  1. I’m pretty excited about the the movies 2011 is bringing, Captain America, Thor, Sucker Punch but 2012 is really starting to shape up to be an awesome movie year too!! Avengers, Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus, Man of Steel, The Amazing Spiderman.

It’s a great time to be a movie fan!! :)

    • I agree with almost all of what you said. I think Spider-Man is going to be an unmitigated disaster.

I’m also REALLY looking forward to Cowboys and Aliens.

      • See, considering the cast of Cowboys And Aliens, the cool concept and having a good director, I thought it would be something I would really like. But having seem the trailer and Superbowl spot, it didnt seem interesting at all, it looked pedestrain and a bit drab.

    • These next 2 years will, IMHO, be record breakers for the box office. And I agree; while this year looks great, next year looks even greater.

      • Yeah TDKR and SpiderMan are both going to be great next year is going to be one of the best in movies :)

    • You forgot Star Trek 2!!!

      • I didnt like Star Trek 1.

        • :o

          Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!?!?!?

          • That only means that Star Trek was a better picture than I thought! Even the WORST Trek film (Star Trek 5) is more preferable than any HP movie. :P

            • lol Andy that cracked me up.

              • Yeah but it’s true Rick!

                • Poor lad is in denial.

          • Yeah. It sucked big time. That guy who played Spock was awful. And Spock and Uhura getting it on?! I know this is supposed to be a different timeline, but come on…

            • it happens in the show so why not in the movie, now I know that Spocks reular girl was nurse chapel, but they do get it on

              • Uh, when? I’ve seen every episode of TOS, more than once, and there was never an episode where Spock got it on with Uhura. I did like Star Trek and when I saw that scene, my mouth hit the floor, but I got over it.

              • Have to agree with Kahless there, LL – I think this is about the closest it ever got!

                http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0dzoF7Ev-E

        • Technically it was Star Trek 11. And why didn’t you like it exactly?… Not enough repressed teen tension? Please explain to me how you didn’t like the BEST movie of 2009?!

          • woah, in what universe was Star Trek the best film of 2009? (and is it really the 11th?)

            • In the Mirror Universe, of course! And yep, it certainly was the 11th Trek movie.

              • Oh I know that chronologically its the 11th movie, but I’ts hard for me to consider it like that since its the original series and a reboot.

                • The Red Letter Media guy just refers to it as “Star Trek: The…Star Trek”. :-)

                • Guys, guys calm down you act as if I committed a crime LMAO. I just didnt understand it and so because of that I found it boring.

                  • Ussualy when I movie confuses me I’m not bored, I love playing along and seeing if I can catch up with the movie.
Star Trek though did bore, don’t remember specifically why I didn’t like it (it’s not like I hated it though) but I do remember that afterwards I watched episodes of the original series and enjoyed myself there more than in the movie.

And Dr. Sam, to be honest for me there were several more enjoyable movies that year. My favorite film of 2009, Fantastic Mr. Fox, left me with a sh*t eating grin for over a week.

            • Was there a mire enjoyable film that year? Not for me, cannot remember the last time I left a cinema with such a grin on my face.

              • Yeah I remember a couple films, hmmm
Watchmen, District 9 and a indie classic Avatar.

All came out in 2009 as well as the nuke the franchise moment called Terminator Salvation.

                • ZING!!!

  2. Monday… bleh…

  3. With movies like Avatar and Alice in Wonderland grossing over 1 billion dollars worldwide and the fact that Michael Bay has brought in James Cameron’s tech team and Cameron calling it the 3D event of the year, as well as keeping in mind that Revenge of the Fallen made over 800 million in 2009…Will Transformers: Dark of the Moon gross over 1 billion dollars this summer?

    • Perhaps I know HP7 will.

      • Will you be in costume for the last one? I can just picture you first in line for the movie dressed in robe about to pee yourself, waving a wand around to make the the movie start.

        :D

        • HAHAHAHAHA

        • I’d prefer he keep his wand inside his robe, he might poke someone’s eye out. :P

      • HP7 already came out… :p

      • so possibly 2 movies comming out in july to make over a billion?

        • HP7 part 2!

And this time im going to the midnight release Im wearing my HPshirt I dont have Robes or anything im not THAT crazy haha

          • I think I’ll dress up my tiny nephew as Prof. Flitwick and drag him along. Hee, Hee!

          • Hah, in honor of the fact that Winnie the Pooh comes out on the same day, my friends and I will be dressed as Winnie the Pooh characters for the Part 2 midnight release (except for one person, I think she mentioned she’s going as a female Captain America).

            • That’ll make for some interesting photos. Anyone coming as Dr Zoidberg?

          • Ricky, for a guy your size, your shirts qualify as robes. :)

            • AN XL shirt isnt qualifiedas robes come on! :)

              • XL, you were tight robes?? ibk!!

                • good one!

                • Don´t be mean guys. :)

Of course he´ll be in first line. Dressed as Hagrid. Plus: in that outfit he can use his mom´s ID to buy beer. :D Just kidding, Ricky.

                  • LMAO!! Sorry rickster that was hilarious

          • I have a hard time believing that… Haha. Star Trek has Trekkies, you are a Pottie ;) haHA

            … bathroom humor

      • HP7 may gross 1 Billion GLOBALLY but certainly not domestically.

  4. Thankfully all those great 2012 movies will be released before the world ends on Dec. 21st. The studios better have a big party and spend those millions first.

It’s kind of like Richard Pryor’s Brewster’s millions. “if you can spend 30 million in 30 days and have nothing to show for it, you get 300 million!”

or is that the government bank bailout?

  5. I just watched Predators the other night and I was expecting a horrible movie after all the bellyaching I read about it. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I’m not a big fan of Topher Grace, but I thought he was pretty good in this film. I definitely would love to see another Predator film…maybe even with Arnold joining the cast somehow.

  6. Hi guys,
I just found this site, and spent the last few hours reading the discussions about inception! Some great stuff!

I have a plot question about Limitless, that has a spoiler. Where should I post the question?

    • Just put up a Spoiler Alert deal and post your ques on the Limitless review.

      SPOLIERS AHEAD YO !!

Then put your spolier down here,,,,

    • Here.

  7. So I saw Rango this past weekend (which I loved) but I was annoyed at this kid that kept running around the theater, screaming and crying and to my shock the parents were ignoring him! What is the proper thing to do in a situation like that anyway? Call one of the ushers or tell the parents to take the kid outside until he/she is well behaved?

And is it bad that i think that Tangled was the worst film of 2010? A bunch of my friends are calling me heartless after I stated that.

And I was watching Alfred Hitchcock Presents and saw this awesome intro:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09Zsd858KQs

    • Best way to avoid kids at the movies, dvds.

Also it helps if your not seeing movies designed for small children like Rango. That thing doesn’t even look like Johnny Depp.
      ^
My friends called me heartless for dissing Tangled and then we all laughed and watched I don’t remember but it was rated R!

      • Yeah the chameleon looked like Steve Buscemi.

And also, despite the film being PG a bunch of critics and several threads on IMDB have said that Rango is definitely not kid friendly, it has way to many classical movie references that’ll fly over the kids heads and is very violent for a PG film (something I disagreed) and some of the humor is adult (something I agreed). If parents had read that then there would’ve been less kids there I guess.

    • Buy an ice cream for the kid and hand it to the parents without a single word, but grinning psychotically.

      • In a situation like that speak with a theater manager they will give you free passes to any movie any time and those passes will let you in to see 3D for FREE. So you get to see atleast half the movie and you get free tickets.

About Tangled,I dont understand how you can be so heartless LOL

  8. I would really like to see a good Witchblade movie! Anybody hear anything about it lately? Or did it get the axe?

  9. Don’t answer that Rickster! Its a trick question.

Star Trek 11 sucked, and I’m right there with you on that!!!

    • Maybe you and Ricky can form a club. A lonely club.

      • 790, I liked the Star Trek reboot lol.

  10. UPDATE: EW is now saying Variety is incorrect. While he has a role, the magazine says it’s not Alberto Falcone. Let the speculation start again…

  11. …Ok…I just need to get this out…I haven’t really read many reviews on Battle LA besides the one here, but the general consensus is that it was a bad movie. In addition, the movie fell 60% gross after its opening weekend, so people are also not really enjoy it.
Maybe I easily influenced, but I really enjoyed it. I felt that what the director and the lead actor said they wanted to accomplish they did. The invasion felt real, a lot of people died (important characters in the film).. I felt that the dialogue was fine. Shaky cam did not bother me. I am just disappointed that it seems that not a lot of people liked the film. Its like remake of THE CRAZIES…I haven’t found one friend that liked it. Anyway I should rap this up before I start to rant :)

    • ivan,

A movie dropping 60% in its second weekend is NOT “bad.” It’s an average drop for a movie that is doing moderately well.

      More than 60% = bad.

Less than 60% = very good.

      Vic

      • thanks Vic…

  12. Lol, if Star Trek 11 was sooooo amazing how come Paramount has zero plans to do another tv series?

When do tires squeel in dirt? They don’t and it wasn’t amazing.

