SciFi because the money was right. Farscape was originated out of Australia and had quite a bit more effects to account for with the puppet characters and the huge amount of time that went into the alien crafting and design. SciFi felt that Farscape was too expensive to continue to produce and it got the axe despite the fandom outcry. One got supported by the network because it was being filmed in British Columbia where the price was right and the effects had already been developed thanks to the feature film that they could draw from. Each had their own way and while they were in the same genre, that’s about where the similarities end. Other than refugees from the farscape series finding homes latter in the SG francise, hell the same path was followed by Firefly cast member(the lovely Ms. Jewel Staite).

  16. From my source Piratedan, ultimately Farscape was cancelled because of the season 4 references to 9-11.

There was upper US network pressure to cancel the show it had nothing to do with budgets, more to do with falling in line,,,

(My source is 99% reliable on this)

  17. @pirate

Actually, the stargate effects were actually redone by the makers of SG1. They fired a jet engine into a body of water to get that burst effect…

And there was actually another Firefly actor who played a major role in SG-1 for a few seasons. Morena Baccarin played the Ori messiah for like 2 seasons…

  18. 790, I doubt the claims of your could be substantively proven.
but we know that SciFi was budget strapped at that time.
Effects for Farscape couldnt have been cheap.

  19. 790 , Was the network falling out of line when they produced the miniseries ?

  20. Yes true Gary, it was a mainly blamed on budgets. Its been so long I prob shouldn’t have mentioned this as I have forgotten the exact reason and scene or scenes, however the 9-11 reference in S4 did have an negative effects back in the states. And that was ultimately why Stargate was renewed and Farscape wasn’t.
    ^
The Peacekeeper War, miniseries was privately funded by investor fans of the show and produced in Australia by Hallmark Entertainment.

Sci-Fi channel later agreed to distributed the miniseries after the huge success of the Save Farscape campaign…
