Bloody Hell… I almost forgot about our usual weekly discussion again! I really need to come up with some way to remind myself every week…
Lots to talk about, mainly Indy 4 I suppose, but I’d rather you guys chimed on on THAT movie over at our most excellent “How Indiana Jones Movies Influenced Us” post.
Have at it!

Wow, i am the first to comment?
All i gotta say is that i am going to check out indy regardless and you betcha i am going to see iron man a third time!
Ok,
IN which ways would YOU change how Hollywood works (accepting scripts, handling classics, distribution of BluRay or Digital media, actors, writers and their main stream productions?)
If you could upgrade Hollywood to be more modern, versatile and fresh, what would you change or add to it and why?
Is it fair to give $20 million for an actor who is on the job for about 3 months of his life and then can do another three or four such movies in one year? AND THEN they want to strike? Is if fair that writers are borderline homeless cause they’re just not getting paid enough for their work? Is it fair that certain groups of people like Mexicans, women etc still don’t get nearly as much in pay as their co stars who are white?
The list goes on, add some to if it you feel there is more stuff to mention….
If somehow you’d become President of Paramount studios WHAT WOULD YOU DO? (Don’t go too deep into Star Trek
Iron Man is going to be a tough act to follow – but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the Hulk.
Indy lost me after number two – so I will probably wait for the disc.
The other thing that caught my eye was the Highlander remake. Best part of the movie is of course the Kurgen – I hope they can actually cast a Scottish actor this time.
Until 2112 – I remain the Snowdog
i just wanted to say I am very glad that universal has started to advertise the Hulk film .
the good thing is indy is back and that’s all it matters by the way directing legends peter jackson and steven spielberg may co-direct the 3rd tintin film
Vic I am a great Indy and Young Indy, my concern is that there seems to be no connection between the two. I loved the fact that you had is 80ish yearold man relating tales of his youth. Will this movie help to bridge the gap. This writer will be eagerly await this and any future episodes of Indy.
Indy ROCKED and I think is going to put up MONSTER numbers at the box office this weekend. There were probably at least 100 people at the midnight screening tonight. Don’t be surprised if Indy does $150 mil.
I also watched “Blades of Glory” this evening and I was surprised by how much I liked it. Yes, it was typical Will Ferrell, but the “Old School” funny Ferrell, not “Anchorman” Ferrell. It was stupid humor and I laughed QUITE a bit. 790, don’t bother watching it, you’ll hate it.
It was nice seeing the Batman trailer on the big screen this evening. I think it’s going to be an AWESOME movie.
The whole ‘actor gets paid huge but the writer gets little’ is very unfair, and yet most people do go mainly for who is in what movie, not whether it is well written. Which is tragic.
If I ran Paramount, apart from rolling around in my money, I would take chances. Not go for safe and easy, which might make money but impresses no one and I can’t see it continuing to work. Nothing can stay the same for too long.
Make some original movies and watch them hit or miss, think the hits would make up for the misses myself.
OK,
whats the weather like for all of you?
Its downcast with drizzle here in Los Angeles and I am worried about it Affecting Indys friday take .
I need the help of some Indy experts .
Over at another website some guy was talking about Temple of Doom and how the Shankara stones allowed him to be “Possessed by Shiva at the end and thats why he “went all psycho over
Malo Ram”.
I always thought Indy was just reciting A hindu invocation to Shiva telling him of Malo Rams betrayal.
Thoughts?
Minor Spoilers Stephen,,,
Bitor, my ship isn’t coming and I just can’t pretend….^ lol
Thanks Andy, yet I had no plans to see BOG anywhoo.
How to change Hellywood. First we have to kick all the scientologists out of town, far out past Barstow. Hopefully they’ll head to Vegas at that point cause there’s lots of money there.
Then clean up and house the homeless.
Then we need to take back the streets from crime and gangs…. (Cops we don’t need to know if you want to take out the worst of the gangers, go ahead take um out, I’m looking the other way).
When that’s done we need to have the Studios hire “everyone from Screen Rant” to run a Viral monster website (IMAXSreen ThunderRant 2, the Holtreman Project). This site will become everyones home page (like it or not).
After that it dosnt matter. Will take over world in 9 months.
Indy 4, it was good!
I have to ask, how would Indy4 have been received if it was the sequel to “Raiders?”
Think back,,,,,,
ET was big, I think this Crystal Skull alien plot would have been real popular. Much more than it seems to be today. ???
Gary you call this drizzel?
Ooh you mean the weather. Gotcha
Just saw the first half of A&E’s new version of “The Andromeda Strain.”
I wasn’t very impressed, especially when comparing it to the original.
Vic
The plot of Andromeda sure has been played out latley.
Most recently with the Bird Flu pandemic tv movie.
(IMO)
Bio-disasters are allways kinda of a bummer to watch.
I enjoyed reading the Stand, by Steven King. That was a superior version of the Andromeda Strain.
Btw
I’m looking forward to the Rambo dvd coming out tomarrow. I didn’t see it in theatres.
Watched a excellent film tonight on dvd called , “Gunner Palace”.
A sureal look at the Iraq war filmed on location. The film was shot on handheld cameras yet its more steady than say Cloverfield. The film did have some annoying rap music but other than that it was a amazing look at the day to day sh_t that our Troops are dealing with over there.
Its the story of a battalion that takes over Ubay Hussains (Saddems sons) palace.
In some scenes the film reminded me of Apocalypes Now and Cops.
Amazing.
Rated pg-13

I just realized that even though (Gunner Palace) is rated pg-13, the F-bomb is all over the place.