    • Because they can’t make as much money. Don’t make me smack you with my replica Loc-Nar 790!!

  13. Ants, Star Trek 11, barely made its money back. Paramount spent roughly 200 mil on the film and another 200 mil promoting and flying the cast around the world.

A 24 epsiode series if done right would make more $$$ then the film. Think of worldwide tv commercial ads and dvd revenues. How do you think CBS could afford to pay Sheen 2mil a week. Tv baby, its profitable.

Unfortunitly paramount’s brass don’t care about Star Trek that’s why your settling for a new film every 3 or 4 years.

This new Trek is a huge setback for the franchise. Where do you go with the tv series? The studio won’t let a series undermine the film franchise.

So were stuck with love crazed Spock, a destroyed timeline, no more Vulcan, comedian Scotty, a helmsman with speaking difficulties, Coors Light ad placements, enginnering section is a water treatment facility in Chino California, lame android cops, Enterprise is built in somebodys wide open fenced off backyard. Unexplained plot holes, main villians take 16 years off to allow the plot to develop.

Its crap Jim, don’t step in it,,, :)

    • Im so happy that 790 and I highly agree on this! 8-)

      • Ricky, any movie that isn’t HP is boring to you. 790…we’ll agree to disagree i guess, virtual beer to you my friend :)

    • Ok I can’t be totally bothered to reply to all of that. But I’ll take one, main villain taking sixteen years, well, for one Nero was captured by the Klingons and sent to Rura Penthe, where he waited for a time to escape and capture Spock.

  14. Apologies in advance if I’m the only one still asking this question but I have not had the time in the past 3-6 months to scan the screenrant website like I used to do…

Does anyone know if anyone even remotely connected to SUPERMAN either thru the Reboot or even associated with SMALLVILLE, given any insight as to why it appears that TOM WELLING appears to have been given the brush off by SNYDERs Superman reboot? AS far as I can tell he wasn’t even a prime candidate for the role. And now that we know it’s a 30-soemthing Superman we’ll be seeing it makes even less sense.

    Let’s weigh the options.

On this side we have Tom Welling the only actor since Christopher Reeves portrayed Superman in the late 70’s, to bring success, not to mention lasting success (10 seasons of lasting success) to the Superman Character who not only has an established fan base that could almost be guaranteed to be attendees of the film but he’s the right age for the version of Superman being portrayed.

On this side we have Cavil who has done some great acting so far and who will most likely go on to do other great roles, who also has never done anything Superman related nor as best as I can tell anything related to the cmoc book world at all.

And the winner is, Snyder and Cavil

The possible losers: US. How? Because if they bomb this reboot it will be another generation before any studio is willing to risk the kind of money needed to do a Superman reboot.

Any insight, even if it’s just rumors are most appreciated.

    • I’ve asked myself this. Who knows? I wouldn’t be so irritated if most of the leaks didn’t make it sound like Smallville: The Movie. If they were going to use so much of Smallville, they should have just cast Tom Welling, IMO. OTOH, those rumors can’t be right, because Joe Manganiello was almost picked, and there is no way he could pass as young enough to be Origin pre-Superman. OTOH, they cast youngish Kents with big names, suggesting large parts with large screen time. Maybe they are also going to cast a younger Clark Kent for the extensive Smallville stuff. (Dear God, NO!) The dreaded Logan Lerman rumors arise again. The idea of Lerman as Superboy / young Clark is so hideous that I’d have to form a picket line in front of theaters.

  15. WB wants a new start for the Superman Franchise.
After ten years I would say Smallville doesnt represent a new beginnning but more of the same old thing.

  16. Lol, Blue Collar, if this one bombs,,,

Hilarious that its 2011 and they still can’t make a Superman film without it being a reboot.

    This isn’t quantum physics. :)

    • To the Hollywood dumbasses, it sure is 790!!

  17. DSB,,,
Let’s analize (I’m goning to rag on some of the parts I hated) a few Star Trek 11 things. Keep in mind its beer-o-clock monday style across the pond. :)
    ^
    (The new vision the villain)
Besides the dumbed down teen friendly rebooted Kirk and ponfar-pubescent Spock, the adversary Nero (and his crew) was a complete joke intellectually and his leadership skills were nothing more then grunts and groans. Yeah I got his back story. Still sucked. Sybok was more of a threat to the universe.
    ^
    (finale)
Nero’s (what a lame name) final scene was incredibly pathetic, he sits there and acts like a 10 year old kid as teen Kirk comedically attacks his ship. We leave the scene as Nero’s (advanced?) ship as limping away in flames, Kirk and bridge crew,,,,,
laughing like school girls. And cut,,,
    ^
    (the canon)
One of the most insulting scenes,,, (besides the entire film) the Kobiyashi test scene. That scene was horribly written and performed. For me a life long fan of the show It was a slap and then subsequent beating followed by a back alley sex crime. :(
    ^
    (locations)
Ok,,,let’s not forget the 2 starfed Academy scenes that take place months apart, and clearly look like they shot those scenes in the same hour. And that’s because they did.

