He’s dead. Give his a break from all the ridicule for a while. Nobody’s perfect.

High Kalibur says:

About Michael Jackson… I just don’t get the general mentality of many people… like… “Show some respect”…

I ask those same people… if Joe Schmo the pedophile died would anybody even care? A pedophile that can sing and dance is still a pedophile.

“We are what we do repeatedly…” -Aristotle

Anyway, the death didn’t strike one emotional chord with me. You know whose death really did strike me and it seems it was completely undermined: Stan Winston…

My goodness… I say name your Top 10 favorite special effects films, especially from childhood and it is a good bet Winston was involved with a decent number of them.

He deserves an honorary memorial service, a real one by cinema constituents far and wide. I guess his memory will have to settle for a dedication on ‘Salvation’.

I didn’t even want to write about death… : ( I am just annoyed with everyone running around work talking about Jackson.

The question I wanted to ask you fine gentlemen was –

Are you extremely disappointed with this Summer Film Season (as I am), especially when you contrast it with 2008. I mean… there aren’t really many more films to go through. ‘GI Joe’ really looks like it is based on toys and the only films I see upcoming that may truly be memorable are ‘Public Enemies’ and ‘Where the Wild Things Are’. Albeit, I have not seen Transformers 2. I am deployed overseas but I have arranged for a large group of people to see it IMAX style when we get back. But, if your reviews are any indicator, the problems with the first have not gone away.

How did we go from Summer 2008… to this…?

Matt Keith says:

I’m pretty dissappointed w/ the summer so far…I mean only films I really cared to see were Transformers and Terminator, both were enjoyable, but weren’t like I thought they would be especially Terminator.

High Kalibur says:

Yeah… I just watched Terminator 2 last night… it really is a masterpiece… Salvation is like a popcorn flick…

790 says:

Salvation is like a kick to the groin area.

I always love the scenes in T2 when they break Sarah out of Pescadero. Her reaction to seeing Terminator is one of the best scenes of the franchise.

“Help her!!!”,,,,,, Wait here,,,

he’ll kill us all !!!!!! :-)

Ken J says:

2009 so far has been a disappointment when it comes to quantity, but it gave us Gran Torino and Star Trek, both of which are excellent. 2008 definitely had more to write home about, but remember, we’re only half way through 2009, we still have potential hits like Avatar in front of us.

790 says:

2009 also gave us Fanboys and Moon. Both great films (IMO) and both opened on fewer then 40 screens.

Star Trek, Terminator, were both let downs for me.

Matt Keith says:

If noone has found R2D2 in “Star Trek” then here it is.

Matt Keith says:

LOL nevermind…its says in that article that isn’t R2.

Andy S says:

So far the summer season has been disappointing. I didn’t get a chance to see T4, and to be honest, it really doesn’t bother me that I won’t see until it’s on DVD. I enjoyed Wolverine and Star Trek, alot. Trek more than Wolvie, but both were fun for me. I’m hoping that when I FINALLY get to see UP on Sunday night, that it salvages the season for me. I will probably see Transformers 2 during a matinee, but Angels and Demons, T4 and Night at the Museum are all Netflix material. GI Joe I will wait and see what Vic and others say before wasting my cash.

As for MJ, karma is a b*tch, ain’t it Mikey. I hope that you’re getting the Hitler treatment from the film Little Nicky right now. Sicko.

790 says:

Lolz Andy, I’ve been reluctantly reading some of the comments on (/film) and its just comical to me that people worship this guy. He’s lucky he didn’t die in jail.

One commenter typed Micheal Jackson = God. What kind of obsessed sick fan mind equates that statis?

Its comimg out now that he was taking massive pain medications. The list of drugs would make Rush Limbaugh jelous.

Have a great life review Jacko, now you can feel how you stole other childrens childhoods.

Matt Keith says:

“What kind of obsessed sick fan mind equates that statis?”

When I was watching CNN last night, this someone said that he shook Jackson’s hand and then a little girl asked that guy if he touched Jackson and he responded by saying “He shook my hand”. He went on to say that the girl touched the guy’s hand and fainted.

790 says:

Yeah Matt I don’t relate to that kind of worship. Thankfully.

Right now there’s a line of hundreds waiting to touch his star in front of Manns Chinese Theater. (Get a life)

790 says:

I’m wondering now if Jackson’s death will impact Transformers 2… 8-O

790 says:

Wednesdays take 60mil
Thursdays take 28mil
Fridays Box office results will be interesting…

Trans2 might not break Spider Mans record after all.

Matt Keith says:

Has anyone else here watch “Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children Complete” yet?

Condemnation without investigation is height of ignorance- Albert Einstein.. Need I say more…

High Kalibur says:

Yes… I forgot about Avatar… but I was speaking more of the Summer Blockbuster Season, isn’t that usually May-August circa? Gran Torino came out in the Fall didn’t it? I remember it being in the theater along with Benjamin Button.

Last year there were just so many great movies and in all genres too. I truly thought that this year was going to blow me away…

I hope that Iron Man 2 kicks off an amazing Summer Season 2010.

High Kalibur says:

@ greenknight333

Blind faith in the competencies and abilities of law enforcement agencies and courts to administer true justice is naive.

It doesn’t take a radical or conspiracy theorist to acknowledge that innocent men are often condemned and the guilty walk free.

Ken J says:

@HK, I saw Gran Torino in December of last year but it was only in limited release then. I thought it went wide in the beginning of 2009, but I guess I’m mistaken.

I’m going to wait for Moon to come out on DVD. Apparently the people behind it chose to skip states with large populations to release it in smaller but more particular states in their limited release. So I guess no reason for me to spend my money to watch it when I can see it for free when it comes out on DVD since my friend has that monthly rental subscription thingy, lol.

Nothing would be what it is,
because everything would be what it isn’t.
And contrary wise, what it is, it wouldn’t be.
and what it wouldn’t be, it would.

You make far too many assumptions..This world is far too immersed in ignorance for me to be naive.I choose not to play the convicted by the media game like so many others. We can agree to disagree ..

Billy Mays ,
Popular TV pitchman has Died.

Matt Keith says:

I heard about that as well….very sad…may he rest in peace.

High Kalibur says:

@ Ken J

Yeah… I never even saw Moon playing anywhere…

And too bad Billy Mays — OxyClean… is awesome!

790 says:

@High Kalibur, “Moon” is only out in 7 theaters nationally.

Lucky for me there’s a theater that plays independent films our here in Pasadena.
I’ve recently seen “Moon” and “Alien Trespass” there.

When “Moon” goes wide next month I highly recommend it.

Ken J says:

Wait, what happened with Billy Mays? He wasn’t at all old! Anthony Sullivan was older than him I think and he’s still around, wtf?

Ken J says:
