Considering how many people responsed to The Last Cylon thread, I am surprised there wasnt a thread For the Battlestar Galactica Finale. I really enjoyed it. Sorry about that rambling post from the other day, but I was just trying to warn people about things Ron Moore said wasnt going to be in the finale . Sometimes if you get your hopes up for one of these final episodes it affects how you view it . Nothing worse then high expectations that are not met .

No, nothing that bad. I would argue the show is firmly on the side of the cops after the criminals. But it doesn't hide the ugly side of either.
Ken J
Oh no, harsh life in the ghetto? Don't tell me it' ssympathizing with criminals and making it seem like they have "reasons" for committing crimes. I hate "boohoo, look how hard my life is, now I HAVE to commit crimes" stories in movies and shows, lol. Tell me it isn't so! lol

I've only just started watching the Wire. They're showing it all again, over here in the UK, if I've heard it will soon be on the BBC and it will be interesting to see what kind of response it gets.
So far I've loved it. I wouldn't say it gives any view of America, more it focuses on the characters and the environment they inhabit. It has the politics of the police force and the rough lives of people in a ghetto. Nothing new really, and it doesn't show one side better than the other.
The only major comment I can think of it has made is that the FBI has had the war on drugs lessened in order to fight the war on terror.
But again, I'm only several episodes in so maybe there is more later.

I heard this morning that Pixar's "UP" is going to be opening the Cannes Film Festival. I guess this is a big honor to begin with, but a first for both an animated film and/or a 3D film. Major props to Pixar!
Ken J
Almost forgot to ask this, but I wanted to ask people who've seen "The Wire" what the show is about and what kind of "world view" or at least view of America that the show tries to portray. This was brought up in another article's comments but it wasn't related so I didn't want to seem like I was hijacking it.
So comments? criticisms?
wes
@ Gary It would be nice, but I don't think Hugh Jackman really wants to play Wolverine anymore. His comments sound more like obligation than excitement. That said, Fox still wants to milk the X-universe for more cash. That's why the title should be renamed X-men 4:The Beginning.
Gary
My only problem with Wolverine is it looks like its being used as a launching pad for both Deadpool and First Class films(young Cyclops) and I would rather it be strictly about Logan.

That's kind of what I'm getting at. I'm a huge comic fan and a huge geek but I know what I like also and so far? I likes what I sees of wolvie's new movie lol If I want my fix of all things original I'll read through my comics :P

I wasover at Galactica Sitrep last night and I clicked on a link to a BSG Blog on LIveJournal. there was a transcript of a portion of Ron Moores Latest Podcast. He wanted people to know that contrary to fan speculation, The finale does NOT have anything in it about Daniel or some mysterious connection between Starbuck and Daniel. Ron said the revelation about Daniel was meant to say something about John Cavill, that he was willing to kill another because of his fear that person would become just as beloved as he was. It was meant to be a Cain And Abel allegory . It was never meant to be a big reveal or an attempt to mislead people. But Ron said that the"cult of Daniel" had taken on a life of its own, So , He felt the need to address it. I think It GREAT that he told us this beforehand! This last part is ME not Ron, Remember that all those ad you see telling you that you will soon know the truth is SCIFIS ad campaign . Its not Ron Moore promising you the answers to everything . Just go into the finale only with the expectation that you will spend 2 more hours with characters you have grown to love . Thats all you should expect because thats all you KNOW will happen. and for me , That is MORE then enough.
Some superhero characters are very near and dear to our hearts, and that's why all the angst.
I've come to accept that some things that work in the comics just wouldn't tranlsate well to a live action film.

@cali: I wasnt bashing the movie, i was asking all the naysayers! I really excited for the movie and am banking on it being one of my favorite movies!

@Vic
I agree with you completely but I always see the diehard fanboys going off the deep end anytime something floats outside of a certain continuity. Relax, enjoy what looks to be a blockbuster action flick for the summer and just have some fun. Know what I mean?

Why havent we seen a picture of Dominic Monahan as Beak? Granted I know that he isnt a main character, and not all that known in the Marvel Universe, well that and he dies in the upcoming Wolverine movie, but I would love to see what he looks like. I wonder if he actually gave him the akward looking beak and body of the character from the comics, or unless Fox screwed that up also.

This has been my idea for a Superman movie the whole time.......
Make a trilogy!!
Part 1) Superman being Superman, fighting whomever you want him to fight that he can actually FIGHT! Bizarro, Darkseid, Metallo, Parasite, whoever. During the movie at random points have a cutaway of Doomsday punching through his prison like in the comics leading up to their fight.
Part 2) Have it start with Doomsday crashing through the prison he was in and making his way towards metropolis and about 2/3 of the way you have them fight and both die. Then you have the funeral and all that and have it end with the 4 supermen showing up.
Part 3) Have the 4 supermen doing their things and have Superman in the shadows watching the monitors. Have Cyborg turn evil and have it end with Superman returning and taking out cyborg and reclaiming his title of superman.
Just my 2 cents on how it could work, and how it could keep people interested.
I don't know... every new clip or TV commercial I see for Wolverine has my hoping that it actually turns out to be awesome. Of course all that footage can be misleading, but I'm hoping.

Ok everyone is bashing the wolverine movie based almost exclusively on the deadpool points. No one has any idea what happens with the character from the limited clips we are shown. Watch the movie and enjoy it based on an actual viewing not 2 minutes of clips mashed together for a trailer.
As far as supes goes. I'm probably one o gthe biggest superman geeks you'll ever meet. I wasn't all that disappointed in the latest movie. It was decent and brought him back in action on the big screen. My biggest complaint about that entire series is lack of depth especially when dealing with villains. it's supposed to be a superman movie, not lex luthor featuring superman. pick someone a little more on par physically with big blue give us a decent storyline and let the huge CGI and special effects blow our minds. They've always tried to humanise the character a bit too much in the movies. he's a cosmis level super hero, show it off for once yeesh. i'll bet we don't see good old green lantern spend 5 movies fighting say.... the IRS because he doesn't pay a luxury tax on that ring of his.

The Thundercats trailer was pretty cool, except for the stupid Snarf character. IF they ever REALLY make a Thundercats movie, they would be well advised to leave that annoying turd out of it.

While we're on the topic of how really bad Spiderman3 was..
You should see this version of how it should have ended if you haven't already. It actually made the disappointment less painful:
I love that trailer! If that was the real trailer, I'd be so desperate to see the movie. Casting was great, especially Diesel and Jackson.
Also geeked out at some of the movies used - Space Hunter and Masters of the Universe. Plus the old knight from the Last Crusade! :D

was wondering if you were aware of how many scripts you have running in the background of this site. it's a giant list!

Superman is my second favorite comic character...my fav dc character. I was severely....SEVERELY disappointed in the newest movie. They need to do a real update.....maybe the Doomsday storyline. That would be perfect! Because they are BIG movie industry they could even turn that into a two part movie with him dieing at the end of the first one.
King-of-Riva
I'm still wondering what DC are goin to do with Superman. He's one of my favorite characters and sooo underrated...
Most people who say Superman is too "Cheesy" or "Superheroey" are just comparing the old supes films to the more modern nolan batman's. Thus they say Batman is "way cooler" lol.
My guess is that if they did a superman update correctly, i.e. the way he has been portrayed in the Graphic Novels recently, then you'd get loads of poeple saying superman is cool as well.
Just imagine a supes movie based on the "Birthright" story...

Theres been alot of talk about how they are ruining deadpool in the wolverine movie. Now that ryan reynolds has said that his character sticks with the theme of origins...does that make you all feel better. Especially with the posibility of a spin off?
