  1. Anyone here seen Skyfall yet?

    • Yeah twice, it’s awesome!

    • Yeah, I saw the sky fall yesterday. Oh wait, you were talking about a movie, not the election! Sorry. :-)

  2. Since it was a topic on TV all night: Congratulations to Obama!

    • Obama For The WIN!

    • Really ???? 4 more years? Ok

    • Yea, sure…16 trillion in debt, close to 8 percent unemployment, the Fast and Furious scandal, the Lybian scandal, Iran close to a nuclear bomb, a whispered promise to the Russians to be “more flexible” with them after the election, healthcare costs set to rise under Obamacare, and a nation divided due to constantly blaming and scapegoating others…

really looking forward to the next four years.

      • HUGE LIKE!!!! :)

      • …and I forgot about more people in poverty and on food stamps than ever before…

  3. Can’t believe Obama won last night. Such a bummer. I really thought Romney had a real shot at a victory. He worked so hard. Wish last night turned out differently but it was a close race. Just Obama doesn’t deserve it.

    Just a opinion.

    • “thought Romney had a real shot at a victory.”-never had a chance.
“He worked so hard.”- spent a lot(though not to him) money.
“it was a close race.”- maybe in popular votes but in ones that matter…
      “Obama doesn’t deserve it.”-awww…adorable opinions.

      • I think it’s best we do NOT bring politics into the open discussion.

        • True. That’s exactly why I only congratulated the winner without saying anything about the other guy, even though I could say plenty. I didn’t intend to launch a political debate that goes in circles and amounts to nothing. We had plenty of those during the campaign, didn’t we? ;)

I thinks it’s okay to express congratulations or disappointment around here, but attacking the other viewpoint for whatever reason should stay off this site. Agreed, guys?

        • I agree. I can already tell by the comments above that some people don’t respect the opinion of others. This could get ugly.

        • Agree, but I’m so glad the campaigns are over. I’d think most feel similarly.

        • Agree, there are plenty of places on the web for that sort of thing.

      • Cody no need for your sarcasm. Just respect the opinions of others. I dont care what you think of my opinion. That’s why it’s a opinion. We’re all entitled to it and there’s no need to get ugly and throw remarks on a fun site like this.

        • If you dont want something commented on, then dont put it in the comments….
and I wasnt being sarcastic, its just like my opinion man… we’re all entitled to it despite what others think (as you said yourself).

          • Well to each his own. You have your I have mine. Lets talk bout films or something.

          • Keep in mind, Cody, that “TheLostWinchester” started this by congratulating Obama, a politician not liked by nearly half the nation, on a movie website…

            • Yes. I congratulated a man who experienced a victory on TV, in a TV themed forum without bringing any political topics into the mix. That’s what Cody and you brought in here, despite my plea not to. So don’t blame me, thank you very much.

Btw: If he isn’t liked be nearly half the nation, then it means in turn that he is liked by more than half the nation and of course also that more than half the nation doesn’t like Romney. You shouldn’t argument like that. ;)

              • Your rationalization for mentioning him is a s-t-r-e-t-c-h. The guy is a politician, not an actor…although he reads a teleprompter well. I am aware that both candidates are not liked by nearly half the nation, but Obama is the one who has been in power for the last four years, so those who dislike him do so with cause, whereas those who dislike Romney only do so because of what they “think” they know about him, due to the picture painted of him by the left.

            • Why do you assume Im for Obama? Im actually very apolitical, didnt vote and didnt care who won but thelostwinchester said obama winning was a “bummer” and “didnt deserve it”, thats hardly a compliment. And campaigning for a year and throwing money around isnt hard work no matter which politician you are and 300 to 200 electoral votes isnt a close race. Then he tries to write all that off as just an opinion when I comment my opinion that hes wrong and whines “you have to respect my opinions cause everyone has their own”, which is true but doesnt mean they are correct.
I am objective and objectively, he was wrong.

              • Cody, your original comment was not in response to “TheLostWinchester”, who began this thread by congratulating Obama, a politician, on a movie website, but rather “The Mighty Avenger”, who indicated that Obama’s win was a “bummer”. You were critical of the latter, but not the former. You may claim that you are not an Obama supporter, but your comments betray you.

                • you are correct that i used the wrong name in reference, but with names like these its easy to lose track(they arent even names really) and I do not support obama or any candidate but I love to bash one sided bashers whether they are for the left and bashing the right or the right and bashing the left. I cant stand either especially when they give such shallow reasons.

                  • Shallow reasons? I’d ask you to reference my list of reasons above…16 trillion dollars in debt, close to 8 percent unemployment, more people in poverty and on food stamps than ever before, the Fast and Furious scandal, the Lybian scandal, Iran close to a nuclear bomb, a whispered promise to the Russians to be “more flexible” with them after the election, healthcare costs set to rise under Obamacare, and a nation divided due to constantly blaming and scapegoating others…although some other critics of Obama here may not have necessarily cited these reasons, believe me, they are on their minds, and they are far from “shallow”.

      • Iran can now relax and finally get that nuke they wanted!

        • Sorry, your right, keep politics off this site

      • Yea, Cody, “adorable” opinions, including yours…

        • Well I am adorable.

    • “The mighty avenger”…nearly half of us agree with you. My guess would be that, after another four years, the percentage on our side will rise significantly.

      • Well theres always hope.

    • By the way, Mighy Avenger, I attribute the loss to two factors…the increasing dependency of the populace on government and the left-leaning propaganda of the mainstream media. I am convinced that, if all the failings and short-comings of this administration happened similarly under a Republican administration, the mainstream media would be airing headlines and demanding investigations day after day. Those who blindly support this president also would not likely be supporting that president.

      • Jeff I agree with absolutely everything you said and am sure that all republicans feel the same way.

        • I bet you do sheep.

          • “Sheep”?! Your words betray you again, Cody. The only “sheep” out there are those who blindly supported Obama, despite all of the failings of his administration. These same people would have never voted for a Republican with a similar record.

      • wow, just …wow jeff….youre one of those people.

        • Haha. Yes, Cory, and you appear to be one of “those” people…

          • …but Im cody.

          • and I hope you mean a boy whos been disillusioned by this bipolar government system of demos and repos acting like children and come election time we all get objectified and are very government seems to be a sad joke made even sadder by the lengths each side will go to to put down the other and now realizes that he(me) will never have a say in government and any idea that I do is a lie and that I will not buy into this game of stupid notion that the red team or blue team is any better than the other.

            but dems/reps aside
romney was way too rich since birth and too pro companies(and not that aware of goings ons politics it seems or society) for me to believe hed be a goo-er adequate president. At least with Obama there is some semblance of what Id like but still neither are what I want truly from a president

…..but I do miss bill clinton, he was fun.

            • So, Cody, you finally admit who you are. Romney was “too rich” and “too pro comanies”, and with Obama, there is “some semblance” of what you woud like?! That says it all…no further explanation needed. You bought the demonizing and stereotyping of one candidate and chose to ignore the immense failings and bad record of the other. Who is the “sheep”?

  4. I saw Dredd yesterday. It was a total blast! It’s definitely one of my favorite films of the year. I thought Karl Urban did a fantastic job as Dredd, and the story and visuals were great.

Can anyone recommend any Dredd graphic novels I shouldn’t miss?

    • The Complete Case Files volumes are a good place to start. 02 contains The Cursed Earth Saga, 03 has the first appearance of Anderson and Judge Death (also collected in The Dark Judges), and 05 has The Apocalypse War. America is a classic, and there’s Chopper: Song Of The Surfer, Judgment Day, Mechanismo and The Pit.

      • Thanks, TBD! Also, did you see Dredd? If you did, as a reader of the comics, what did you think? Was the film a good adaptation of the comics? Was Urban an excellent Dredd?

        • I wrote something on the Dredd review thread: http://www.screenrant.com/dredd-3d-movie-reviews/#comments – I thought it did incredibly well on such a limited budget, Urban completely nailed it, and I’m genuinely gutted it fared so poorly at the box office. Olivia Thirlby made a fine Anderson; I’d definitely like to have seen her up against Judge Death, which Alex Garland had mapped out for the sequel, apparently. Remains to be seen how things pan out for the home release, but that looks highly unlikely now. Seems such a waste.

  5. I Recommend ‘Flight’ to those who haven’t seen it. Great film.

    • I want to see flight really bas

  6. How much will skyfall make opening weekend you think?

    • I think $65 million seems like a fair prediction. But I’ve seen some other predictions going as high as $90 million.

      • I think $70 million is a pretty good estimate because QoS made $67 four years ago. and with the rave reviews this one is getting and the pent up anticipation this should easily gross more opening weekend than QoS

      • Well then Im screwed this box office battle but I do wish wreck it ralph remains numba 1, I feel my disinterest in bond was my downfall and shoulda checked how much quantum made.

  7. I saw a post here a while ago that claimed that X-Men Origins: Wolverine was full of plot holes and made a lot of trouble for tyhe series as a whole.

Could someone explain to me what these were?

    • Who has the time for that? some of us work! lol

      • Alright… can you tell me where i can get a breakdown of it’s problems?

        • First, that movie isn’t official cannon anymore, so none of the continuity issues matter anymore. Second, try Google, I’m sure someone listed all the plot holes.

          • Huh? Not official cannon anymore? :-( Why not? Who ever said that? Not trying to be mean or anything, I just hadn’t heard that.

            • Kevin Feige, Avi Arad, Jackman, Lauren Donner and the guy who was supposed to direct The Wolverine among others.

              • A Couple Things:

1)Thanks for all the feedback! I think i understand the situation now.

                2) Wyh didn’t they cut out the Wolverine cameo and just re-boot the Series?

                3) Scapegoat– Love the name and pic! Much better than mine!

              • Personally I find that rather stupid, but oh well; I still enjoyed it. I was just thinking they were going to try and correct that with the Days of Future Past movie.

    • Honestly I don’t think it is as bad as people say it is. It dosn’t line up with First Class with the Professor X cameo at the end because he is bald in origins and not First Class, but that’s kind of nit-picky. Then agian Fist Class didn’t lineup with the rest of the continuity anyway.

      • Also the fact that Deadpool/WeaponXI has swords that are as long as his arms come out of his hands. If they weren’t out he wouldn’t be able to bend his arms, but I find that easily forgivable.

        • Ryan Reynold should be banned from playing any kind of comic character from this point on.

          • I thought his Deadpool at the beginning of the film was good, till they messed him up.

          • I would take that further and say he shouldnt acting outside the dumb frat boy comedies that made his “career” in the first place. The man has a good body, but that does not make one a good actor.

  8. With all the talk of star wars in the past week, I decided to watch the original trilogy, watching A New Hope at the moment. Definately going to watch Skyfall in IMAX on Friday I can’t wait.

  9. New episode of Arrow tonight!!! Just a question but does anybody think “black captain Picard” when they see and hear Walter on Arrow?

    • haha. Yes. And I don’t even watch Star Trek.

      • He’s just so distinguish, and proper like Picard. They sound just alike. They could be brothers, so to speak. :)

  10. watch the fighter yesterday for the first time. Wow Christian bale got really into his role. i can understand why he got nominated for best supporting actor. Movie started out a little slow but the second and third acts were really good. 7/10

  11. Just watched The Raid – awesome movie! I feel the Comparisons that Dredd got with it were unfair and I’m glad I saw Dresd first, I enjoyed them equally, violence and badassery, what more could you want!

    • Two movies I haven’t seen yet but am very pumped for! Is Dredd on DVD yet? Someone else posted about just seeing it too.

      • I don’t think so, will probably be released in the new year sometime, it’s still on the cinema in some places, they are both awesome in their own way

  12. Just finished watching the original unaltered version of star wars a new hope. Though I can appreciate the updated version with the extra scenes imo it was fine as it was originally. Oh and Han definately shoots first!!! Next the original version of empire strikes back followed by return of the jedi, making it an original trilogy marathon. :)

    • I am praying and hoping (and willing to sacrifice a child) that Disney will release a blu ray unaltered version of the Original Trilogy. Ahhh. Would be epic.

      • I’d buy them in a heartbeat!

      • That’s what I want. I will not buy any Star Wars on bluray until then.

      • I think every fan would’ve appreciated if the original unaltered versions were included in the Blu-ray set. Even though I’m watching the original versions on dvd the picture quality is pretty good. If Disney ever releases the unaltered versions on Blu-ray I’ll definately pick them up.

    • I have the original trilogy on VHS still. so its nice to pop them in and not worry about and alterations.

  13. Everytime I see clip of the Twilight movies on some late show I can’t help but notice how much these films look like a very cheaply made TV show. And then it hits me hat they actually show these in the theaters and charge money for them…

    • and thats why theyre the scariest films of all time.

    • I couldnt agree more! The CGI seems to get worse as the series has gone on, those jumping wolves, yikes!

The first one was bearable with a nap included for good measure, the second one, New Moon, was one of the worst films I’ve ever seen, stopped paying attention after that

      • It’s not just the effects but everything. The cinematography, the scene setups, how motionless people stand around in a room and reel off their lines with blank stares on their faces. It’s terrible.

      • I tried watching the first one on TV. If Edward used the direct approach to his women, the first act would have been over in 30 seconds. I gave up when the macho vampires showed up.

  14. After watching the latest episode of Dexter, it confirmed for me that Yvonne Strahovski would be a perfect casting choice for Ms Marvel…
Also, I think Ray Stevenson should be allowed to revise his role as The Punisher – did anyone see that prison scene I’m Dexter? Maybe marvel should get that ‘Supermax’ script and tailor it for Punisher as opposed to DC’s Green Arrow…
In fact, now that the have Daredevil back, Michael C Hall looks like a good choice…

  16. So is Disney also planning to buy Hasbro??????

  17. I watched (again) LotR: RotK yesterday, and I have to say that few films can bring me to tears but the scene where all of Gondor bowed to the meek Hobbits…..always gets me.

  18. So I was in Kroger the other day and I saw The Amazing Spiderman blue-ray on the shelf for sale and I had no idea it was out. I ended up not picking it up. Today I look it up on Amazon.com to see if I can get a good deal and it says it releases on the 9th. I look it up on eBay and people are selling their copies of it. I am now completely confuttled. Is amazon mistaken? Did Kroger put it up too soon? Is this a foreign version of the film that was released sooner?
If anybody knows what this is all about, could you please fill me in?

    • For logistical reasons stores usually receive their stock of copies days or even weeks before the official street date. They are contractually bound to adhere to these street dates to maintain fair competition among different stores. But as it happens, either by mistake or deliberately, some of these stores might break the street date and start selling products early, for which they could get into trouble should they get reported.

  19. I know what you mean I work at A Walmart and there are always boxes of DVD’s or books in storage. And they can be marked with “Do Not Open Till”and whatever dates they have aranged.

  20. I can’t wait till Friday so I can get the amazing Spider-Man on BluRay! Pretty excited to watch it again. Really enjoyed it.

  21. My theater will be handing out limited prints of IMAX posters at the midnight premier of Skyfall :D

  22. There’s a campaign for Brad Bird for Star Wars that’s picking up a lot of steam. Several places have written articles on it.

Here is the fan video endorsing him.