Engineering wthwt? (the sewer deck). Come on dude the brige was a blinding idisco ball. Engineering where all the futuristic warp stuff goes looks like the water treament plant in Bakersfield. Oh that’s because it was,,,,!!!!!!!!!!!!
    ^
(door hit me on the way out moment)
Pike is recovering and using a wheelchair. Oh that’s just so, ooooh man!!! stick it in and break it off be-acth
    Abrams!!!!!!!!!!! (Best Kirk scream!)
    The old fat real one.
    ^
Alright I feel better now,,,, enjoy your lame Star Trek movie. :)

  18. Abrams Star Trek has become such a parody of itself. I wouldn’t be surprised if Simon Pegg recommends his manfriend Nick Frost to play Harry Mudd.

Oh wait that’s because he did!!!!!
    ^
    http://trekmovie.com/2011/03/19/simon-pegg-sugests-nick-frost-for-new-harry-mudd-in-star-trek-sequel/
    ^

    Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!
    :O

  19. Stephen King is in talks to write an episode of The Walking Dead within the next two seasons:http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/03/21/stephen-king-walking-dead-amc/

  20. Its a suggestion , not a fact.
No confirmation Mudd is even in the script.

  21. I’m REALLY excited for 5 movies this year: Transformers: Dark of The Moon, Captain America, Harry Potter 7 Part II, Larry Crowne and One Day. The Transformers NASCAR and Super Bowl TV spots have me psyched for this threequel. Although I didn’t think Transformers 2 was the worst movie ever (that would be Iron Man 2), I’m hoping DOTM will be an improvement. I’m also eagerly waiting a theatrical trailer for Harry Potter – I’m rooting for it to be the epic finale everyone’s expecting it to be. Captain America looks like a superhero movie done right. Larry Crowne has got Hanks and Roberts in one movie – need I say more? As for One Day, I’m a sucker for romances.

    • Was there any real doubt??

      • Not really, but this just makes it official. I mean, Justin Timberlake up for Kaneda? WTF?

        • Ghost, you beat me to the punch. I had to collect myself after laughing, then shaking my head, then getting upset at the thought that this movie is going to make money, just as Last Airbender did, despite being a candidate for worst movie of all time.

Come on, for the role of Tetsuo — Robert Pattinson, Andrew Garfield, James McAvoy??

And for Kaneda — Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Chris Pine, Justin Timberlake, Joaquin Phoenix?

Hard to imagine that Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures who have helped bring the Nolan Batman movies and Inception to fruition are behind this terribly whitewashed version of “Akira.” Did they even watch Batman Begins, Dark Knight or Inception? All three were very diverse and that diversity (including some Asian actors) didn’t hurt it one bit, did it?

I truly, honestly, deeply hope this movie flops. Shame on Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures.

  22. Guys is “Lean On Me” a good film? I bought it im going to see it tomorrow. As well as “Paul” with some friends :)

    • It’s alright. If you like those inspiring-type of movies that have a good-hearted teacher or principal who comes to clean up a school in the inner city, you’ll probably like it.

It does have Morgan Freeman as real-life principal Joe Clark, who took a tough, no-joke approach to cleaning up Eastside High. There won’t be many surprises as it’s very much like all the similar movies that came out before and after, and it’s somewhat corny at times.

But it’s still a fun watch, if somewhat dated now by the music and fashion.

Also check out Stand and Deliver, and Dangerous Minds. More recently, Gridiron Gang is OK, covering similar ground, but it’s about a young football team made of kids in juvenile hall.

    • I thought Morgan Freeman was great as Joe Clark. It’s a inspiring movie with very good performances from the young and older actors.

    • An Epic film! I really enjoyed it anyway

  23. 790. I loved Star Trek. It’s now in my top 10 movies of all time. You won’t change my mind.

    • Mine either..it’s one of the rare movies I and 790 disagree on lol.

  24. I’ve never seen any of the Harry Potters…

    • Oh noes..I liked them, though I didn’t care for the first Pt. 7 it was too damn boring.

  25. What happened to the most popular articles on the top right of the homepage?

    • Jake,

Something changed that was outside our control which broke the code on our end, and we haven’t rewritten it yet to compensate for that change.

      Vic
